From S2 to Nexus?

Is is worth the trade? Now that Jellybean is on its way to the Nexus device and probably our phone is gonna have it really really late like when we got the ICS update.please share your thoughts on this.thanks in advance!

Did you get rid of your s2 to get the Nexus? I'm kind of confused if I wanna trade my s2.first ill be losing the expansion storage. I don't know if 16gb is enough. I have a 32gb micro on my s2.also I don't know hows the Nexus works on TMO network.

Do it man. I left this phone and had it for a good 6 months. If you truly care about updates you will not regret it. The development is great and the phones is amazing. You will have all the newest updates and besides, the GS2 will not likely see JB. Nexus has slower data speeds, but not a huge difference, has a pretty decent camera, storage wise, you just need to handle memory better, people have so much crap they don't need.
In short, I am super happy I made the switch to the Nexus from this phone.

I just realized it only costs $349. So tempted.

If you're gonna make the switch, do it quickly. Apple just won a ban on Galaxy Nexus sales in the US.

I just finished ordering mine. If for any reason it does get banned, and I don't like the phone (Which I doubt) It will be pretty easy to sell. People always want what they cant have lol.Cant wait till it get here

Its being banned because Apple thinks it resembles the iPhone and because of the packaging that it comes in and judge ruled in favor of Apple.....

Everyone is jumping ship for JB. If its in perfect condition there should be someone willing to pay around $300+ for it. Im just going to wait it out and re-up when my contract is up.

I just got my t989 a week ago so its in perfect condition can probably get 300+ for it. but im going to be patient and wait. I'm not going to rush and sell this phone yet.

Purchased mine back in January off-contract, don't plan to get the GNex, if i do get a newer phone it will be the GNex's successor and ill prolly purchase one in January at the earliest.

If you call retentions, more than likely they'll take care of you. If you're out of contract retentions entire job is to keep you from leaving. The way they could handle this situation is more or less set it up in the system as if you were going to cancel, but locked into another contract... more or less, as if you had cancelled, then signed up as a new customer. In fact, that might be how they'd do it.
Give them a call and try.

I really would wait if I were you, signs of this means a new Nexus phone is in the making by Google. Which I would buy because GS2 has been a mess with ICS, and I am secured updates with a Nexus device!

Rethink that. Sprints version of the galaxy nexus is not supported by Google. The sprint version is code named the toroplus, look it up. Good development community though

I'm not sure that device is any better than what we have now, in fact it might be worse.

I know ICS runs better on it. Smoother In my opinion. My wife has one. I talked to Samsung this morning and according to them Sprint is hustling Epic owners about a bug fix update. The Samsung Supervisor even said it was never recommended that Sprint push the update. She said no update is in the works for this model. The funny thing about it is Samsung says there call lines are flooded with Epic owners having issues and Sprint tells me there are not any problems and I need to take out insurance. That will be a cold day in Hell!

Where did you exactly find that info?everything I saw was that the nexus was called "toroplus"as in the model name.everything I read is that it is Google powered and there roms for it..please lead me to the direction you saw what you did.

Read in the galaxy nexus forums, most people say don't get the sprint or verizon versions as they don't get their updates like the ones purchased through google play.Still good phones etc, just not the same google experience.

Its still has stock android and the most stable aosp ROMs of any device.

Hey guys i had one sprint nexus i never seen like this phone so f*** crupy does not have good network, radio, worset battery,

Do you guys think it is worth buy a used epic touch and getting rid of my nexus s I'm told the epic touch isn't much better than a nexus s? I was also told its a pain to flash but could it be more than a pain than the epic 4g i used to have? Please your thoughts.

Ok its better than nexus.
Flashing is as easy as it can be if you follow word to word instructions and make sure you are on a safe kernel.
I would not trade my e4gt for any older phone. So.. I would get it. Its your decision in the end.

The epic touch is a damn good phone. I never had the Nexus S so I can't compare it but I will say I'm very happy with it. Its easy to flash and work with and gets decent battery life.

It's a better phone than the s but it's a hard time to recommend buying another phone. I don't think it's enough of an upgrade that I wouldn't wait a few months to see what's dropping for the holidays. What specifically aren't you happy about on the s?

