Hello, I was just wondering whether anybody else had this problem. Whenever I play Netflix on a tw based rom, the picture freezes about thirty minutes in, even over multiple episodes, the back button becomes useless, the touchscreen becomes useless, and the only way to fix it is to press home and kill Netflix. This doesn't happen in CyanogenMod, but I really want to know why this happens.

Been using Netflix since day 1 and never had that problem.how many other apps are you running?
Btw, shouldn't this be in apps?
Sent from my SGH-T989
None. I think it might just be an isolated case. When I flashed CM7 the problem went away. I guess I'm just going to have to keep wondering. And thanks for moving my post.

I have had my Arc since it first came out in the UK but have noticed on occasions of late that it seems to have developed a lag, especially on things like accessing the gallery & messaging. Has anyone else noted this?
Nope. However I do use a cache cleaner every few weeks.

Yup, after about 2 weeks mine started to lag every once in a while. I just assumed it was because of some faulty app. So I did a clean install, and 2 weeks later it was the same again. (didn't install too many apps this time)
Mine is still great.
try an app called fast reboot....I find it speeds things up
No lag at all here, 2 months in.
Had the Arc (UK) about 2 months and in the last two weeks things have really started to lag. Have had to resort to rebooting and cleaning the cache regularly but it only takes a day to start lagging again. Wondering whether there is a CPU/ memory hog there in my app suite or a widget but haven't been able to identify anything yet. Once the phone goes below 40-50MB free it is all over and I have to reboot.
This may sound weird but my phone lags during the day and it runs super fast at night lol

I have this lags, too. But I had not to reboot the system, yet...
Any more ideas?
Cheers!

After update on Android 2.3.3 i don't hve any lag. Before that I had lag but nothing to worry about. I think it was Android 2.3.2 that cousses lag.

Same here after about 1 to 2 days the phone memory goes to about 25MB and is practically not useable and need to reboot. I am on 2.3.3
I went through my apps & by trial & error ended up removing a particular app & that seems to have sped things up a bit. Also downloaded a history cleaner & used that & that has improved things a bit as well. But in certain areas it definitely still seems to lag. Have to wonder now if it is something to do with the Arc's hardware?
ok guys after using SeePU+++ i think i found the process that uses the most cpu power and lags down our Arc is "ndroid.process.acore"
not sure what it does but i believe it is the culprit for random slow downs and lag on our phone...
does anyone know what it does? can anyone confirm my findings?
P.s. I am on global generic 2.3.3 firmwre 145
This problem may be caused by a bug in the Google Contacts Sync , just as seen in this bug:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2377
In other devices like HTC Evo this problem persist
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...ore-why-sucking-up-so-much-battery-power.html
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...andom-reboots-magic-bullet-facebook-sync.html
I don't have the Google Sync activated and i don't feel my Arc Laggy
This phone is incredibly laggy. Many FCs or lags when I open the messaging app or other apps... Very sad and frustrating.
One of the major causes of lag on the HTC hero was having too many text messages stored on the phone. Ever since then i tend to not let the numbers build up too much, and i havent noticed any lag problems on the arc (maybe it's a general android problem).

