I rooted my phone, unlocked it and put the HD rom on my phone. For some reason, when I turn my phone off and try to turn back on while its plugged in for some reason it just shows up with the battery icon and won't turn back on unless I take the battery out and back in.
Any ideas?

This is due to the recovery you are using, you should be able to reboot it through adb.
How do I go about that? Reboot the phone? I don't mind just taking the battery our and back in when I'm out, its just annoying. I was rebooting my phone in the car when this happenee

We already discussed the issue here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400290
However it seems that the "bug" is related to custom firmwares. If you use a stock ROM (even if rooted) everything works like a charm.
This is very strange... maybe custom roms modifiy something in fastboot or anything else?

I have a problem because everytime when my phone is on charge (doesnt matter if its USB cable or wall socket) and Im rebooting it (power -> switch off - > and power it again) the system will not boot up. It will just stay on black screen with battery logo. I never checked if its a problem with stock ICS or Revolution MOD. Anyone else have such a problem?

I have the same problem, it's annoying to have to remove the battery just to turn it back on.
I think most phones do that, on my Optimus 2x i can boot it by using the power button again.
Power button is not working. Can someone confirm if its a stock ICS issue or because our phones are rooted

Dude Android has nothing to say about a pre-boot enviroment like the charger.
Have it here as well. Have pulled the battery both times I have done it so far.

Same problem here. I have tried both Android Revolution and a stock F build.
It sounds like it might be something to do with the bootloader unlock process?
EDIT: Flashed Paul's ir3 release and ClockworkMod again and it's charging fine now. Very strange.

Even though the phone is stuck there, do you know if it is charging?
because my bat is completely dead, when it happened to me. im waiting to see if my phone charges
Any solution to this? besides being damn sure your phone isn't plugged into anything when rebooting?
here more info==>

I can atleast say that the phone i just got, holding down the power button for 5 seconds or so makes it boot into Android
Same issue stock 4.0.3 ...
When the phone is charging, this is not a problem...it only happens when its unplugged. If I put the screen to sleep or the phone goes to sleep on its own, the phone completely turns off and will not turn back on unless I pull out and replace the battery or reboot in recovery mode. This just started happening today. My phone is rooted so I unrooted and re-rooted it without any luck. I also tried different roms, but it still happens. Right now I'm on Unnamed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did read about the sleep of death issues on some other phones...but in my case the phone is off and doesn't work at all (in the other threads I read the phone was still working even though the screen went black).
Thanks in advance!

That's exactly what it was. On my Evo 4g I used to set the screen off profile to 200-200 powersave...I tried the same with my E4GT and it didn't work so well. I bumped it up to 500-500 and its been working fine.
Thanks guys!
soo umm i just flashed CWM touch 6.0.1.0 and restarted my phone and for some reason my phone wont turn on... i plug it in the charger and it does nothing at all. also plugged into USB on my computer and the drivers kept popping up to install but keep failing but the phone wont do anything at all.
also tried going into download mode and fastboot mode and nothing
This should have been asked in Q&A, but I'm going to ask the obligatory questions and hope a mod moves this thread to Q&A.
What version phone do you have (maguro(yakju**/takju**), toro, toroplus?
Did you install the correct ClockworkMod recovery for your phone?
Will it not turn on at all?
If it does turn on, does it hang at the Google screen, or do you not even feel the vibration confirming the phone is on?
Was your battery charged before attempting to install the recovery?
Can you get into fastboot mode by holding both volume buttons and the power button?

I'm no expert, but can you use a toolkit to manually flash to the galaxy nexus version? I had no problem like this, so I'm not sure if this is even find work...

well the problem is i cant even boot into download mode or anything at all the phone will not even power on at all (no google sign or screen turn on and no vibe)
i was about to flash a new rom but i wanted to hurry and flash CWM touch but when i downloaded it i guess i clicked the wrong link and picked the nexus 7 CWM touch and flashed that
Yank battery, leave it out for a few minutes...maybe even ten. Plug phone into AC (not USB) wall charger. Let sit like that for two to three minutes. Put battery back in phone while phone is still plugged in. Let sit for an hour or so to get a charge on the battery (in case it dumped). Try powering on.
Just saw you think you flashed N7 recovery....ouch. Time to download Wugs kit and see if you can get it back. I'd still try the steps above for the hell of it.

tried what you said already left it charging for 20 mins and even left it with out battery and sim card out of the phone and still nothing i am 100% sure this is a hard bricked but did not know if there was a way to fix a hard brick as i never bricked a phone before (hard brick anyways)
Seriously, stop advertising toolkits already, OP don't need it to fix this problem..
OP, search for omap flash.
Pressed from my Maguro
You said when you plug it into your computer it fails to install a driver?
Plug in your phone and go to device manager and see if you see OMAP as a device listed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28486568&postcount=2
I would try following that guide IF your computer still detects your phone as OMAPxxx

I have been having a reboot problem on my t989, it has been turning itself after ive turned it off when i plug it into a charger.I have been trying to figure this problem out for the last to months and a havent pin pointed the problem. i have checked if it was the sd card and it wasnt that , it happened two months ago when i was running darkside evolution v8 tdj.and have tried many roms to see if it was darkside and it was not. but whenever I switch to a stock firmware such as GB or stock tmobile ICS the problem stops. i am currently running clones and drones. please if anyone knows how to fix this problem or knows whats causing this to happen it will be very appreciated. thank you!
Sounds to me like you already know the cause. When you go back to stock, do you also replace the recovery? I seem to recall there was a similar glitch in the tmo g2 where it would boot to recovery if it was powered off when attached to the charger.

Its not booting into recovery its turning itself on. And yes when I switch to the stock firmware I flash it via Odin.
Well, I would say to try at least one other rom. The phone has to at least partially start up in order to control the charge cycle. (Chainfire has a charge animation replacement for one of the galaxy s phones on the play story, IIRC) So at least part of the kernel starts...

Okay I will try that. And I was watching it do the self turn on and on the top corner very shortly it says something about safe mode and I'm guessing that's directly corrilated with the problem but how is it related is my question
I had my phone in a little portable safe as I'm traveling abroad with airplane mode on and wifi too. 7 hours or so passes and I pull my phone out. Its on a screen that says downloading 1 custom binary or something along those lines and has Andy the android saying do not turn off. No one knows the combination to my safe and no one went into it. The phone said not to turn it off but I did anyway and everything seems fine as I type this. Has any one experienced any thing similar? I'm running X15.

Go ahead and turn it off by pulling the battery. It says do not turn off because that mode is used to download firmware and could brick your phone. Since your not not downloading anything your good. Possibly try installing new firmware using odin and you can look up how to do that on here...just make sure you are using the correct firmware for your phone like don't use Verizon.

That happened to me the other day. For me, as soon as I put the battery back in, it went back into download mode. I had to hold the buttons down for recovery while installing the battery.