I have issues with my phone running out of ram I use my GPS for work and if I get a call its causes the GPS to hang for up to 30 seconds and when you drive in Boston that can't happen. Also the radios in the s well suck.

I recommend the Epic 4G Touch. It's not 720p like some newer phones but the SAMOLED+ is amazing.
It's super snappy, plenty of RAM, enough built in memory, awesome camera.
IMO it is the iPhone killer.

Epic 4g Touch is a great phone. My only gripes are that resolution could be a little larger for how big the screen is and the radio could be a little stronger (but part of that's sprints issues). I guess no lte either but that won't be available for a while anyways. But other than that its an awesome, correct me if I am wrong but I think it was the best phone on the market for a while. It may not be as fast as the latest and greatest phones but its good enough for me.

Possible official jellybeans in your E4GT's future?

Disclaimer:this is coming from an employee at a smallish Sprint store, so please know that it's far from confirmed.
So yesterday I was at the Sprint store upgrading to the S3, and I was asking about the S3's JB update. After he told me that it's for sure coming soon(non help on when), and while he was porting my sister's number to my E4GT, he started to tell me that the E4GT would be getting JB, and that Samsung had told their store this information. The lady at the counter next to his had agreed with that he had just told me. I was given no time frame either, just that the device will be getting it.

I was kinda thinking that. The same guy and lady both said that Sprint would not be getting the Note 2, when they've personally announced that they are and even had a hands-on with the Sprint device in new york. I would make a way better Sprint employee that that guy. But I'm only 16, so that's a no for two years for me.

It's coming for the E4GT, all the rumors from reliable sources point to it.
Your backup source should be the fact that the phone just started rolling out for Virgin and Boost.
(Meaning they're not going to EOS it anytime soon.)

Seriously, it's a point of competition against Apple. You'll probably see even longer support as they get closer to a standard build for most phones; one of the biggest reasons for delays on our device is the fact that more changes are needed.

This thread lost all credibility in the first paragraph. S2 to s3 really? What's the point it's the same phone. Go return and wait for the new nexus or note 2. No reason to blow a 2 yr upgrade on a same generation phone.

I for one think it is a completely different phone. It has a whole different feel from the S2, it's faster and lighter, bigger screen, that physical home button. My sister had me use her upgrade on the first to buy a new phone anyways so she would get my S2. So I still have my own upgrade to use, which probably will go towards the Note 2. On AT&T. I'll be switching once my contract is up in December.

For what it's worth, I did overhear a T-Mo representative say their LTE services will be launching in select markets within the next few months. This is in line with their 2013 dates, so I didn't question it too much.
This was at a retail store in the ghetto of St. Louis, so I don't take it for much more than hearsay from him.

Maybe L stands for lite or little? As in s3 mini?

That be nice for someone who doesn't already have the s3.. now we might as well wait for the s4.

I thought the gs3 t-mobile was already LTE, are you telling me only that international edition gs3 gets all the good benefits, is 4g all that the gs3 is capable of? Lame they under powered it under did it over messed the tmobile gs3 up. How is it all that different from the gs2 tmobile if it doesn't even have lte capability.

It's pretty much he says, she says at this point. There are people on this site who claim our phone is already LTE ready but then there are others who say no way our phone is LTE ready. I don't know but I sure am enjoying the phone, just wish I would have knew about the whole LTE thing.

Its good news if you dont have a GS3 and you were thinking of buying one. I personally wouldn't buy it since the GS3 has been out for over 6 months now. It's not a long time, but in smart phone time it is. I would wait for something in the first half of 2013.

This is irrelevant, this phone will probably be release around the same time as the S4 which I'm sure will come with LTE by then.
I heard that LTE is already being tested in some secret areas, I think I saw it on Tmo News.
I would pass on this and wait on what's to come.

Tmobile isn't even ready for lte yet, they are testing it so it wouldnt matter if our phones got LTE capability now.
Plus like one of the previous posters said, we are getting up to like 25mbps of 4g and i download huge movies very quickly and stream netflix and youtbe hd without any problems so just what is the point for super fast LTE? IT'S pointless for now for my smartphone. Pretty soon when the world begins to stream bluray 50gb movies then LTE will come in handy but for now when most movies are like 4gb or less no need for lte for me.
