Verizon Galaxy Nexus lasted only 3 hours and 40 minutes

Sorry you've been having bad battery life, but mine has been pretty good.
Btw,aren't you that guy who even started a previous topic on how your GNex's battery lasted only 30 minutes or something?

my batt life is as good or better than my Rezound was,
Easily lasts from 10am-12midnight and have batt life left.

Could always just throw it on CDMA-only mode. That's how I have it now and by the end of the day it's still like 75% lol

i find while i'm using mine it lasts 2 - 3 hours, but if i'm not using it and put it in 'airplane mode' then it drains like 5% battery in an hour...
then again, it's about how long it'll actually last 'in use' that counts.

Is this normal battery life for the first day of having the nexus?

I just got my nexus today and was wondering if this was good battery life for the first days use and when it will start getting better?

Thats a drastic drop! Id say about normal as well. Did you have a lot of apps that were re downloading from the time you first activated it. After a few days to a week when your done looking at your phone every 5 secs you'll start to see battery improvement haha.
Tonight will be my 3rd time charging it. WIll it get a lot better tomorrow?

That's normal if ur 4g on

It can take 4-5 charge cycles for the battery to really get worked in.
Also, check out the juice defender plus app. Doubled my battery life.

Lithium Ion cells do not get better in any way after a few charges.
In fact the capacity goes down a wee tiny little bit with each and every charge, so your first charge was the "best" one.
Stop playing around with the thing for 5 hours non stop and you will get decent runtime.
Best thing to do with a new device is to charge it up fully as soon as you can. Then run it down until you get the low battery warning. Then charge it back up.
Battery life will likely be pretty poor for the first week or so, then it will normalize.
Deep discharging (to 0%) is about the worst thing you can do to a LiIon battery, because it "hurts" it much more than several shallow discharges.
Also, like I said before, battery capacity won't in any way rise or "normalize" over the first week.
Battery life is poor the first days because you use your shiny new device all the time (i.e. more than later). It's like that for all of us.
My battery life sucked the first few days, It got better though. It really only seems to suck it down if it is hunting for a signal constantly.

You also need to try this manual battery calibration:
http://myhtcdesire.com/tutorials/how-to-improve-your-battery-life-calibration-tutorial
After I did this, saw the battery reading 99% and 98% more often rather than straight to 96% after charged.
Originally, it was suggested by HTC tech support. I did that once every six months or so ... And my battery level is now improved. Screenshots will follow in the next post.
Not bad?
Sync is off btw. And this includes using Maps 2%.
At least with my usage pattern, I am more or less satisfied.
I wish Google fixes the high Android OS Keep awake time!

You need to remember the only thing relating to battery life is not just the battery, it's software as well, hence calibration. After about a week or so your phone gets a "feel" for your battery and gets more battery stats, so it's more accurate with it's readings. That is a proven fact, you need to think about all things.

It is quite easy to gauge a Lithium Ion battery. 4.20 V = full. 3.60 V = empty. Your phone can read the battery precise to 0.001 V. The curve isn't linear, but it's well known what voltage relates to the exact capacity left in the battery.
There's really no room to "feel" anything there, just simple math.

I consistently get 15-18 hours of use out of mine with the extended battery.
But to the OP, if your screen is taking up 60% of your battery, it's always on, your battery is gonna die, it happens. Your battery doesn't get "better" with time. It seems that way because you aren't glued to the device 24/7.
Mine was god awful when I first got it but after a week or so it got much, much better.
I have the GSM version though.

Google need to run classes on how to read the battery consumption pages. 61% screen means that the screen used 61% of the total battery used, not that the screen was on 61% of the time.

Battery...hmm not bad

So I 've been wanting to really test how long my battery could go with minimal use.
This included...
about 45 minutes of 3G tethering
and about 13 hours on 3G. 4G was disabled the whole entire time
As you can see it was idle a lot, but I almost got 2 full days on stock battery. So no complaints.
Part of me feels like if it was not for that 3G tethering maybe I could have got 4 more hours+
Not bad indeed.
Would rather use my phone and have to charge when I get home then leave it in my pocket all day.
Also your wifi was toggled on the whole time... that would have saved some battery.

That sounds pretty dire....are you running at full brightness with Wifi and bluetooth and the GPS on (happens e.g. if you enable GPS for apps and then open Facebook) and no screen timeout while running the camera?
I've had an hour of screen time, and about 9 hours of screen off; I've not had it on to charge at all today, and I'm at 60% battery.
If you go into settings/battery, what else is keeping your phone awake? In other threads, people suggest installing 'Better Battery Stats' (nb, cheap, not free) and posting screen shots of the kernel/partial wakelocks. I can't interpret them myself, but others can...

