hello friends I need to change the baseband of my xperia play from european to the Latin American-based band can anyone help
Use flashtool to flash a rom for the area you wan't. The relevent radio will be included in the .tft file, you can choose to flash the whole rom or just the radio.

It is because the generic ROMs (R800a ftf files) for Latin America or North America have system and kernel files don't have any info about baseband. If have tried with both of them and the Baseband info doesn't change. Also I tried with R800a ROMs for Tercel Mexico and ATT. they have baseband info but they don't work in other countries. I tried to back to a generic R800i version for Europe but I got an error in Baseband (unknown was shown in baseband info). In that moment I noticed generics ROMs for R800 phones don't include Baseband configuration. I almost lost my phone but here there is a R800i version that include Baseband configuration not the original included in my phone but at least a recovered my GSM connection and Edge Data.
So American and Latin American users. WE NEED SOMEBODY PUT HERE A .ftf FILE WITH BASEBAND CONFIGURATION. It's better if ftf file is from a R800a phone with bands open from factory but countries where is forbidden to close band for other operation is also useful.
I hope somebody here read my post and put his/her ROM with Baseband included. I know there are users with R800a here can help us.
PD: I also don’t have Idea how to get an ftf file from my phone. May somebody explain to me.

I'm being a noob here. Ive been meaning to ask this question under the thread it appears that my number of posts is not enough, obviously. The tool says it supports xperia play R800. Does this mean it supports mine which is R800i?

Thanks for clearing that out. One more question though, it wasnt really clear from the post if it supports 2.3.3. So does it mean ill have to downgrade to 2.3.2 before using that version of flashtool?

Really? Nothing happens if I install something build from R800i or any other model?
And the GSM at the begin of the posts, dont gonna leave me without CDMA?
Thanks!
I don't think it matters. I used to have a stock r800at but I installed TrueAncestor v. 1.4b and it changed it to an r800i. I haven't seen any problems in the month I've used it!
Falsh the enhanced version of stock rom .58 and after flashing your r800a will become r800i. Then flash doom kernel through fastboot. Then search for any gingerbread rom and flash through CWM. Thats all.

Yep, they work perfectly in Latin America, just make sure to do a nandroid (full backup) and you should be fine, then you can test every ROM out there with a backup to rely on and roll back if necessary.
Sorry but am looking for advise.
I have used sony erricsons site to unlocked the bootloader and it flashed the rom.
i have flashed dooms kernel and using AOKP.
What is baseband and is it right to leave it as it is?

Just flash this ftf with flashtool - http://ni.0a0.in/files/3432_kznsa/LT26i_6.1.A.2.55_SG Generic (1257-6921).zip
It works. I am from India and I can confirm that it works well. I am using a Vodafone sim.

I am on the same firmware, I wanted only baseband which is from Indian software update like .45. As my phone is not purchased from India the baseband is still on the foreign waves. I am no pro, but i guess that's the problem. I tried reflashing your firmware as well, but still no network. Last hope is to get a baseband only from .45 India update. Likle arc and arc s get basebands, I wish I could also get a baseband for my xperia s lt26i
As i've flashed world generic ftf for JB, does it mean that my s1 boot version has changed including my baseband?

but my baseband surely did change no?
I'm getting 2G most of the time only on both .55 firmwares and .200 firmware which makes me guess that my baseband is changed. However is it possible for me to flash an ICS baseband on JB firmware?

I don't think the baseband got changed but I am not too sure about that! You can try flashing ICS baseband but at your own risk!
