Hybrid TPU Cases for EVO

10/23/2010 edit: I no longer recommend these cases. Neat idea, but they just don't last. If you want a thin case I'd go pure TPU. Personally I'm now using the Otterbox Commuter and not looking back. Excellent case.
Just ordered these 2 bad bays... they are called hybrid cases. found the link in another thread here on XDA. The back is made out of hard Poly Carb and the sides are made out of soft TPU. I picked em up on ebay... so what do you guys think? i'm pretty pleased. the TPU is very soft so the buttons are very very easy to press compared to other TPU cases I've used. Only problem I see is the PC back will probably scratch up quicker then a full TPU case would. The white & clear makes the white evo look how HTC should of made it look. kinda strange that they made the sides black on the white evo.

Yes these are VERY nice cases! I just got mine in the mail last week. Ordered from Ebay Store Monster Accessories. The Cool part is... if you take off your original cover.. then you get all red!! Its pretty nice!

Looks good. Glad the buttons are easy to press. I ordered a black with smoke back that should be here any day.

definitely not. that's the only down side to the case so far actually, its not the easiest to take off.

looks pretty good! i think i like it with the white better though. I hope the Poly Carb back doesn't scratch up my battery cover, I've only used TPU before and that's too soft to scratch a phone, but PC definitely could. I'll keep my eye on it.

And you have no problems with the power or volume button? My frosted white TPU from evocase was great except for the button problem. Its just too hard to press. Also can you give a link so I could order the correct one. Many thanks.

Be careful with these.. I have the clear/white model shown at the top. 2 days after geting them, there are stress cracks by the hole for the camera and the speaker. I called daydeal to rma and return then figured out its not worth it and just keep the one I got

Trying to decide between this or a full TPU case to replace the Innocase II.
Any idea how this case would fit in the Innocase holster?

Got mine with the black border and smoke back today. Overall I am very pleased. Pressing the power and volume buttons is as easy if not easier than without a case at all. I love the look because you can see the HTC and sprint logos through the back. It will likely scratch easier though. The biggest downside is it's not as snug around the sides as I would like. Specifically I have a bulge on the upper left side that doesn't fit snug against the side. Could be just the one I got though.

I got a clear on clear and the fit is great. it fits snugly, camera is recessed, kickstand has a 1 mm border unprotected, but its not a dealbreaker. i didnt want the kind without the individual speaker/flash/camera cutouts. this one has them. i also didn't want one of the kind with the diamond pattern. i like this case a lot. All I know is that my Innocase II Blows! It's loose and a bit bulky. I think I'm going to test drive one of these. Oh..and I paid freaking 26 bucks for the Seido!

Zenus Masstige Block Folio Case

Great Case I just got last week. Not too bulky, lightweight and looks great. Talking with the flip closed feels natural and doesn't distort sound. It feels soft to the touch and it has a great build quality. You can tell they took their time making this. The stand is also great because you can adjust you angle easily! I recommend this case!

As I found out yesterday, it's also very sturdy and protects the phone well... I was taking the Note out of my jacket pocket and it slipped out of my hand and dropped to the rough cobblestone street. I was dreading the sound of broken glass, but all that happened was a slight scrape on one of the corners of the case/phone.
It hit the ground on one of the corners, and nothing happened to the glass, even though it bounced pretty hard.
Very impressed.

I been using this case for a few weeks now and i'm very happy with overal quality and design. I purchased it to use as stand while watching videos but it also came out very protective as well. I add some pictures taken by me to guide people who are interested in this case

I also purchased this case so I could have it once I get an At&t Note. I ordered brown and the build quality looks amazing! It will definitely protect the screen. Now I just need to get that white Note to put in there.

Those pics above are good but you forgot a critical part of the case...
Its also a stand! And will be very useful.

I think brown is best choice to go with white Note. Actually i took those pics with my Note itself so I couldn't figure out to take pictures of the case with Note loaded.

Cool! I am getting a White At&t Note and figured it would look real nice with the brown. That black you have is really clean though.
Does it work well and is it stable enough at multiple angles when you use it as a stand to watch videos/movies?

I also came across this case. Though the Tridea diary case looks better than this but it doesnt have the cutout for talking on the phone with flip closed and also no kick stand functionality. So this case seems to be the best bet.
Existing owners can you tell me for how much u bought this case. Currently its on ebay for $27.88. Should I buy it compared to the tridea case and which color?
MOST IMPORTANT: Also does this Zenus case make the camera sink in further than the free flip case which comes with the phone?