The only complaint I have with this phone is the massive difference between hspa and lte versions in battery life. Other than the razr maxx no late phone has acceptable battery life including the nexus. To get 5-6.5 hours screen time on my nexus versus friends 2.5-3 on an lte version is just crummy. I know some people just have extra batteries but that short of usable battery life is just too much of a hassle for me when I'm out and about. I would be forced to get a huge ugly seidio battery if I needed to move to Verizon. Even with 4g disabled the Verizon/sprint versions don't get the screen time I get with my hspa nexus. I really hope lte radios get more efficient and battery tech gets better. Removable or not, all phones can be made as sleek with a huge battery if manufacturers wanted. The maxx is proof of that.

Lol, how's this for on screen time on a stock battery? I just managed to get the screens before I had to charge it up, It's the longest I've gotten with my ROM and kernel combo. Last screen shows it's the ~1800 mAh battery, the third line down reads 35/1750 mAh.

Is everyone else getting strange battery drops? When the battery is at 19%, it drops directly to 15%, without going through 18,17,16. Is this happening to you or is my battery screwed up? It's been doing it for weeks now so I don't think it's about lack of battery training
This is with a genuine 2000mah extended battery, minimal use over a long weekend. This is also with emails, facebook etc all polling at 30 min intervals, wifi on but not always connected and screen on auto brightness. I had also conditioned the battery by fully charging and discharging about 5 times when the battery was new.

I'm getting a full day of heavy usage on mine, around 7 hours screen time!!! I take it off charge around 7-8am and by the time I'm in bed at 1am it's ready to go on charge again. :good:
Does anyone stream their music? I take my OneS off the charger at 7 and the battery is pretty much dead by 1:30 pm with about 3-4 hours of streaming SiriusXM radio and some web browsing.

WiFi always on

14% battery left

Verizon GNex Battery Life

I like the VZW GNex a lot after trying a lot of different devices. Reason is because the Verizon Nexus is as close to vanilla Google.
What I don't like about it is the battery life.
Is there a solution?
Not really.
VZW GNex is pretty atrocious when it comes to battery life. The best you can do is fiddle with kernels, but don't expect miracles.
Before you ask, every phone is different and each responds to kernels differently. You'll have to personally try each one to find the one that gives you the best results.
Its only bad when using mobile data extensively. Its perfectly fine on WiFi or using data in a strong signal area. Its still better than the majority of the 2011 lte phones on mobile. The s4 phones do a lot better on mobile though. I personally have had very few issues making it through the day with battery to spare. I have found that it drains very little during idle which is not the case with a lot of phones which seem to wake lock quite a bit.

I couldn't believe how bad the VZW Galaxy Nexus was with battery until I got my GSM Nexus. I have easily over double the battery life with a smaller battery.

The Gnex has amazing battery life compared to the Rezound. I had the Rezound for a year and the battery life was abysmal. It lasted a whole 4-5 hours even with it being underclocked to 384 while the screen was off and with a screen on time of about an hour and brightness anywhere from 50-75%, it also came with a 1650 MAh battery. I got my Gnex about a month ago off of ebay and it came with the 2100 MAh battery and I've been using that and it easily lasts throughout the whole day. I have it underclocked to 192 when the screen is off and even with about 2-3 hours of screen on time I get easily 8 hours out of it. I would stream pandora over LTE for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening and intermittent usage in between, by the time I would get home about 9 hours later I'd be at like 20%.

new note 7 battery life

Anyone got the replacement note 7 notice anything different in battery life with the upgraded fire proof battery?

It took me a couple days before I actually got good battery life. Needs to set in, what I recommend doing is fully charge it and let it get down to in-between 1 and 5 percent before charging again. Don't do any in-between charging, at least that's what works for me.
My explodey Note 7 didn't get bad battery life at all. I couldn't complain one bit and was happy with it. This new Note 7 though... I think I got a real winner. It's less than 24 hours after switching and by this time of day I'm used to seeing the battery at about 62% give or take, but I'm at 84%. I'm sure it's placebo but I also feel this Note is just the tiny bit smoother and less laggy in the UI. Again, I had zero complaints about my first one so I suspect there's going to be sample variances across all spectrums with this.
