Swiftkey x - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone have problems using Swiftkey X on their GN? When I try to install, Swiftkey will let me pick the language in the setup app, but none of the other options work. You hit the button, but nothing happens. I was able to manual set some of the options in "input" section of my settings. Thing is, when I get to step four of the install (choose my typing style), I hit the button but nothing happens and you can't progress any further. Then if you try to customize Swiftkey's settings, an error pops up saying you must complete the installation first.
I can get the keyboard to load, but there are no predictions.

Worked just fine for me.

Haven't had a problem either. I have been using it since I got the phone yesterday morning. Feel silly noting this, but maybe a reinstall?

No problems here.

Also working fine for me.

I actually havent even touched it since using the stock keyboard which is a huge improvement.

had my GN for 2 days now and been using swiftkey x almost from the beginning w/o any issues. i still prefer swiftkey because of the good predictions.

Works fine for me, had Swiftkey X on my phone day one. Haven't experienced any problems.

Thanks guys...An uninstall and reinstall did the trick.

<Q> The keyboard is weird! Help!

I dont know since when this problem persisted but the keyboard on my desire is weird.
Everytime i try to type fast, there's other letter i don't touch appear in the screen as if i touch it. Mostly the letters appear are y, g, and v.
Knowing that, i then did some test. I tried to type fast only using the letters near my left and right thumbs like a/s and l/k and i did it continuously. As the result, i could see the letter g touched itself while i never touched it AT ALL and then it appeared on the screen.
Then i tried the other line by touching q/w and o/p and the letter y appeared just like the letter g.
That also happened with the third line with the letter v.
This happens everytime i use keyboard (messaging, notes, email, etc)
I dont know if the ROM i'm using causes this because I have tried using some ROMs (not all yet but plenty)and the only one I did not experience this is when i'm using Open Desire ROM. But I dont like Open Desire because I want Sense on it.
I also believe the applications did not cause this since this problem appears just after i flash the ROM and havent installed any application yet
Anybody knows why it happens and how to solve the problem?
FYI my Desire is rooted with Unrevoked way and right now using Lambros ROM.
Any reply is appreciated. Thanks.
Edit:
After trying using Open Desire again, it looks like the problem also occurs with it. I also have calibrated the keyboard but the problem's still there.
Still waiting for anyone can help.
Hi!
I have the exact same problem! (I'm using standard Froyo on a non-rooted Desire).
There's something else, when I type faster than usual and the random letters start appearing the backspace key stops working. I can't delete anything at all and the only solution is to retract the keyboard and then bring it up again. If I do that it works perfectly... until it starts acting up again!
My solution? Well.. I tried Swype and it seems to work just fine! Sure, it's WAY different but it's worth it. It just works flawlessly. And if I don't want to swype I can always type normally, it works for that as well and it doesn't malfunction like htc's keyboard.

Thank you very much for the reply and the solution.
Me have the same problem with the backspace either. I will try using swype although i don't use english often for text messaging or else.
Still waiting for other input which might have another solution without installing third party application or add-on.
So does the official froyo cause this? because i haven't had a problem like this when i was using eclair based custom ROM or N1 froyo based custom ROM as i recall
better keyboard is fab !!!!!! and it works very well typing fast .. the swype thing is rubbish , as I cant spell very well...

Well it doesn't matter any application you want to use since that's not the main concern. I'll try Better Keyboard as well. But when I tried to search it in the market with keyword 'better keyboard', I couldn't find it because too many add-ons and the application itself was beneath them. Can anyone help me with it? I can also not find Swype since there's only one application appear when I type 'swype' on the market and it's not Swype
this is beacause desire has no real multitouch.
any keyboard will have same issue
Better keyboard is a paid app. Can't see those if you are not living in eligible country...

I see. I tried the one in blapkmarket but it's still the same
It's been so long and i finally got the solution after all this time.
My friend told me that this problem is caused by multitouch error and that means hardware problem. He had the same problem but his is HTC Hero.
Then, I tried changing my ROM to MIUI J-Style 10.29 and unexpectedly the problem is gone. From that, I at least can conclude that this is not hardware problem. Anybody having similar problem can try having MIUI for the device's ROM. But maybe some Android-freak dislike it because it has iOS look.

