Hey guys!
After I've finally unlocked my bootloader, I'm only missing a little feature - the hotspot.
Is there any chance to set my device up for a hotspot?
I remember I've used Barnacle Wifi Theter on my Xperia X8, but it doesn't seem to work on my Xperia Arc S, it stays stuck at starting.
Still there on my Arc
Unlocking the bootloader doesn't remove the HotSpot feature.

Yes, it's still there, but doesn't work.
It always says Errror.
Or is there anything I've done wrong?
Did you change anything else?
Like DooMKernel without flashing the Wi-Fi modules?
I tethered 1.78GB yesterday, it should work for you, too
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
No, I've also flashed his WIFI modules.
And no matter which kernel or ROM I'm using, I just get Error when I click on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
EDIT:
I've just reflashed DooMKerneL, DooMLord's Wi-Fi Modules and Acronium ROM again and now it's fine.
Thanks anyway.

i recently rooted my Xperia Play R800i to install cyanogenmod 7.1 but when i installed it, it no longer detected my SIM Card.....or any service or signal for that matter so i restored it back to Android 2.3.2 which can now detect my SIM card and everything but the Wifi no longer works and when i try to turn it on it keeps saying error
is there any advice on how to fix it? i will greatly appreciate any help
Have you tried using flashtool? I would try that with the appropriate ftf file for your phone.
I believe Your using wrong modules for your ROM or kernel

After updating to the final ICS rom I noticed that the WiFi really sux big time..always dropping even when I am sitting next to my router!even more it just keeps disconnecting and connecting every minute..I tried the Wifix manger as suggested by one good friend but no go!nothing improved at all..I thought about sharing my WiFi suffering in case anyone experiencing the same difficulties or have any suggestion to sort this out, thanks alot for any help provided
It happened to me once: it kept connecting and disconnecting. Forget your network then connect again and it should work. If not, reboot the phone and try again. It worked for me and since, it didn't happen again.

Hey There,
i`ve updated my Arc S to ICS today via the Guide here on the Forum. The Problem i`m having now is the following: My Wifi Connection on the Phone won`t wory anymore. More specifically, the connection with my Wifi Router. The interesting thing is, that it worked just well, before i updated to ICS. In the Wifi Tab it says "Authentification Problem".
I`ve rebooted my Phone twice, resetted the Router, unplugged the Power Source but nothing seems to work. Although i can connect to another Wifi located nearby, I can`t connect to mine.
Any suggestions I haven`t tried yet?
Thanks in advance.

Hey josephnero,
the fix seems useful, but how do I install .apk files without any kind of File Manager or Connection to the Internet?

Do you copy & paste the wifi password?
Had the same problem and found out that during copy&paste I get one unwanted space so the password is wrong.

Hey, no I didn`t c&c the wifi password. Just typed it in again. And I actually Triple-Checked
Jack, have you tried forgetting the network and trying again? Are you able to connect to any other WiFi?
I would also check the security its trying to use, ensure that it's set to the same on your network.

Hey, I`ve tried all the possible options that are there. The main Problem I`m having now, is how to install .apk files onto the Phone without a Wifi, Bluetooth Connection. I wanted to try the fix that was mentioned earlier, but I can`t install it.
What about USB? Or a sd card reader? Failing that do you have a data plan?

Yeah, USB I do have
But still, how do I Install an app onto the Phone/SC Card? The Phone is rootet and I have Superuser rights. Yeah, and I do have a Data Plan, but the Volume is used up.
Then just plug the phone in set the phone to debug mode and allow installing from unknown sources and push the .apk into /data/app and check the permissions. You do need to have adb from the SDK though. Have a look around on here their should a how to.

ive just read that the cyanogenmod 9 which im using already has its own kernel built in it, so im guessing it has the right one for it, but i cant use my wifi...
any suggestions?
just delete dhcp list and reboot phone
use root browser lite from google market, navigate to root: /data/misc/, delete dhcp folder, reboot phone.
omg, tnx so much for the info!!!
worked like a charm!
finally i got wifi back!
i'm going to borrow this thread, i have wifi problem too, yesterday i got connected to cable network, so now my router setting are on automatic dhcp-for cable, before was pppoe and that worked great, now on that dhcp can't get wifi to work, i can find my network and connect to it, but it's no internet. on the same rom and everything i got wifi working no problem, so the only problem here is that dhcp.
edit: my sister is having the same problem on samsung s8500 running bada and before network change he can connect to wifi with no problem, not it's the same as for me.
any ideas?

You should install the WiFi modules, that can be downloaded from same place as the ROM itself.

Alright, so after having low ram on ICS and JB, I was ready to return to 2.3.3 I have an unlocked bootloader, by the way. I flashed the stock ftf, flashed LuPuS ICS & GB, and A couple of performance tweaks. I'm using the stock rom. Whenever I try to connect to wifi, my phone can't obtain an IP address and disconnects from wifi. I've tried other ROM's and Kernels, all with the same result. I've reflashed the stock ftf, too. I've got a temporary fix by setting a static IP, but that barely fixes the issue. I still have tons of disconnections, and slow wifi. I also can't use other routers. I've reset my router, and nothing helped. I've got an R800X. Has anybody had the same issue and fixed it? On JB, I never had this problem, wifi worked fine.

I never tried Wifi tethering before with this phone, only now.
I am running stock Jellybean 4.1.2.
My tablet is able to see and connect to the WIFI network created by F180L tethering feature (used stock feature, but also tried several WIFI tethering apps from the market), but there is no internet...
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
