[Q] How to > EPST Mode - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello all, I was wondering if it's possible to get into the EPST mode on the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. I don't have the phone yet but will get it in the coming weeks. This is a important feature for many people who don't root, from my past experience with my phones it gives you the ability to remove "dun" from the security profile so you can use the stock hotspot app for free.
1) Can this be done on the Nexus LTE?
2) How to do it and the passcode?
Thanks!

[Q] Sprint Note II Running on Verizon no data

So after weeks of trying and trying I finally got my Sprint note II running on Verizon. However I am unable to get data and MMS.
I keep reading about how its the APN settings that need to change, well I changed them and I still can't get it to work.
Does anyone know how I would get this to work? I just need data!

[Q] Is there a way to unroot on CM11?

My carrier service is T-mobile in the US. Currently, I'm out of the US and their plan offers unlimited data plan (2G) and text.
The phone is on CM11 and rooted. I am only getting Roaming and not Edge. Only able to access T-mobile site from the phone.
Tech support people said rooted phones cannot receive data plan outside of the US.
Can I unroot my phone and still keep CM11?
Or is there a similar ROM that does not have unroot?
Anyone with a similar experience?
Thank you
You should be able to disable root within the superuser app and enable it later. I don't really think that is the problem. You might have to flash a stock based rom
I don't see a superuser app.
I see it in my settings. I go under the settings inside #superuser, disable it. Now, I don't see it anymore.
Is that the only way to disable root?
Thanks

Verizon-Intermittent Data drop

I just received this phone yesterday and dropped the sim from my 2014 X into it and it worked perfectly all day. Today, however, the data has periodically dropped until I reset the phone or toggle cellular network. Are there settings I need to modify to optimize? Any ideas welcome.
Thanks!
Preferred network type - global
Enhanced 4G LTE Mode - on
Data whie Roaming - off
System select - automatic

Sorry to derail your thread a bit... I am setting my sister up on this phone coming from a 2013 moto x. Is VOLTE working for you? If so, did you have it provisioned on your moto x 2014 prior? I just set up HD calling for her on her account but internet + call wasnt working right away. However visual voicemail wont set itself up. I may have to have her put the sim card back into the X and setup visual voicemail on line before putting the sim back into the 5X no? Hard for me to troubleshoot her phone being she isnt near me.
I personally have never used VVM, but there is a check box for "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" that is selected by default that should work as long as it is enabled through VZW on the account. It may require a reboot after turning on if I remember correctly.

Thank you. The issue is that once advanced calling/HD calling is enabled on a verizon eligible phone, regualr voicemail doesnt seem to work? Can you confirm you have Voice over LTE and what is your voicemail solution?
x'm a newbie to NEXUS. The 5X is my first one. But I am 7 year Android user...
You shouldn't need to touch the developer options but it is worth seeing if it makes a difference.
I would experiment with these settings to see if it helps stabilize things.
Settings>Developer Options
Disable "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular hand..."
Disable Always allow "Wi-Fi Roam Scans"
Enable "Cellular data always active"
Those three options, or a combination of them may help. I disabled the last one("Cellular data always active") which is the default. If I need it, I'll select it in the future.
I hope it helps.
Aaah I see, I can't really comment because I have a work account so I can't access the account to enable VoLTE. And I'm using old school "please enter your four digit code" voicemail.

Wifi tethering method?

What's up,
Has anybody figured out a way to tether LTE data through our galaxy s7 actives without having to activate it through att? I have used fox Fi on previous devices as well as custom Roms and tweaks to get this feature working so I can use my unlimited data to its potential while on longs trips with a tablet. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

I think sidesync is your best best. It's worked on my s7 edge, note 7 and now s7 active. It's not wireless, but it does the job.
there is a way to do it using an att apn and then once the hotspot starts up, go back to the apn and then switch back to the original.
it worked back when i had the s7 active.

I will give it a try, where did you find the apn credentials?

**UPDATE** I have wifi tethering working via the root method as described in this method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/help/samsung-galaxy-s7-active-root-t3473649
Once rooted you will have to install the Xposed framework, and activate the "X tether" module which can be found in the root thread. Once that has been activated, you will be able to use your phone as a wifi hotspot without activating the annoying ATT plan :good:
odd, as im in UK... (on three) using my Active, my mobile hotspot works with the inbuilt stuff from settings ! .. no problems whatso ever!?..
Yup I'm currently not rooted, I got into my settings, Connections Mobile Hotspot turn it on. I've never had to pay extra for it or anything it just works on my S7 Active and I use it a fair amount.

What carrier?
indeed groover1... now im on Nougat (PL4 still) have a quicksettings toggle button too
Is3mach, im in the UK on Three....
I have unlimited data but can't tether...
When you sign up for At&t unlimited data plan, they take your ability to tether. Will rooting allow me to make my phone a mobile hotspot while I'm still on an unlimited data plan? If so, could someone point me in the right direction please?

Looking For Sprint A50 Hotspot Hack

I'm wondering if anyone has a solution for activating the Hotspot on the A50 (Pie with October 1 update) on Sprint - I'm on an Unlimited Kickstarter plan, and only need hotspot 3-4 times a year for emergencies where I don't have Wi-Fi access. Shortcut Master Lite doesn't allow me to modify LTE Functionality on this phone. I can create another APN and add dun and the hotspot activates as stock, but it doesn't pass Internet data to other devices. I have the unlocked SM-A505U1 version. I like the phone, but if I don't find a workaround I'll likely give up Sprint and go to an MVNO that has hotspot functionality, as anything with it in Sprint's regular plans is crazy expensive by comparison. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Have you tried the solutions in these threads for the Galaxy S10? I would think it would work the same way for the A50 since they run the same software.

I'm curious if you can get it working, I'm thinking about moving my A50 over to Sprint and this would be great if it works. I was always able to get the hotspot hack working on my previous S8+ and S9+, so fingers crossed!

Yes... I tried that solution... That's where I got the walk-through for how to create the alternate APN. I started to work on it again the other night and it kicked out the SIM for reasons unknown when I tried to reactivate it with the SIM that worked before. I previously got the APN added with DUN and it accepted it but no data pass-through on the hotspot. I read on a Note 9 forum that only having default, mms, dun might help the data pass-through issue and was going to try it, but that's when the SIM glitch occured. Until I have more time I've gone back to a Moto phone with a different workaround.

Thanks for the update. So I saw you're on the Kickstart plan, which I think means your plan doesn't include hotspot at all. I wonder if I would have better luck since my plan has always included hotspot (used to be 10GB, now it's 50GB). On my past few Galaxy's, the hack would just take me from capped to unlimited, which worked nicely.
If I end up trying this, I'll let you know what happens.
