Dock volume buttons - Galaxy S II Accessories

I'm wanting to build my own car mount for my Galaxy S II and noticed that the desk dock has volume up and down buttons.
These must work by using the resistor switching feature of the usb port as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820275
Does anyone know what resistances these two buttons insert to change the volume?

Headphones with volume control

Hello to everybody,
I'm searching for some headphones/earphones that have 1 or 3 buttons, microphone and also have a volume control option. I don't want necessaries to have buttons for volume. A wheel (like the one on most PC headphones is also good).
I've tried a lot of headphone that come with various phones but no success.
Recently I've found something interesting and here is where I need some help. Samsung innov8 has an adaptor which has a 3.5 mm connector at one end and at the other end a female 3.5 mm adaptor, a microphone, a button and also a volume wheel. The volume works perfectly (because is analogical - it does't change the volume in phone) but the sound is heard ok only when the button is pressed. Also the button doesn't do anything.
Does anyone, with soldering experience, know how to adapt this in order to work with Galaxy Nexus?
This is the closest thing I've found until now to headset with mic/volume/button. Also the earphones sound really great.
Here is a link to a review of the adaptor:

Hi.
Look at pinoutsguide dot com the pinous of 4 pins stereo jack of Galaxy SII I9100 and Galaxy S I9000. (I can't post links here)
So I opened the Samsung AAEP433JBE mic/volume box and just changed the G and OT wires position. Now it is working perfectly in my Galaxy Nexus (I9250)
Marco
Any headphone with control works for me, I'm actually with a Focal Spirit One, and everything works (Microphone, Play/Pause, Next, Previous) except Volume Control, this is the 4th pin in a 3.5" Jack, and only for iPhone and SGS II as said upper. Nexus only have 3.
It's maybe a software problem :/
You can install JAYS Headset Control app and turn up and down with just one button.

[Q] Audio through Multimedia Dock with CM9

I am running CM9 alpha 3 and I'm absolutly loving it. It's great ot be able to get audio through the car dock with no extra installs. I also found Car Dock Settings that allows for automatic volume maximization on docking like Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector does for custom kernels.
I also have the Multimedia Desktop Dock for my desk and unfortunately I haven't been able to get sound out of the 3.5mm plug. Does anyone know if that is possible and how to make it happen?

I'm also having the same issue though i'm not a epic 4g user. does car-docking direct you to different screen like car mode? as you know, media dock directs you to desk clock. I'm trying to merge those two dock options into car-dock as a temporary solution. does cm9 has car mode? i don't have a car dock but only media dock

It has car mode because it shows the steering wheel icon in the notification bar but it doesn't take you to a dock app. I don't like the car dock apps so I'm actually fine with that.

well then pretty much the solution would be merging desk dock mode into car mode so that it recognizes it as car dock temporarily. Thanks for your answer I was trying to know it before I really spend my time to fix it. Hopefully it works...
Did you manage to get this working? I have the same problem on my i9000.
I have the same issue with the multimedia dock. It works fine on AOKP, but I don't know if it's kernel or ROM related. Might even be audioflinger. Think I will try and push a couple libs from AOKP and see if it changes anything.

Pogo pin desktop dock and 3.5mm audio lineout

Does anyone use headphones with the audio lineout on the pogo pin desktop dock?
When I use my headphones with the dock, from what I can tell, the volume cannot be adjusted via the phone and I find it to be a little bit too high. I believe the audio out line is meant for external desktop speakers and what not and I thought I read somewhere that it isn't recommended to use headphones with the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Maybe there is a dock setting within the phone to be able to control the volume that I am missing but worse case scenario I may just pick up an inline 3.5mm volume control connector like this one:

You might try using Poweramp music player. It has a DVC setting which allows volume control through the 3.5 mm dock port. DVC is located under Settings --> Audio --> Advanced Tweaks.
me too.mine is desktop dock which is horizontal

Car install without removing stock radio?

So I came across this thread (http://rootzwiki.com/topic/81906-nexus-7-2013-in-car-installation-without-removing-stock-head-unit/) and was curious to try this because I have wanted to install my Nexus 7 2013 in my car.
The OP in the thread mentions this: http://jycustomusa.com/product_detail.php?no=85
What these are, are custom trim/dash add-ons for specific cars. I own a Kia Forte Koup 2010 and it they happpen to have a custom trim for my car. (See link above)
What I would like to know before I proceed is a few things:
How would I go about powering my Nexus 7?
How can I have it setup that when theres no power, it sleeps(deep sleep), and when power is present it wakes up and keeps screen on? I was thinking Tasker...
How would I go about Navigation? I was thinking tethering my phone to it, seems like best solution. I have the Wifi only Nexus 7 2013.
And as for audio, is USB an option? I would like to use my steering wheel controls, if not I have a bluetooth auxiliary adapter.
Thanks guys

I pulled a 2 amp line from my panel under the dash. You can do this, or you can run a fused connection off the lighter/aux power supply in the vehicle.

In developer options, there is a "don not sleep when plugged in" option. I use that in combination with Flar2's kernel, which include DT2W (double tap 2 wake) so any double tap on the screen wakes the device. My buttons are not accesible in my custom molded dash insert.

Steering wheel controls will not work. That is one area that I do envy iOS users. I use GMD Gesture control, with DT2W for navigation. I also have a volume plug that goes to an auxiliary input on my head unit, but will often use BT.
Thanks guys [/QUOTE]

So I can use the 12v adapter to charge the device? Ehh, then I would have to hide the cable. Please bear with me, I am new to this lol. What do you mean by I pulled a 2 amp line from my panel under the dash? Can you explain how to do that?
Okay, so the screen will turn on with the DT2W and stay awake while charging, and the screen will sleep after the set amount time in settings(when disconnected). Got it.
Yeah, as for audio, I will stick with my Bluetooth adapter(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
So I just realized, what about hot summers? I live in Nor Cal and it gets well over 100 during summer...
You should have a fuse panel somewhere under your dash or on the driver side above your feet. You can run a fused cable to power the 12V car charger. That way, everything is hidden behind the dash and the bezel. The custom housing from your link is really meant for the portable navigation systems (TomToms, Garmins, ect). I'm not sure if it could hold up a flat device like the N7 without any type of modification.

I am willing to work with it, anyway the fuse panel is on my drivers side door and it looks like a bunch of switches, what do you mean by run a fused cable to power the 12V charger?
Doesn't have to be this exact one, but something similar to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Motorcy...09?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item43b3618f71
Connect the wire ends to a 12volt source and ground from the fuse panel or steering column. The other end will replicate a cigarette socket. Plug a compatible cigarette/car charger into it and run the other end up to your tablet. You can keep the wires hidden this way.

How to enable volume up and down on my headphone controller

I have an S-Off and rooted HTC One and have recently got AKG K451 headphones. The middle button works for pause and next track etc but unfortunatly the volume up and down does not. Is there an app or anything I can use to force the up and down volume to work?
I have done a search but all the threads I have come across are no longer pliable.
tia for anyone that can help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560852 - you are welcome
I assume your K451 has 3.5mm connector on earcup, so that cable above will work well. As I mentioned in some of my previous posts, multifunction button is universal and works for play/pause/call, double click to skip and long-press for Google play, but volume controls are usually for iDevices only. There is no way to fix it with an app or rooting. Its a hardwired thing (internal resistors inside of the remote). This replacement cable above has a remote specific to Android phones, works great with my Note 2.
That's exactly what I need - many thanks
