ROMS
Android Open Kang Project (AOKP):
XDA: here
by: Romanbb
Notes: Recommended by me. Ensures best stability and amazing performance. Currently on 4.0.3
Apex v1.0.2: Custom Batteries, Network ADB, + MORE:
XDA: here
by: bigxie
Notes: Taken from original post:
This is a generally stock ROM with mods chosen to add to functionality without detracting from the Ice Cream Sandwich experience that Google
envisioned. I [bigxie] built this ROM from AOSP, merged in mods from CM9, AOKP, GummyNex, RootzBoat, and other ROMS, to create what I feel is a perfect mixture of stock feel and helpful customizations.
I had a lot of fun building, testing, and running this ROM. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
CyanogenMod 9 Kang:
XDA: here
by: winner00
Notes: Cyanogen Mod 9 Kang (Note: In Alpha Stage)
Android Revolution HD:

Eight lines down this one says "What you need: Deodexed Custom ROM on ITL41F Base, Nandroid Backup". Mike's LTE ROM is Deodexed ICL53F, so I don't think this will work either.

This is gonna be a nice thread if you keep it updated. Much appreciated

No problem. We need a thread like this. It will be even more fun once more Dev's start writing for LTE.
I added to my original post. Stuff I looked at using from GSM, but I don't think will work and where the info was that makes me not willing to try.

Sorry for all the extra post, but post #2 on Mike's ROM's thread has a list of add-ons he has published for him ROM. I've used a few and just like his ROM, they work great. Maybe we should add these to the list of Mods you started.

Here is the kernel/baseband from the 4.0.2 OTA:
http://minus.com/mLg8Rmrh7
In order to install, place phone in fastboot by powering down the phone, holding the volume up & down keys, then holding down the power button. Next, plug phone into usb port, and use the following commands to transfer them to the phone (extract files first):
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash radio radio-toro-i515.ek02.img
fastboot flash radio-cdma radio-cdma-toro-i515.ek05.img
(thanks to fabolous from rootzwiki)

You might want to remove the link to the franco kernel, its only compatible with 4.0.3 builds, I don't think we have any of those for CDMA yet

There are a few, but they're not posted on XDA. I've tried three 4.0.3 ROMs so far, and at least 3 or 4 separate kernels for it.
I've tried:
Roms - Kang, AOSP 4.0.3 (forget team name), and the GummyNex rom
Kernels - Matr1x, Francisco, Faux123, Fabolous
I can dig more later if you'd like for links, but prob not good taste to link to other sites. Just thought I'd share.

Well from development perspective, all these ROM's are always in the stage of constant development so they are not finished On the other hand, some ROM's like MIUI or AOSP should get people's attention in order to help developers or give them some donations to improve their work.
This is great. However, do you think it might be useful to add some more information regarding the usability status? For example, the MIUI and AOSP ROMs aren't fully-functional, so perhaps a note stating that they're in development or alpha stage? Granted, someone can figure that out by going to the thread and reading, but it might be helpful nonetheless. I know some others have mentioned this and the OP also clarified a bit, but it would hopefully prevent any confusion.
Thanks for putting this together. Let me know if you need help maintaining this going forward as it will likely become a bit more time consuming as more ROMs come out.

I think Bmarko's ROM (aside from the MIUI) should be added here as well [ROM] << XWKF1 1.1, XWKE7 - bmarko82 & muveszur >>. The link is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122025

Great initiative that was missing in SGS II section, Thanks a lot
May I suggest you add more details : version, date of update, brief description etc....
And also a good idea would be to include Kernel versions available etc...
You can have a look on what was done for the Desire here, and the Nexus S here
What do you think about it ?
Edit : Also please make this a sticky
I will add more info in the next few days and ask some of mods to stick this thread.
We should make this into a poll

That is purely their own fault. If they don't even bother read the description of the ROM then they shouldn't even bother flashing it . So if people really can be as stupid as you state, then BAN THEM

|REF| Your One-Stop-Shop for rooting, roms, kernels, tools and themes!|UPDATED!| 1|17