I bought the case off ebay for around 28 dollars. Total it was 35 and got here in a week. The camera hole is sunk in so laying it on its back wont allow things to come in contact with camera, its deep enough. I say go with this case!

Hi. Does the elastic band secure the case in a closed position? Also is it durable enough?

yes, the rubber band will hold the case closed very well.
...But how long it will last?
I just recieved the case, today.
I most say, it doesn't look like it will last long or forever.
But still... I think it is a great product.
I'll like the case even with a broken rubber band....

Here's my two cents..
-I recieved this case roughly a week ago and alreaddy the elastic band keeping it together is showing the white elastic inside (got the black cover)
-The stiches where the elastic is stiched into the front cover is widening.
-Very, very bulky.. I thought it would be okay but this makes the phone almost twice as thick. When normally my note slides into my jeans, with this case it had to go into my jacket pocket. Just saying in case you like to carry your note in your jeans pockets.
+It covers every side of the phone
+The grippy area makes it easy to use it as a stand in alot of angles
-Cant give it a 20 degree angle like I could with the SPIGEN SGP Stehen case, so when you're on a desk and want a slight tilt to the note.. can't do it with the zenus case.
Overall: It can't beat Spigen, but then again.. its 15 bucks cheaper.

My elastic band feels the same as it did when I received it 4 months ago. For what its worth..

They have different colors. I got the black one. Not bad for $12 with free shipping.
Took 14 days to arrive in Canada. Item actually shipped from Singapore and not Hong Kong (as it says on the ebay page)
Power button and volume rocker are easy to press. Although you wont feel any feedback from pressing these buttons. Typical of any TPU case.
As you can see, the TPU is textured for improved grip.
Rock Logo above the speaker cut out.
Protects the rear camera! No more worrying when laying your phone on any surface.
Front view with the phone. The TPU case extends all the way to the edge of the screen. You can put the phone face down on a table and it wouldnt touch the screen.
Rear view with the phone. You can still see the HTC logo and Beats Audio logo.
A closer look at the camera protection.
Cut outs are perfect for micro USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and microphone. However, no cut out for the 5pin at the back.
Took the pic on a wrong angle. Cut out is actually perfect.
It comes with a free screen protector. Its not a perfect fit. The sides wont stick since the screen is curved.

It is a touch harder then what I expected.
I purchased the clear, and on white from front and sides it hardly looks like a case, more like a halo or clear glow.
Took 9 days to arrive.

Colours came out a bit funky using my dhd but the clear case doesn't mess too much with the look of the X.

They don't advertise it as clear, but as "white" on their eBay page, I assume white = clear?

Love the white/clear Rock case. Might order another one for myself.

Grip is good, definitely gives a rubbery feel. Same as any tpu case I guess.
You wont get any better protection. Hard cases do not cover the top and bottom parts of the phone. Some even dont have lens protection.

People with the case, wanted to ask if you think the top front edge could be lower, by the camera?
In the photo you can see that the bottom edge curves round the front of the body further than the top.
Does this affect the protection at all? Basically I have a similar cheaper case but the front is a bit too high and does not protect the edge very well. Thanks

Looks like an Otterbox knockoff, but at $12.00 shipped it's gonna be hard to pass up for those looking for a case with great shock/drop protection qualities

I ordered 2 of those from Amazon and should be here Tuesday and Friday. It seems there's a delay on the white one. I had Ballistic case before on my Amaze 4G and have dropped it from about where my pocket is and not a scratch on the phone. I hope this case offers the same protection as it cost less than $30 shipped for both.

I like how the hard shell wraps around the sides, unlike the Incipio. I don't like the giant hole for the camera, speaker, and flash. Three separate holes would be better. I guess it's cheaper to make one big hole. For that price, though, I'm interested in reading some reviews!

I received my black/black Acase today and i must say that not only it looks thin still, but also feels better protected compared to thin cases. Its like having otterbox but a lot less bulky. Still waiting for the white/black version and then I'll take pics to post.

The Black/Black is exactly like the one in the first post. I ordered a second one which is White/Black. I will post pictures of boths for comparison. Meantime, you can check them out here.

Hi I had a quick question my friend got the Acase for his iphone but one thing I noticed was the backing or hard shell was really slippery which made him return it in the end. Hows the hard part on this is it a smooth plastic or slippery?

Its actually quite a bit different. Look at where the outer shell wraps around the inner liner on both cases.

