Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that when using apps that connect with the internet that around the camera the phone heats up a lot?
happens pretty quick too.. after a couple of minutes you notice it will be warmer than the bottom of the phone.
never noticed that on my DHD.
Just wondering.
I have had it happening. Playing music does that, but Angry Birds Seasons is the worst offender, so much that it stutters and crash out.
This is definitely an issue. Any cpu intensive app has caused the camera area to get extremely hot, and some of those apps have then crashed. I think its something that will be bad enough to require some attention

Hi all,
Anyone playing Pocket Legends on the SGS2? It randomly crashes on me, sometimes 3 times in 5 minutes, sometimes once an hour, just wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
I have background data and auto sync turned off when I play.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I originally started with everything on, I've been trying to disable apps one by one to see if it's affecting it but it always seems to randomly crash. I might try changing some in game settings and see how that goes.
Hey,
I've been having the same problem, thought it might just be me. Sometimes it works for ages without any problems. Other times it can crash within 5 minutes.
Stock galaxy s2, using launcher pro. Not rooted.......yet!
Is it getting hot? Using OC and 3D games sometimes I had random reboots so I made a profile to lower the CPU freq down to 800 MHz when temp getting over 42°C

No I don't really feel it getting hot, although I do have a TPU case so maybe I can't feel it.
I haven't had a crash since setting the battery savings slider to the right, but it also makes the game very choppy. Seems like a common issue with SGS2's so hopefully they fix it soon.
Hi there!
Expierenced the same yesterday.
Game runs pretty fine, but phone's getting pretty hot (near the cam lense). Usually this doesn't happen - well, not that hot
Didn't actually meassured temperature or anything 'til now...
2 Suggestions:
1. MALI (IIRC) Chip -> Chainfire3D worth a try?
2. Modem: Possibly Pocket Legends gets hick-ups, when data connection's getting lost (like 3G->H+ switch or something). Anyone tried playing through WLAN?
bye

I installed tonight for the first time. Been having a few similar problems. How did you do that profile by the way?
Same here, crashes after playing for like 5 minutes. When I check the battery temp, it's around 35°C so that shouldn't be the problem.
Send a dev tyrol the pocket legends team some logs and he dates org looks like the task manager is killing the game for some reason. He can't work out why.

Posted this issue on PocketLegends FB page and invited them to join the discussion here - well, this is about 2-3 weeks ago. Sadly they didn't join, as far as I see...
Anyone found a solution for that yet?
Same problem here. The game freezes and phone gets hot.
Hello,
I played more than 1h without any lag/freeze/crash
Just disabled sound, music, high quality options and changed battery saver to 50%.
Here is my config for Pocket Legends:

Smartphone: SGS2
So please check it on your Samsung galaxy s2 and reply if this works.

Hello! I've been lurking for a while now, in hopes that someone would figure it out. The battery saving-settings worked for a while, but then I experienced freezing again.
After reading a thread in the official PL forums i tried this:
I downloaded the winamp music player app and made it my default player.
(i did this because the only logs they've recieved that contained a crash, were sound related "libsoundpool.so")
After doing that, I have played two runs through all Forest Haven levels without the game freezing!
One run without sound, and one run with sound.
Both runs with high quality, and all that. No battery saving settings.
Maybe it'll start freezing again in a while. But give it a try if you want.
(newbie, so I can't post outside links, but the thread I'm referring to is in "Technical Issues and Bugs" section, titled "sound effects occur despite being turned off", and the answer came from Otukura)
Edit: Nope, froze again. Once in Forest Haven, and about 4 times when fighting keeper...
Guys who are using Lite'ning 1.5 ROM, can you try to:
Clear memory in (stock) Task Manager
Launch (stock) Music app and leave it open in background
Play Pocket Legends
Maybe it's just coincidence, but i was able to play PL for about 3 hours without a single freeze. On stock and Villain ROMs it just kept crashing every few minutes. Will keep testing..
*Most settings in game left at default values (high quality, FX/music - on).
EDIT: So, i've played another ~3 hours and no problems so far. Tried to run game without starting Music player and game froze in 10-15 mins.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT2: ~11 hours of gaming wihout crash. Tried few other ROMs, but PL just kept crashing. Now i'm on Lite'ning 1,5 again and game works.

You don't need Pocket Legends anymore now that Order & Chaos is out.

Lite'ning 1,5 ROM + music app runing in the background does the job, no single freeze. Confirmed by two other guys.
After rooting and doing a hard reset my nitro is significantly faster, but I'm still experiencing stuttering on high quality YouTube videos. It doesn't occur for normal video payback, but does seem to happen using maps or graphics intensive games. The playback will slow down and then go very fast to catch up. Is this just the gpu having a hard time keeping up? Or is this a software problem that can be alleviated through either an update or a fix on my part?

I'm experiencing this myself. I can watch vids on the desktop version of YouTube at 720p with out a problem anything but the app seems to stutter from time to time.
Sent from The Optimus LTE
What particular graphic intensive games are you having trouble running smoothly?
Dragon Fly! ran smoothly, although it gave an "Async" notice that I never saw on my Atrix 4g. Fruit Ninja had issues with lag and Minecraft would stick entirely for a few seconds, although I realize that game is in alpha.
Additionally, Google Maps will often stick when loading up traffic, satellite and other info when trying to move or zoom.
Just some thoughts, trying to see if anyone has similar experiences.
Not only killed my battery while downloading the needed DLC.
On top of that, my phone was boiling to the touch! And, after all that hassle.....the game lags! Didn't expect bad performance at all
Alright, just to add...
For some ODD reason, the CPU usage on this phone spikes HARD It's usually bouncing around 40-70%, that would explain the stutter in some games. Now to figure out how to fix this problem...

