Hello all,
I've seen roms with ADW Launcher and Launcher Pro and Launcher 2 as a default or optional (built in, not an extra install) launcher.
Does anyone know of a rom with GO Launcher Ex as either the default launcher or an optional launcher?
Sorry I can't post a link to the Go Launcher Ex website as I'm a new user but they are in the Market and their site is golauncher[dot]goforandroid[dot]com
None that I know of. Its decent launcher, but probably not the most popular. It would simply take someone who likes GO to cook it into a ROM (and permission from the software developer, of course).
On the other hand, not really much point in cooking in a variety of launchers, when you can just install them yourself in a minute. In particular, it seems like a waste to cook in apps that get updated frequently.
ILWT CM7
ILWT CM7 has GO Laucher as optional launcher, default is ADW. And it is the best ROM ever for our Vision

Is it possible to make all icons rounded like it's done in MIUI ROM? Are there any mods, patches, kernels, themes whatsoever for this? I would like to have it for a sense HD ROM.
ADW Launcher EX
Launcher Pro Plus
Thank you guys for pointing me to the launchers. I found a free Launcher that includes this feature and has some other REALLY nice features too: GO Launcher EX!
Only drawback is, it doesn't support sense widgets...
What launcher do you preffer?
Links to try:
Stock - no comments
Launcher Pro
ADW Launcher
Zeam
VTL.Launcher
Other - please provide links...
To switch between launchers use Home Switcher for Froyo
I use ADW Launcher EX ... does everything I need, and allows me to make the UI almost identical between my A7 and my Evo (also running ADW Launcher EX)
I don't know if the "EX" part is important, but I am pretty sure there are a lot of features that are not available in the free version.
I use launcher pro plus on both my A7 and EVo because everything in it is customizable down to the memory usage.
Vtl launcher I'm starting to lean towards on the A7 because of the docking option, but its still in beta
VTL Launcher. for a while Launcher Pro was my choice @ one time but VTL has a much better look with task bar at the bottom, google search is in color...
ADW launcher with the free honeycomb layout and free honeycomb clock. Love the look and feel of ADW. Customizable UI and able to re size widgets like the eloblur.
Will test VTL tonight.
Update wish I could revote
VTL love it
I preffered Zeam. It doesn't have a lot of features, but i like speed and minimal design)
ps. Who chose "Other"? What launcher are you using?
HeLauncher is also a nice alternative, with scalable widgets for some, like Motorola Blur (semilike)
You must try the vtl if you haven't. Got a kick out of the android 7 too
i generally prefer zeam. been around a long time and has always been free. the scrolling bottom dock bar in vtbar is available in zeam as well, but not sidebars.
@dexter; you know if helauncher was ever updated to use the "back" button for exiting the apps tray/menu? it was always a sticking point for me that you had to use the "home" key, where every other app and launcher uses the back button. couldn't get used to that.
Anything that is ment for tablet and not for phone I lean towards, all the launchers above I have install at the moment include the one Dexter post but none look and feel better to me than VTL..
Hi all.
I've tried a few ROMS, each having a different launcher thrown in the mix for me to try: Stock has Blur Launcher, CM7 uses ADW, MIUI uses some weird IOS crazy, and WajkIUI uses Launcher Pro.
Personally, when I used the stock ROM, I had Go Launcher installed, but use the others on the custom ROMS.
Is there any benefit, speed/performance etc in using the launcher built in to the ROM, compared to installing one from the market and using that?
You should use the launcher that suits your needs and you like the most. For example I'm on MIUI, but I prefer ADW Launcher EX over the MIUI one.

true, but my question isn't should I use the one in the ROM because it's better than others - but simply from a performance aspect of the phone, would a launcher built in to the ROM run better/faster than one installed separately.
I think it doesn't really matter. A good launcher will run smoothly on your phone, plus you should like it. If you are looking for performance you should look for a light launcher. In CM7 they've decided to put ADW because it's pretty similar to AOSP and it's quite light. On the other hand you can look at the MIUI default launcher which is laggy IMO and that's why I've installed ADW, besides the lack of the app drawer.
If a launcher came as stock in one ROM it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the fastest/best. Moreover the vast majority of the "built in" launchers is represented by similar apps, if not identical, to those that can be installed from market, so it's a matter of taste.
I searched and could not find an answer. I am running Cyanogenmod 7.1 and have grown fond of ADW Launcher that ships with it. I noticed that there is a paid version, ADW Launcher EX on the Market. What I am having trouble finding is what the paid version offers over the version that came with CM 7.1?
Just compare regular adw launcher with adw ex. It has more features and is updated recently
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702
I've been a longtime user of ADW and LauncherPro...I just recently switched to GO Launcher and I'm liking it a lot so far. Give that one a shot. Smooth transitions and low memory usage. Easy customization.
I believe that Anderwebs is only updating the Ex version (or updating it more frequently than the free version). You have the ability to change both the normal and hidden dock backgrounds with custom ones, screen looping, screen transitions, etc - if you don't already have those options. I haven't used it in a while because I've been using the default MIUI launcher, but it's my favorite launcher replacement by far - and I've tried most of them.
Check out Anderwebs site here and look through the changelog to see what features you don't have.
I strongly recommend buying it, if for no reason other than to support development.

Go Launcher EX already has those features and it is free. I love Go Launcher. OP, give Go launcher EX a try and see how you like it compared to ADW EX. Go Launcher is updated constantly and The Go Dev Team have GREAT products.
Dear all,
I want to learn that how can I add or remove additional homescreen pages from Galaxy Nexus. There is no information about this even google. Before there was an icon for displaying all homescreen pages and you could add or remove new homepages.
Thanks,
What launcher are you using?
If the answer is stock you cannot add or remove pages.
you cant add or remove homescreens on the stock launcher
if you want to do that, you need to install a third-party launcher from the market
I have tried Nova launcher which works pretty well and is based off of the stock ICS launcher
I am using original firmware, not custom rom and it is pure ICS. What do you advice to me for modifying homescreen pages,
Regards,
Since you're bone stock you really only have the option of using another launcher i.e. nova, apex (they use the resources from and function just like the stock launcher with added options) or adw, go, lp+ and many others. If you end up on a deodexed rom then you have the option of editing the "stock" launcher yourself By reading this.
good day.
Thank you very much for your replies and advices, I installed Nova launcher and i can organize them now.
Thanks again.
How is Nova? I'm currently on adw ex and was eyeing the "tsf shell" does Nova live up to the test?