Yeah I see what you are talking about

I had this case for my 3D and it worked very well, it cracked around the bottom on the hard shell but this was after many falls and some abuse. I am ordered one now and recommend them, last I remember is that the back side is smooth but not all that slippery.
On a side note if anyone is getting their phone from Best Buy they have a special going on where you get a Zagg screen protector and the Platinum Case with a separate swivel holster for $40. Case alone was $35 bucks, I will try to take some pics later.

I got this the other day and really like it (especially for the price). I was a big fan of the Case-Mate Tough Case for my iPhone 4 previously and this is very comparable. The biggest thing I've noticed about this case is the indent below the home button. This is a HUGE feature to me because it makes hitting the, fairly small, home button easy.
I had stupidly bought a Ballistic Case from the store and the lip on the front was so bulky it almost ran flush with the bottom of the home button and made it really hard to press naturally. I wrote a review on amazon for the black version with pictures.
For the price this thing is awesome. I'm thinking of getting the white/black one now that's its available on amazon.

Ya, I have no problems with them. They push easily but so much so that they get hit inadvertently. It's natural enough that I didn't even think about mentioning that in the review.

Speck Clear GemShell for HTC One - Mini Review

Hi all,
I've been a lurker for many years here on XDA and figured I'd try and contribute for once. Sorry if someone has posted a review on this case in the other threads. I looked around for a bit but didn't find any.
I received my Speck GemShell for my HTC One http://www.speckproducts.com/smartphone-cases/htc/gemshell-for-htc-one.html about 3 days ago. It's a hard plastic case with gel incorporated around it. BTW, for those considering shipping options, mine shipped out from Oklahoma so it reached me in Chicago in a day via the free shipping option (USPS). That being said, here are my impressions so far:
Pros:
- The case still leaves the phones feeling pretty slim (though I still do prefer it nekkid).
- It's clear except for a gel around the front rim, corners, and inputs.
- The gel around the front rim elevates the phone when placing it on its face.
- The gel around the inputs will hopefully prevent wearing/cracking of the hard plastic.
- Seems well sealed enough that I haven't seen any dust or pocket enter the space between the case and phone.
- The speck logo on the back is really well done. It makes it seem like it's a part of the aluminum.
Cons:
- The power button becomes really recessed. Not a deal breaker for me but definitely something to take note of.
- Interacting with the volume buttons requires more effort.
- I'm OCD on keeping fingerprints off my phone/case and the cleaning has left micro-scratches on the case. So far it doesn't interfere with the appearance but we'll see after a longer period of time.​- Wish the gel actually covered the entire sides, top, and bottom for better coverage. Even with the clear plastic, you don't really see the aluminum on the sides, top, and bottom.
So you can see the selling point of this phone is not only that it's a clear case but the gel that they've incorporated into it. I'm a bit sad on the micro-scratches but I'm not convinced there's any other case-based solution that would be cost effective. I've attached pictures of the case below.

Thick, will turn yellow after a couple of weeks unlike other hard clear cases (such as the Spigen) and it's not very clear. Its very visible on the phone and defeats the purpose of it being clear.

You sir know your cases. I definitely agree here. It may be "grippy" but this will yellow immediately... for clear cases you have to go with a hard case

I just got this case in the mail over the weekend (still waiting on phone) and The case feels rather flimsy on its own and is incredibly thin. I have no doubt it'll protect against scratches, but feels like it'll do nothing for drops. I didn't expect Otterbox protection, but was hoping for some kind of impact absorption. Anyone have any experience with these cases and drops with previous devices?

Actually I went into the Sprint store on Thursday the 18th & purchased the white & silver speck case cor my HTC ONE that I was receiving in the mail the next day on the 19th & liked my case on it because it matches tne phone perfectly & fits it really tight like a body glove. It's hard to put on & hard to take off but I saw the clear gel case by speck o line yesterday morning & wanted that one because it will show my phone all the way around, I just dont want it to loosen up over time but this one I do have by speck is a hard shell case on the outside but a softgray rubber on the inside

I have ordered the black one but it is still in post. Can someone tell me whether it adds any bulk to the phone? I bought a cheap one from ebay till my speck arrived and im completely satisfied with my cheap one and i hope speck is not bulky.

I was completely surprised at how thin the speck is. It's hardly noticeable.

I've had mine for two weeks and it's VERY yellow. I'll post pics when I can. I've had other clear cases before, hard and soft, but never had them turn yellow like this one.

I'm not sure of anyone has mentioned as o didn't read entire post. Leet414 u may try that compound they sell for headlight lenses to get scratches out. May be a stretch but that stuff works.
