Its probably the way they built the lockscreen but hopefully with all this facebook intergration they'll add it & other features

My guess is their system was tied to a VERY specific version of Facebook, probably the one that came with the phone/ROM.
While on the topic - anyone know how to turn them off (at least for texts?) I use Handcent, not the built in text/SMS app - so it always thinks I have unread when I don't :/ Only noticed this problem in 2.3.4
Use titanium to uninstall the sms lockscreen extention.

I searched for a solution for this and I hope this has not been covered. I bought my wife a 3g slide and she loves it...I think it its pretty cool too...but here is my issue she has only her T-Mobile contacts visible and they are all synced w/ Facebook. But when she uses the messaging app ALL of her Facebook friends that included a number on their info become click-able...very annoying!
Is there a way to tun this off without losing the functionality of having the phone contacts synced...? Said another way her contact app works great b/c the FB contacts are hidden (there is an option to only show certain contacts) ....but when using the messaging app they are ALL visible there is NO option to only show certain contacts.
Any advice would be appreciated...I am a WinMo guy and this is out of my wheel house.
Go into contacts and hit menu...view and it'll give you a list of contact groups to show/hide...

I have already done that...I think you misunderstood my question. The issue is not with the contact app...I have the unwanted contacts hidden there. The problem is when I tap try to compose a new text meassgae...then it displays ALL the Facebook contacts....maybe there is no way to hid them on the messaging app?
Edit: I guess it it is not problem to initiate a new text message from the contact app...but it would be nice if there was a away to hide the FB contacts in the MESSAGING app...

As far as I know the only way to do such a thing would be to disable Facebook contact sync.

That is what I thought...no big deal...if anyone know a way let me know.
Hi all. I've loved the info and resources from the site but finally ran into a problem I cant figure out on my own. I get a white envelope in my notification bar for every text message that says "New Notification: Unread Messages" that doesnt take me anywhere when I click it and disabling it under the stock sms app doesnt do anything. It randomly started popping up with my Handcent notification today and wont go away. It only goes away when I clean notifications but pops up again as a second icon when I get a new text. It even plays the ringtone.
Help?
Simple fix...you need to disable the notification for your stock messaging app..open up the stock htc messaging app and go to the settings and disable receive notification... You are now using handcent so you do not need both app notifying you of new messages.
Once you disable recv notification in the stock app you should be good to go.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I already did that option since I've had my Inc since launch and Handcent just as long. This is a recent issue even with the stock Messager app disabled
Sorry I found the culprit. It was the beautiful widgets SMS widget. I had no idea it affected SMS even if the widget wasnt applied
My e-mail and Facebook notifications stopped popping up since updating to JB. SMS/MMS, missed calls, and voice mail notifications work perfectly though.
(Lightflow LEDs on JB are wonky too, but the app developer has acknowledged it and is working on it, so I'm not too worried about it)

If they acknowledged it then you have nothing to worry about. Just check their thread for updates on the issue and post problems related to that rom on that thread. You will get better and faster responses.
What I'm trying to say is that my e-mail and FB notifications don't even pop up anymore. When I had stock ICS, I would be notified if I had a new email or FB notification. Now I don't.
Is automatic sync on for those apps??

I am using Light Flow and I noticed one of the settings allows you to have contact-based access to gmail but you need a modified gmail app to use it. Where do I find the modified gmail app? My phone is rooted and I am running Codename Android.
Thanks!
You can just click the 'add' button in the notification window and it seems to jump to contacts. Never bothered to look much tbh as I just use Light Flow for apps but it might just work...
EDIT: Had a quick look, it gives options for SMS, MMS and missed calls for a specific contact

Under Light Flow settings, there is a "Modified Gmail app" option. If you select this, then in addition to picking contact-specific notifications for SMS, MMS and missed calls, you can also set up contact specific notifications for email addresses. I tried this and unfortunately it does not work. I assume this is because I do not have the "Modified" version of Gmail.
Anyone know what Light Flow is referring to when they reference Modified Gmail App??
Is there any way to have the HTC Messages app have the notification for an SMS continue every X minutes? I use SMS alerts for work and can't miss them. I know the Verizon one has an option but that thing is a hideous mess.
Any clean/minimal alternative SMS app that has this feature?
Update:
Tried 8SMS, Hello SMS, Hoverchat and none of them had that feature. However the Missed Call Reminder app looks like it will do what I want. Also, Hoverchat is pretty sweet, I think I am going to use it.

I like Textra as a good SMS app, and it can continue to remind you about SMS notifications every X minutes as long as X=2, and as long as you don't need to be reminded more than ten times. I have written to them asking them to make that two minute reminder period user-definable and also to see if they might extend the options on the number of reminders to include one that would keep them repeating endlessly as well. They were receptive to the ideas, so we'll see.
I may have to check out that Missed Call Reminder App. I've been using Phone Alarm, but I'm not sure it's really doing everything I'd like it to do properly.