one of the main android apps, your keybord and other important funtions are here, so my advice : dont touch it or you end up reflashing ROM
I noticed this for the first time two days ago, but it has just happened again so i wondered if anyone else has had the same...
Whilst reading on the amazon kindle app and listening to the stock music app, the phone will crash. The music sticks like a scratched cd and i have to pull the battery out to restart.
I cant see this noted anywhere else and i dont really know how to trouble shoot it.
My first adventure in android is starting to get a little annoying though.
Anyway, do i just keep pulling out the battery or is there a better way of going about things?
Cheers again.
Could be a bug with ICS itself although more likely a bug with the Kindle app. Better report it to Amazon customer service.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
My phone also crashed while using the Kindle app! Had to do a battery pull as well. I thought that it was just a system crash, but now I think it might be indeed a problem with the Kindle app.
Mine crashed using the music app without kindle running. I was able to successfully read using the kindle app though for about 20 mins. My morning routine is basically music and kindle, sometimes sans music. I'll see if it happens often, that would be a deal breaker.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Kind of glad it's not just me, but kinda disappointed in another bug.
I'll try and report this to Amazon and see if anything gets picked up.
Although I haven't noticed google music crashing in a little while, since Kindle updated last week it has given me constant issues with crashes.
It will work happily enough first time round, but if I come out of it, leave the phone alone for a while, and then try and go back in I get a blank black screen. I have to go into setting and force stop to get it back to normal.
I've unregistered my device, uninstalled, and reinstalled and I'm getting the same issue. Amazons technical help just tell me to uninstall and reinstall again.
Not the most helpful service I've ever recieved....
Can anyone else think of anything that may be causing this? Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks all
Check out this larger thread about the issue.

I have turned off the eq in the music player and have not crashed since.

This is a problem with the Music app, not the Kindle app.
I tried to start a poll to gauge how many people have this problem but not many people responded - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1387891
Ill have a read through later. Kindle is definitely crashing without music playing though. And its sync has gone a bit funny.
I have also experienced Kindle crashing on the Nexus. Kindle only crashes when in the background.
The game in question is Marble Blast! by Ezjoy Network. (I cannot post outside links yet, sorry)
On my first Galaxy Nexus I would play that game daily without any issue. I just got a replacement phone from Verizon yesterday (screen issues) and now every time I try and play the same game, my phone reboots on the "Loading Feint..." screen. I've heard Feint might not be compatible with ICS yet?
I see that the app was updated on Dec 31 and I didn't have auto-update enabled for that app, so on my old phone I was probably playing an earlier version of it. There is only one comment on the market from someone having a similar issue, with many more comments from people with galaxy nexus devices rating the game highly.
Two questions:
1. Can anyone else confirm phone rebooting with latest version of this game on a galaxy nexus?
2. This is my first android phone, so is it common for an errant app to be able to reboot the phone? I can see it crashing the app, but isn't rebooting the phone a little severe and something an app shouldn't be able to do?
have you tried xda app?
Just installed and testing now. Seems to work fine. Does this app cause phone reboots for people too?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
lol. give it some time. but to answer your question, i can't say for 100% i am sure apps cause reboots, but i think they can and do. xda gives me fits sometimes. but surprisingly, most apps haven't given me problems with nexus. if they have, i've uninstalled them right away. i am awaiting a solid build from google before i give a few apps a second chance.
That game is the only app I've ever had reboot the phone. It was odd to me that Nexus #1 played the game fine daily for 2 weeks, Nexus #2 reboots every time. Makes me wonder if it's the phone or the software?
Since no other app is doing that, I'll blame the software for now.
it's probably in need of another update still. ics is still fresh so be patient. you are an early adopter still even though it officially came out on verizon.
Hey guys,
So just a little background: Running PA 2.53 on Trinity 63
The problem: Sometimes I'll try and play a video, on youtube, locally, basically anywhere and the phone just won't. It'll sit there loading then when I hit back the app FCs. A restart will fix the issue until I run into it again, at which point I have to reboot again.
Extra: This isn't exclusive to my configuration. I've had the same issue since I got the phone (before root and rom). The issue persisted on PA with the included kernel as it does with the Trinity kernel. I like PA though and would like to stick with that. I don't know if this is related, but when this happens my face unlock also stops working (loads for a second then flips to the pattern grid)
So, folks, has anyone heard of anything like this? I don't think it's a hardware issue since a restart usually clears it up, but it's really frustrating (and embarassing when I want to show someone a video I literally just took) Any suggestions on how to fix it?
I had the same issue. Uninstalling VLC beta solved it. I don't know if you have a third app video player installed, but you might want to try that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Only QuickPic. I just uninstalled it now and am seeing if it makes any difference, doubt it will since it's not a video player with its own codecs like VLC.
Bump, other opinions?
I have found a similar issue on another site that outlines the exact problem I'm having, seems many are having them since Jelly Bean. Factory Resets don't help.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/592669-video-player-youtube-problems-jelly-bean.html
bump bump.
I am experiencing what seems to be a reproducible phone crash while casting Google Play Music to my TV. If the phone goes to sleep while casting and I wake it, hitting volume down or up buttons while on the lock screen crashes the phone. I couldn't replicate the crash while casting YouTube, only Google Play Music. Also, no crashing when adjusting song volume from lock screen while not casting. When the phone crashes it goes straight to the boot animation, no splash screen shown, and gets stuck there. I have to force shutdown to get it to turn off.
Phone is s-off, rooted, running latest stock.
Anyone with a Chromecast willing to replicate this crash? Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks.

