for me i think the signal is either the same or slightly worse, and the battery seems about the same so far, no significant difference.

Been using the new modem for the last two days thanks to team kang.
My download speeds havent improved. What has improved is the ping. on the old modem i was getting 860ms for ping but now its only 43ms. much better. I live in a major city and didnt expect the modem to improve the dl speeds.

For me. Signal is about the same and battery life sucks. I'm about 2 hours off the charger and I'm at 51%. I cleared bat stats through cwm after fully charging and waited till 100% again after reboot before unplugging. This is my 3rd cycle after changing to Whitehawk's KL1 and updating the baseband.

Are you on wifi? Or the Tmobile network? Try flashing a new kernel like fauxs. I'm getting great battery life.

Is it normal to have poor battery life on RC2? If not, can someone help me diagnose the issue?
Are you experiencing fluctuating 3g/1x data signals? I am in the Seattle area and am thus getting worse battery life.
Both of you should try looking in spare parts for runaway apps/partial wake lock. Also keep your radios off when not in use. You can also try a new kernel, or upgrade to one of the latest nightlies.
What's the RC versions for?

He's on CM7,,,RC is for Release Candidate, as in this is what the final version COULD look like, with some minor tweaks...but there will be an RC3 cuz they now have hdmi working.

Best answer you're gonna get.
ya man. I have great signal and everything on el29 some people have bad battery life on it. although I dont. but then others may have great everything including battery with el13 or ek02. when I run a new modem I make sure everything is the same version. but you dont have to. they can all be swapped and such. I just do it because I am anal about it. lol
You can't go wrong with EL29.
I have ran ek02 and el29 and I did not see any difference

I worried about some ppl claiming bad batt on EL29, but for me it improved everything. Signal and batt. ~shrug~
Sent from my calculator watch.
I tried EK02, then EL13, then EL26 and EL29, for me EL29 gets best data speeds, but never had any issues with signal on any of the modems..
I have also gotten the best data speeds on EL29.
My question is do different modems affect our battery life differently or not really?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yes they do from my experience. They also effect your signal strength.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I'm aware what a modem is and that it affects signal and strength lol. Just wanted to know if they have effect on battery life. Thanks for the response!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Signal strength directly affects battery life, so that'll be a yes.
I flashed my modem back to EG30 a couple days ago because before ever experimenting, I got the best data speeds on EG30 Modem. So far it has been the same way since I've flashed back to it. I've been getting good signal strength majority of where I go. But my battery drains a little faster than it did on EK02. EL29 Modem also gave me unacceptable drainage.

Im currently experimenting with all modems on Blazer ROM 3.9 Im not done testing at the moment but If I had to pick the best modem w/ respect to battery life right now it would be the EL13. Im in Chicago BTW

EL13 always gave me good signal. But my data speeds took major slow down hit. I might test it though. I am also running Blazer Rom v3.9

I was wondering which modem is the best when you want to extend your battery life.......... Thanks in advance
It will vary by phone and region but for me, EL29 has always been the best on both GB and ICS. You'll get different opinions though and in the end, choose what works best for you by trying more than one.

Im using El29 right now as well. I would say stay away from any ICS leaked modems, and run the latest stock modem (EL29).
i just been flashing modems but i haven't see any difference except battery drain

How much time are you giving the modem to settle in before flashing a new one?

2 days should be enough but battery drain isn't mainly due to a modem. Look for better battery stats here on xda and after you install it you should see what could be causing the drain.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You do not need to"settle in a modem". Just update PRL/PROF.
Done..
I also concur W/EAO. EL29 sofar for me has been the best. All other ICS leaked modems are crap..
EL29 really probably did have the best battery life but I just couldn't stand the LoS. Where I am signal os spotty so I had to flash new modems for signal upgrades.
Sent from my iPhone killer.
For me FC18 was my favorite and the fastest, but that leak made my battery drain fast. I'm on FE16 now, and it's just a tad bit slower than FC18 but still faster than EL29 and the battery life is amazing.

You obviously didn't try FC18 or FE16 because you wouldn't be saying that if you did.
I flashed the EL29 and it's been better than the otrhers so far.......
Shouts out to slick_rick. This ROM is by far the best Jelly Bean ROM I have flashed to date. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881046
It is very customize-able and is less buggy than previous versions of JB that I have flashed. I haven't ran into any bugs actually. Battery life is good everything works:
3G
4G
Wifi
SMS
MMS
Speakerphone (This wasn't working on the previous JB Cynagenmod 10 ROM)
Everything is smooth as butter
Swagger ( how cool is it to have this toggle on your phone, trust me SWAG always impresses the ladies)
GPS (This is Flawless, I got a lock on a stock ROM, then flashed first this might have helped)
Google Now (What is a Siri anyway?)
Apple Emojis (There is no app for it anything, but I can see android versions of the apple emojis on Instagram an messaging)
Well I hope I have helped, I am using this as my daily driver and loving it.
Swag,
JA
MMS doesn't download if you loose signal.

Yes please. 4g speedtests are horrendous for me on any jb ROM. Under 1MB/s. Many others have this issue as well.

I am now using ParanoidAndroid 2.13 ROM and I am even more impressed. I still get phenomenal battery life plus million options and features. It's the best JB ROM for our phones currently. I have tried them all by now and nothing offers you more with fantastic battery life. I can't be any happier. I get over 24hrs battery life along with 4 hours screen on time.