This thread should be up to date with everything we currently have available. If there is anything that you don't see here, and think it should be, send me a PM and I'll get it added!
Your One-Stop-Shop for all things Hercules!
First, a few disclaimers! READ THESE FIRST!
~Anything you do to your phone is your own fault! Neither myself, nor the developers whose modifications are listed below are fiscally, morally, emotionally, or any other '-ly' responsible for what happens to you, your phone, or your mother!
~Some of these guides will be using a program called ODIN or Heimdall. These are incredibly powerful programs and can save you from what would/should be a brick. THEY CAN ALSO VERY EASILY BRICK YOUR PHONE BEYOND ANY RECOVERABLE STATE! Use at your own caution! I recommend reading extensively and asking questions BEFORE using them!
~There are probably more disclaimers I should add so....
OK! We've got all the un-fun stuff out of the way, so lets get started!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
A note for Devs: If I haven't noticed your ROM, kernel, theme, or mod and you'd like it added to this list feel free to PM me and I'll get it up as soon as I can. Also, if I HAVE listed your work and you would like me to modify or even remove the listing, just let me know!
ROOTING!
Don't ask for mirrors!!! They can be found HERE!
ROMS!
To start with here, lets talk about a bit of lingo that will come up and new-comers will have questions about!
kabuk1 said:
Rooted: Rooting grants you read/write access to system files & allows you to delete system apps & have much more control over the phone. Think of it like the program files folder on your computer- you know how when you access it for the 1st time you get that "you should not modify these files" message? Rooting grants you access to the equivalents of those files in Android.
Deodexed: Every APK has an accompanying .odex file that is a part of each app. They're mainly used to save space & speed up boot time by sort of preloading stuff. Deodexing merges the .odex files back into the APKs & makes it easier to replace files, install themes, and whatnot.
Zip-aligned: Zipalign is an archive alignment tool that optimizes the way APKs are packed. Zipaligning allows the system to interact with apps a lot more efficiently, thus speeding up the system.
Su: The abbreviation for the superuser app that allows you to grant root permissions to apps that require it, and manage permissions for those apps.
Busybox: Provides additional commands & Linux utilities.
The file system needs to be set to RW (read write) instead of RO (read only). Apps like root explorer make doing all that sooo much easier.
First off, a few questions: What are you trying to delete and what are you using to delete? If you're trying to delete applications from the /system folder and are getting a permission denied error its because you need to remount that folder as read/write not read-only.
I've never heard of/used that one...try using titanium backup to delete the apps? It doesn't require you to remount the file system.
This is a generally stock ROM with mods chosen to add to functionality without detracting from the Ice Cream Sandwich experience that Google
envisioned. I [bigxie] built this ROM from AOSP, merged in mods from CM9, AOKP, GummyNex, RootzBoat, and other ROMS, to create what I feel is a perfect mixture of stock feel and helpful customizations.
I had a lot of fun building, testing, and running this ROM. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
I'm finding it increasingly difficult ti distinguish between which things work with the CDMA/LTE Nexus vs. which work with the GSM Version. Maybe the sections should be broken down by device to make it easier. I would hate to accidently load something that only works on the GSM device and screw up my phone.
hey dude, thank you for your time here. I would like to throw a suggestion at you. You should split these up into GSM and LTE because one person making a mistake and well... it could screw things up for them.
I really don't like the way xda is doing this gsm/lte thing, there needs to be more of a seperation so that there is less clutter and confusion.(I'm talking about the main forum threads being segregated).
In for later
Really confused
I'm so in agreement. Maybe XDA should have a GSM and an CDMA thread.
I have a Droid Razr rooted (so easily to root I might add) which is so cool. "
Everything works to tea. Battery Life is 2 days with heavy power use, nav, phone calls, golf course range finder, internet etc! but also I'm also getting a Galaxy Nexus next Wednesday ( very excited and yes I'm going to have 2 LTE devices) and so far after reading all the root and hack stuff I'm left in the dust, just way too complicated. Being a Noob and reviewing what the GN has to offer I'm thinking why bother with the GN and staying with the Razr. I'm sure I'm pis.ing you'all off as this is a GN forum. I should note that I've rooted many different Androids devices and have jailbroken many different iPhones in the past to get the best they could offer but my head is spinning trying to figure this all out. If it were simple and I knew that my with my "Verizon Galaxy Nexus I'm in the right forum (GSM or CDMA) I may keep my GN and be very happy and happily try to tweek the phone...but as of now I'm kinda confused.
PS... Presently I've had a few Martinis
ON A VERY PERSONAL NOTE:
MY DEEP APPRECIATION FOR ALL THOSE THAT GIVE US VALUABLE AND VERY, VERY COOL WAYS TO MAKE OUR DEVICES GET TO THE SUPERMAN STATUS...
I also think GSM and LTE should be split into 2 different forums. I've downloaded an LTE instead of GSm already, thankfully noticed before it was finished downloading.
Another request to split up GSM/CDMA. Or maybe a polite request to the developers to point out in the thread title which they are developing for. Most say, but some do not.
Thanks
[ROM][Nightly][ICS] Team Eos WiFi Nightlies (Wingray/MZ604)
Team EOS XOOMICS 4.0.4 Wingray MZ604NIGHTLIES
Welcome to the evolution of TiamatXOOM.
With the AOSP release of Android 4.0 begins the next dawn of the Android operating system. And with this release comes Team EOS, the natural evolution of the TiamatXOOM development team.
It is the goal of Team EOS to develop and maintain the highest performing and most stable AOSP based rom for an array of platforms. The launching point for this development effort is the Motorola XOOM.
For the latest news on Team EOS Xoom releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #xoom.
--
NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
--
A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated once every 24 hours and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.
EOS Xoom is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.
Team EOS Xoom Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/wingray/
G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:
Use the latest available gapps package available from http://goo.im/gapps
*Note - You will need to re-flash G-Apps after you flash an updated nightly build. You can do this before you reboot after the installation of a new nightly.
Also note that if you are coming from an earlier G-Apps package you will need to wipe prior to installation of this package in order to avoid FC issues.
--
Current Known Issues:
This builds is only for the MZ604 Wingray (WiFi XOOM) It does not support data on any GSM or 3G only Xoom
Features:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving. Change logs are generally generated on a daily basis.
Change logs can be viewed at http://nightlies.teameos.org/changelogs/
For the most up to date and comprehensive listing of the changes included in this rom please visit http://review.teameos.org
Kernel:
Tiamat ICS Xoom kernel
Support for OC;Under/Overvolt
Governors: lagfree, interactive, conservative, ondemand, userspace, performance
Kernel Note: In compliance with GPL kernel source can be found at: http://git.tiamat-dev.com/tegra2/tiamat-xoom/
--
Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery (Solarnz R4c, Rogue, Clockwork)
Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY Honeycomb based rom (this includes all Tiamat roms)
Please note that due to fundamental changes Google has made to the way Android works there are certain issues that cannot be resolved without additional components from Google and the hardware manufacturers.
BUGS!
If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors please report them here: https://bugs.teameos.org/ Please include logcats and as thorough a description of the issue and what lead up to the issue as possible. With out this we will be unable to track down these errors.
FEATURE REQUESTS!
We need YOU, yes YOU to help us build the best AOSP rom out there. Have an idea for a feature you want to see implemented then let us know!
Team EOS Feature Request
Changing the Stock Motorola Dual Core Boot Logo Splash Screen:
While not a necessary feature of the Team EOS ICS builds make sure you check out the Team EOS Motorola Xoom Boot splash utility in the Android Market:
EOS Motorola Xoom Boot Splash
Want to contribute to the Eos rom? Well you can!
Just follow http://teameos.org/?page_id=6 to checkout our source code, and information on how to submit changes for review.
Welcome to the XOOM evolved. Welcome to Team EOS.
For the latest news on Team EOS Xoom releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #xoom.
Please note that due to fundamental changes Google has made to the way Android works there are certain issues that cannot be resolved without additional components from Google and the hardware manufacturers.
Also a note on 3G/4G Xooms- You can infact flash and install this rom on 3G/4G xooms. You will not however be able to use the 3G/4G radio. There are new basebands that are needed in order for the 3G/4G radios to be able to communicate with the RIL and until these updated basebands are released we are in a holding pattern for radio connectivity.
Also there are sporadic reports of HDMI partly functioning. Full HDMI functionality is dependent on additional proprietary binaries that Google has not been able to release yet due to licensing issues.
Also, please note that while the current builds are proving to be very stable, and for users that do not use their cellular radio they can be used as a daily driver these are still nightly builds and are subject to constant development. If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors logcats are greatly appreciated as it makes it much easier to track down issues.
Thank you all for your support!
*Updated G-Apps Package*
The developers working on CM9 have released an updated G-Apps package for 4.0.3 AOSP based builds
New version is 4.0.3 V8
A Special Thanks goes out to gpstar this G-Apps build
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/54DD4VIXZ6
MD5: 4a6a7543b025a17f9536eccc4e5afc17