Yep. I've had it happen to me as well. I've never really tried to see what the issue may be though.
Its happening to me too. Are you using xposed mod to wake with volume button? I am and I'm thinking that might be the cause. I'll try it a little later and report back.
Edit. That's not the cause. I turned off that mod and it still happens.
No xposed mod or anything else. All I'm doing is trying to adjust the volume of the song that is playing, which one should be able to do while casting, and the whole phone crashes. Is this an HTC problem or Google problem? midnight assassin, what ROM are you running?

I am experienced the same issue last night while using Netflix. I tried adjusting the volume while using my chromecast and then my phone reboots into the HTC one screen. I have to hold the power button until it hard reboots.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
I get this same issue on Verizon HTC One, although it seems the phone doesn't need to be actually asleep, and it will reboot itself - does not need a hard reset from me.
Non Rooted HTC One
I am also having the same issues when trying to change the volume of Play while the screen is off. I have a non rooted Verizon HTC One.
exact same issue with me when using volume rocker after phone goes to sleep while casting Play Music. I am using ATT phone rooted, s-off, running latest ARHD 31.6 rom. this seems to be an issue with chromecast as it only happens when casting.
Thanks for reporting. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on Google's end or HTC's. My Nexus 7 doesn't have this problem while casting.
I emailed HTC support about it, with a link to this thread. I'll post back if I get a reply.
I've noticed the same issue. I'm running InsertCoin 6.0-5. It took two reboots before I figured out why my phone kept crashing. I've been using my Chromecast for a while, and I only recently went back to a Sense rom. I was running CM 10.2 until recently, and I can't recall having this issue on that rom, but I can't say for certain. I'm sort of glad to see that I'm not the only one having a problem.
Edit: Oh, and I just noticed this is the Verizon forum (came across this thread via Google). I have an AT&T HTC One.
It's still good to know that the problem is not carrier specific.
I did heard back from HTC and they just punted saying that it's a third party app, not their problem, and suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which doesn't fix anything.
Anyone know how to report this to Google?

Typical manufacturer BS. If your OS crashes because of a third party app, then there's something wrong with your OS. A properly designed OS should be incapable of crashing because of a third party app. Never mind the third party in question in this case is Google... If it only crashes under HTC's spin of Android, then HTC broke something and needs to fix it.
I'm tempted to wait until the "sense-ified" release of KitKat comes out to see if that fixes the issue, since I'm waiting on HTC to fix the stupid purple hue low-light camera issue as well.
I have this very same problem, except i dont have to force shutdown. It just reboots sense (takes about 10 seconds) and then all is fine.
I'm rocking a stock (android 4.3) international simlock free unit.
Not rooted, no s-off, no nothing. Fresh out of the box.
Im still having this same problem on my HTC one X running ViperX 4.07. Has anyone found a solution yet?
I've recently experienced a similar issue when casting from the GP Music app to my Sonos speakers. When trying to adjust the volume from within the GP Music app, it causes the phone to reboot. I have an HTC One still running 4.3 (my carrier in the UK dragging their feet a bit!). I was wondering (hoping) whether this is still an issue with 4.4?
