Is there any way to correct the colours on the Defy display ? They look a little washed out, a little vibrance wouldn't do any harm. A screen calibration tool would be good, but I don't think that there is one compatible with Defy.
Maybe something could be done on kernel side ?
Any ideas ?
P.S: I'm coming from a Omnia7 that had SuperAMOLED, the colours were very vibrant.
Check this out. Defy has the same screen, and, actually it is very good color wise, almost perfect color reproduction.

I think most other manufacturers overdo colors in general, especially Samsung. I really don't like thei screens, too much color.
And to answer your question, no I don't think you can calibrate these screens so easily.
Would adjusting the brightness setting do the trick? Especially if you're in auto and there is something blocking the sensor.

Excuse the n00bity, but could someone explain what the flashing the Perseus does as far as color calibration goes? It does say the color calibration is better than iPhone - so how does it work? Does it look more "natural" in natural mode? Would I notice much difference (barring resolution and brightness) when it comes to color reproduction compared to other LCD devices?

I don't understand nothing ...What do you mean? The screen is much better than iFail's
Flash perseus, and you get much true colors than saturated ones that comes with s-amoled. If you haven't noticed, there's a slight green-ish tint to the white, which you can get rid of. And obviously you can tweak the calibrations to set the screen to make adjustments that suits you. You'll lose the screen modes, though.
Lots of audio enhancements and stuff like that too. Really a must flash IMHO.

basically perseus rom comes with an app called 's tweaks.' under display settings within this app you can enable something called 'master sequence.' you can toggle it on and off instantly without rebooting. the effect of it is that you get more 'realistic' and natural colors and not the bright saturated colors you would get using amoled samsung phones normally.
i personally prefer the bright saturated colors but the only way you will know is by trying it out for yourself.
Hi, i recalling a few months ago about a post in xda, people said that a possibility to tweak the CONTRAST for our Z or ZL screen, to improve the viewing angles. NOT the white balance settings. Someone mentioned abt tweaking the KERNEL values or some sort, just like the improvement of screen colour that Sony done from firmware .350 to .434. I am very sure that if we can tweak the CONTRAST values, viewing angles will be solved. Can any dev help?
Hello, guys, so during my use to another galaxy (Galaxy S plus) i saw that he has more light and its more colourfull than our phone at 100% brightness , and saw this light with new phones to (like , S3 MINI, S3 , S4 etc) !!
Is that possible that our phone is so bad at light, or just any sensor at my phone does not work ?
OK im talking about light sensor, does this phone have one ?

It has got no light sensor. I suppose you know that all the other phones you mentioned are using AMOLED displays, right? Ancora is using a TFT display (and a pretty good one, in my opinion). About the brightness, I don't think I ever had any problem with that. So, unless you want extremely good visibility in direct sunlight conditions, I believe you will have no problem with Ancora's display brightness. As for the color reproduction, AMOLED displays are known for over saturating them. Some love it, some hate it. It's a matter of taste really. Personally I like it.
Also, this kind of questions might have been better asked in the Q&A section here in my opinion.

ok thanks, the only problem i have, that this phone is not good at sunlight at even 100% brightness , and i thought that thers a fix about it , but meaby its the firmware problem , what baseband version are u using ? :cyclops:

In direct sunlight conditions, any TFT will fail. That's just the way it is. It's not the phone, it's the display technology behind the LCD panel.
It has no connection to the firmware, the ROM or the baseband. XXLM8 is the baseband I use but again, that has absolutely nothing to do with the display being able to withstand direct sunlight better than an AMOLED one.

You're welcome. If that low contrast in direct sunlight conditions bothers you so much, yeah, I think you will need a phone with an AMOLED display for better results.

I compared my present S3mini with my prevoius SGW. The S3mini is having an AMOLED display as you already know. Those displays are having a warmwhite color, so the white is more yellowish compared to the SGW. The SGW was brighter than the S3mini when set the brightness to max. and it was better seen in sunlight. Plus the coldwhite produced by the LCD in the SGW is letting pics to appear more natural.
Oh and just by the way. Both to not have a light sensor and I´m not missing it. Neither missed it in the SGW nor in the S3mini.
So all in all the LCD display build in the SGW is really good and doesn´t have to hide behind a AMOLED display. There are even some advantages in using LCD´s over AMOLED´s. Of course an AMOLED has more saturated colors compared to an LCD but there is also an other side of the medal.
AMOLEDs are matureing faster. LED´s (used for the backlicht in LCDs) are getting mature too and loosing their brightness, but for AMOLEDs this is going to happen much faster. This has two reasons. One is because the pixels are organic and secound because of it´s size. A backlight LED has a much bigger size compared to a pixel in an AMOLED display. Because there each pixel is a single O(rganic)LED.
So let´s say after 10 years your LCD will only have 80% of the brightness it had at the beginning an AMOLED can be at 60% or even worse.
Last but not least. The very first OLED displays matured that fast you hardly could see something on them after 1/2 year of usage. (Had a MP3 Player with such a display)
I was comparing my g4 with my brothers s3 with games, and the colours on his phone were cooler than on my g4!g4 colours looked dead compared the s3!I think the colours werent like that before.Could I have changed something in the settings? The game optimizer option is turned off,and I also tried increasing the brightness. Please help!
I don't think you can compare AMOLED vs IPS LCD
What do you mean...
They have two completly different screens. Samsung has the AMOLED screen and the G4 has IPS LCD screen. I suggest you read this article about the difference between these two displays.
http://www.gizmag.com/amoled-vs-ips-display-technology/39196/
Hmm but if you read this http://m.gsmarena.com/lg_g4_vs_galaxy_s6-review-1266p3.php you can see that the g4 has very vivid colors, and comparing to the s6 the colours arent much different.
Nevermind some more googling showed that amoled is really special.
No no! Im sure ,the colours were much more vivid before! The cyan colour of the weather widget with the default background wasn't like that before...please help.
You can try settings, general, accessibility, vision, screen colour adjustment
