[Q] gmail stops sync overnight? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Scenario:
I plug my phone in at night to charge. When I wake up, I expect to see the notification light blinking for new gmail, however, it doesn't. I then activate the screen and expect to see a gmail notification in the notification bar, and that is missing as well.
I than open gmail, and it looks as if there were no emails since the previous night. However, the gmail refresh icon is running and after about a minute, all of my emails since the night before then show up in my inbox.
Is there some setting somewhere that tells gmail not to sync when the phone is in sleep mode?
I haven't installed any power management apps although, on my last phone when I had JuiceDefender, gmail sync was not affected.
Any ideas? THANKS!

[Q] Gmail not background sync'ing all the time?

I'm running Calkulin's E4GT v2.5, and have noticed that gmail is not background sync'ing and alerting like it used to ( no idea how long its been not doing it ). I made sure background data and auto-sync are on, but it seems gmail only 'sync's when i hit the power button to check to see why i havent gotten any notifications.. then within a second or two, it does the notification thing.
Any idea how I might fix this?

Notification tone driving me crazy

I just moved to my S3 from my E4GT. I loaded all my programs and now I get this random notification tone every so often. It could happen at different times, 15 minutes, 1 minute, 18 minutes between each tone. The thing that is driving me crazy is it doesn't have any icon in the task bar letting me know what program is doing this. I have checked through every program that I can think of and none of them has this particular tone and I know they all have a task bar icon. The newest app I installed around this time was Falcon For Twitter, but I have put it silent notifications and also changed the tone and it appears it is not from this app.
Ugh, I don't want to uninstall one app at a time, but it might come to that.
what does the tone sound like?
Turn off Auto-Sync for a while and see if that stops it. It seems like I heard a similar sound when I first installed this ROM, but I always turn auto sync off to save battery and I haven't heard it since.
Did you check the email app?
Of it only happens on WiFi check to see if you have the box labeled check for internet connection under advanced in wifi, if your internet drops I.e. still connected but it doesn't have and download it will alert you

I finally found it. When Yahoo mail updated it turned on notifications. I thought I shut it off but it only turned off the visual notification not the audio.

Unable to Shut Off Default Calendar Notifications

OK, this is a bit minor, but it is really bugging me. I use Business Calendar Pro for my calendar. I turn on notification with Business Calendar, and then turn them off in the Android calendar. That way I won't get two notifications. This has worked with the past three HTC phones.
The problem is that no matter what I do, I can't get the built in calendar to stop posting reminders. Every time a reminder goes off, I get two notifications. I've gone into the default calendar app and made sure the notifications are off, but when I get a reminder, it appears that the setting gets turned back on. This is not one of the apps that can be disabled either.
I've also gone in and deselected all calendars from the app, so that it should not in theory contain any appointments anyway.
I'm not rooted, but I'm hoping someone else has had this and found an answer.

No notifications when the phone screen is off

Hello,
As the title says, I'm having a problem with notifications when the screen is off.
I'm not getting notifications from Yahoo Mail, unless the screen is turned on...and I do get them ONLY if the app is opened.
I had Asus Zenfone 2 before this and I'm used to always closing my apps after using them by using the "Recent apps" button.
Even if I closed all the apps, i would still receive notifications from Yahoo Mail and Skype.
But now things happen like this: if the app is closed, I'm not getting any notifications.
If the app is left open, I get nofications only if the screen is on, if it's off, I get notifications for a while, but if for example I try
to send test e-mail after like 30-40 minutes from my Gmail account, I won't get the notification.
The Auto Manager is set to Allow on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Mail is also set to Not Optimized in the Battery settings.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this? I can live without notifications if needed, but I'd rather have them working.
Thank you in advance.

VERY buggy Notifications

Recently purchased the s9 (GM-G960F). However, I've noticed that the notifications are really buggy. I don't receive ANY notifications for my Gmail, Instagram sometimes works but when it does, 80% of the time it only vibrates with no sound. With WhatsApp, I only receive notifications for every 10 or so messages, and most of the time it only vibrates.
Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram are unmonitored from the battery
All notifications are on and set to urgent (so I get sound and pop up on the screen)
Notification sound is set to "skyline" (default notification sound)
I've tried using other notification sounds but no luck
I've looked in advanced notifications and I can't find anything wrong
Reset phone twice and still nothing
I've cleared the cache a number of times for each app that notifications don't work
Any help?

Thanks, I installed it this morning. However, there is no difference. Notifications are still buggy
Check that you didn't enable any battery saving feature or install any on your phone including those that stops applications from accessing the internet or updating in the background. Also check the status bar in the settings, "Show Recent Notifications Only" should be turned off.

I've checked and no battery saving features are activated for WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. (I've even turned off the save data feature in Instagram and Twitter), As for Gmail, nothing shows in the battery settings to unmonitor it.
Show recent notifications is off (it's one of the first things I did when I set up the phone)
My current Apps that I have installed are:
WhatsApp
Instagram
Twitter
Google Authenticator
Spotify
Snapseed
The rest of the apps came pre-installed on the device (Youtube, Gmail, Drive, Maps...)
I've started to uninstall one by one the Apps i've installed to see if it fixes it. So far I've tried Spotify and Instagram, but no fixes were made.
I've even gone into recovery mode and cleared the whole cache.