I've noticed that this phone stutters randomly when switching from app to app sometimes. I notice it happen when I am playing music via Poweramp, and then switch to maps, n when it loads the map, the song stutters hardly. I dont mean it skips a beat or something, it actually breaks the song and make it sound mechanical for a second before resuming the song properly.
Now I don't know if it's the phone itself, an app installed (maybe ram manager?) or just the lack of available Ram on the phone that is causing this, but it's sad and worrying to see a dual core 1.5Ghz cpu stutter under a light load switch. Anybody notice that the free Ram left on this phone is generally alarmingly low, around 130MB left out of 783MB? What is eating up so much Ram on this phone? When I was on the Atrix, I generally still have 300-400MB left free to be used (I dont recall whether it actually has the full 1000MB available or also 783MB though) and I never experience stuttering.
Is this resolution really tasking the CPU? or is it because it has to render these apps to fit properly in the 720P resolution?
p.s. Another game that lags: Jelly Defense, when you have a lot of enemies flowing down the path, it starts getting choppy.
As I mentioned, I'm pretty sure it's the CPU spikes doing it. I have around 400mb free of ram also. I know Dungeon Defenders lags on the Galaxy Nexus as well, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have as many problems. Then again, it was built on ICS
Grab Memory Booster Lite and you can monitor how much RAM is being used as well as the CPU % for each task
Is Dungeon Defenders working for everyone else? I can run it for about 30 seconds and then it just closes. No force close message or anything, it just freezes for a second or two and then disappears.

after a thorough freezing, go launcher shows me at ~580M free on a fresh reboot and usually running low 500M free mem at any time, running 510M free right this second. this is with RAM manager, which by my estimates accounts for 5% in that #

Do you experience any lags on Dungeon Defenders (if you have it)? Or do some of your games stutter like bmxant's?
I've been having issues with the GN2's performance while scrolling menus and playing games. Jetpack Joyride is the most noticeable, with it stuttering all throughout. This even happens with simple games like Scramble with Friends, making it more unresponsive than it should be. Plugging the phone into the wall seems to lessen the stuttering. It also appears that the longer the app is used it slightly lessens the stuttering.
Strangely, frame rates seem better while playing 3D intensive apps like Death Dome.
My Galaxy S2 did not have any of these problems throughout its entire life span, ever. It did everything buttery smooth, which is strange considering this phone is supposed to be more powerful. The stuttering isn't terrible, but it's definitely there, and I'm not exactly happy with it.
This occurs no matter how many idle programs are closed or what Launcher that is used. I've used TouchWiz, Launcher Pro, and Go Launcher.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is this something that can be fixed or should I return the phone for another?

Wow, hahaaa! Thanks a lot! That's silly to think that works. I felt like it was some sort of power related issue and was sooner going to overclock the CPU than suspect that option.
It didn't work immediately after disabling it, but once I restarted the phone everything was fine. THANKS AGAIN!!
Hello guys.
I had some issues with my Galaxy A70. It's lagging like hell while playing garena free fire, my device can handle the game without any issue but I Don't know why this happens.
The problem is when I play the game first 2-3 minutes game works fine but after 2-3 minutes game starts lagging phone slows down and touch sensitivity feels really heavy even game controls seems heavy I can't get fine movement because of this issue. And when I close the game phone seems so much slower it takes 10 seconds to open an app.
And while playing a game when I open the game control menu and close it, game works fine for 1-2 minutes and again it starts lagging. I hope someone here can help me with this issue. Any advice would be much appreciated
My device is not rooted and I'm on android 11 latest version.
Sorry for bad English
It called "thermal throttling".
Most smartphone will thermal throttle when the processor got too hot. Try lower your game setting. This can reduce the heat on the processor, and thus reduce the lag.

I accept your solution. but I'm already playing on lower settings the game lagging also on lower settings. I've tried factory data reset and after that lag disappeared for 2 or 3 days and again after 3 days lag came back I only downloaded the game (downloaded game after factory reset)
I think it's not" thermal throttling " maybe some systems apps causing the issue? Cuz every system has high usage
I've noticed every system apps running at 100%high frequency everytime, I think that might be the issue how can I fix this issue?

Disable you game launcher because when your phone heats up ,it drop your screen frame rate(fps) and also decrease your volume that cause so much of lagging issue.
My suggestion was to use a custom rom to get best gaming experience
It could be anything but if it is related to hardware section u can do nothing. So first of all u need to tell us about the CPU. If it's low-end or entry level CPU u can't play anything on it.
If it's mid-range, I can help u.
I have a phone running on mediatek helio g85 powered by android 12
I face the same issue as you do because I did an update of my os. So don't update your os.
And you need to charge 100% everytime you play. You need to restart the phone or clear the cache of your game before you play. Don't use your mobile data because it will heat up your phone quickly and don't run apps in background like Avast, Facebook Messenger etc. Try to remove your back cover and hold the phone like near a fan and turn off your volume u will notice a big difference and take a break after 30 minutes to cool down and power off the phone and don't use your phone at night power it off.
Also lower your brightness I mean u can play at night time it will not heat up your phone