*Note - Because of changes made to the G-Apps package a wipe will be required if installing this version of G-Apps over a previous G-Apps package in order to avoid FC issues. This version of G-Apps appears to address some of the communications issues that have been plaguing Google services on AOSP builds.
Bug Reporting:
As you test out the platform and you discover bugs please report them to:
https://bugs.teameos.org/
A couple of notes about bug reporting. If it is an application issue (IE a particular game generates FC errors) please do not report it. There is nothing that we can do about specific application issues.
If you do report an error please, Please, PLEASE include logcats showing the errors. It is often time difficult if not impossible to replicate errors and logcats make resolving issues much much easier. Please feel free to add the logcats as attachments to the bug report.
Changing the Stock Motorola Dual Core Boot Logo Splash Screen:
While not a necessary feature of the Team EOS ICS builds make sure you check out the Team EOS Motorola Xoom Boot splash utility in the Android Market:
Eos Motorola Xoom Boot Splash
Thank you again for your continued support of Team EOS!
I can say from personal experience that this ICS Rom is working beautifully. Yes, there are a few bits missing but it's clear that this is taking the Xoom to another level, altogether.
Cudos to Team EOS for taking this step. I can't wait for the next nightly.
Since I have no idea what rom that is the answer is yes. The only time you do not need a wipe is if you are coming from a factory OTA. Generally speaking all custom roms will require a wipe prior to install.
Did you have to reflash gapps and also will the su root file from razorbladex's rom conflict with this rom because I'm supposing this comes with root I just wanted to know if the two root files would conflict?
That's the original Xoom ics rom posted a few days ago here on xda by member razorbladex.
Again, since I have no way of knowing anything about razorbladex's ICS rom as I have never flashed it my inclination is to tell you to wipe first to ensure there are no residual or unforeseen conflicts. With that said, what you choose to do is up to you.
When you flash a new rom /system gets overwritten which includes the su binary so this is a non-issue. This build includes the latest changes to the su binary.
Because you clearly have no cell network signal! Mine has it too. Give it a while: ICS roms are new and have yet to be extensively tweaked for little details like this.
Both play content. Navigating Netflix isn't the smoothest.
It's because these builds are essentially ready for 3G/4G connectivity. However for the time being the cellular radio icon will show regardless of if you have a stingray(3g/4g) or wingray(wifi) board. This will be addressed once we have the necessary components to bring life to the cellular radios.
So after going in I've found the rom is smooth no real crashes even tested a Franco kernel
I'm sure as you update you'll probably add more customization but one thing I'll point out is that your quick settings control should be integrated with the settings not as a side app because that confused me trying to find it
Vanilla - stock 4.1.2 AOSP, which Maguro has anyway unlike Verizon where my phone lives
French Vanilla - this is it, the ROM I posted here... it has Kevdiu's Quick Toggles MOD, Enhanced Power Menu, Expanded Desktop, Recent Apps menu clear all, etc
Chocolate Milk = CM = CyanogenMOD - something I was toying around with to replace the Modded ROM because there were so many requests for features I thought a CM based ROM might make more sense. I don't think I'm going to continue it but if I do another version has to go.
I think I like the lighter modded ROM. I can't do 3 different versions of a ROM x 6 devices. As it is it feels like all I do is mess with Android.
Flashing asap!
just flashed, im going to test and report asap... thank you
edit :well, rom is super fast, using trinity kernel, its just awsome , im going to use it for a long time, thanks for the rom.
I was looking for a ROM exactly like this one - mostly stock with the Quick Settings mod. I've flashed it and it's running beautifully; no problems so far (granted, it's only been about 30 minutes). I'm planning to try flashing some other kernels with it just for fun.
EDIT: tried Franco kernel and lean kernel. Both smooth, but I can't really see a difference from the stock kernel. (Lean is overclocked so obviously faster.)
hey muzzy ! nice to see your rom developing here ! i saw your rom over at toro , was rather hoping you started here ! Dling now and hope to see more development in this if you dont mind , i can be your tester for maguro .
This is perfect! My maguro is right now in service but after it comes back I'll flash it!
Actually I wanted to make just the same ROM - everything stock but with few additions and you made it just as I wanted.
If you'd like to have some help with developing this ROM - PM me, I'd love to help!
This rom seems awesome! Omg this is exactly what my maguro wants Will flash when I come home! Holy **** this will be good
On my phone I haven't bothered flashing kernels in a while. I think that's mainly because I spend so much time compiling ROMs I don't actually get to use them.
This rom were just as good as I thought! Good speed and pretty smooth
I noticed one thing, the gps seems weird? Google Now says I have to activate gps, but it is on. And sometimes it random starts to search for my location?