Stock Keyboard Gone

So I was using stock gingerbread/sense 2.1, unrooted, on my INC2 and all of a sudden my keyboard is gone. I installed go keyboard and it works but it really would be nice to have the stock sense which I prefer.
I'm not sure if it can be removed from the ROM and installed like a third party keyboard or not, I really don't know about that sort of thing.
Any help with getting stock keyboard back (preferably without root/resetting the phone) would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to check if "Android keyboard" is in the Keyboard settings?
It isn't, initially it was a blank box when I clicked on input method, and there weren't any settings underneath.

2 ideas:
1) get into some field where you'd normally enter text and long-press the text field. In CM roms, this gets you the ability to choose from the available keyboards (this doesn't seem to work in Sense-based Roms, though).
2) or... if the Go Keyboard installed itself as a regular application, you might go into Menu|Settings|Applications|Manage Applications, select the "All" tab and look for your Go keyboard. If you find it, click it and in the subsequent screen, scroll down until you find the "Clear Defaults" button. Click this to unset the Go keyboard as default. Then exit back to the main home screen.
Then when you get back to the main home page, open something that requires typing and you may find the ability to select the default keyboard. I'd guess that the regular HTC one is back there.
If that doesn't work, are you rooted and do you have a Nand backup?
I'm not rooted, and it's not that the keyboard was replaced, it disappeared completely so I installed GO keyboard manually.

Have you tried holding the menu button that brings up the keyboard?

This happened to me before I rooted. I took it into a store and they surprisingly checked internet forums for an answer. Anyway, the solution was a factory reset. This was extremely annoying and is what motivated me to initially root my phone.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App
I rooted my phone because I had google services framework delete itself 3 times, requiring a factory reset each time. Also, one time it randomly bootlooped and required a factory reset through hboot. I was done with losing my data.

Hmm this isn't sounding good for me. However I may be getting an LTE Galaxy Nexus in a bit, so I'll be factory resetting my INC2 to give to someone. Thanks for the help anyway.

Sense keyboard takes over even after installing Swype

First day with the one x, first thing I did was install swype, the correct way using the official swype installer. I enabled swype, and everything was fine. Then about an hour later without even rebooting or anything, swype was usurped by the sense keyboard. Since then I have been unable to make swype the default keyboard despite the fact that it is turned on. The sense keyboard continues to load instead.

same: i have the swype beta installed and it doesn't pop up when i go to type something. i also have swiftkey 3 installed...not sure if that's hindering it or something.
when your keyboard is activated, you should be able to select input method in notification list

Yes, just pop down notification centre and select your keyboard.
It's working great on my one X, I love the themes and they keyboard feels far better than swiftkey.
that seems to work, but i think only temporarily. i will get back to you in a few days. Thanks.
I'm having the same issue, the solution above only works temporarily, but after a while it goes back to Sense.

Back button not working

Since the JSS15Q upgrade, my back button often fails to do anything. It lights up when I touch it but no action occurs. This indicates that the touch is detected by the touch screen.
I restarted in Safe Mode and the problem does not occur. This lead me to believe it is caused by an app. After restarting in normal mode, my keyboard remained Google Keyboard instead of my normal Swiftkey Tablet Keyboard. I did a short test using Google Keyboard and the back button seems to act normally. I suspect, based on this short test, that JSS15Q and Swiftkey Tablet have some sort of incompatibility. More testing is needed to confirm.
I have confirmed the conflict. Swiftkey Tablet and JSS15Q do not play well together.

Maybe it is not Swiftkey. The back button has failed without Swiftkey running but it happens rarely. Back to the hunt for the cause...

Back Button not responding
Same here.
I was playing either Tapped Out or Real Racing 3 one day (2 weeks ago) and all of the sudden the back button wont respond. The light goes on but it does not function.
My 2012 Nexus 7 does not have any swiftkey installed nor is it rooted.
I formatted the Nexus 7 and it is still doing the same thing prior to downloading all my apps from Google Play.
I've noticed the same thing on recently on my Nexus 7. Back button is "pressed", but fails to do anything.
Seems to occur in several different apps.
I don't have Swiftkey installed.
It's only started happening recently, but not at a specific enough time that I can directly correlate it with some specific change (or app I installed/updated).
UPDATE:
For what it's worth, I noticed one other symptom that seems to correlate with the Back button misbehaving.
I use ADW Launcher Ex, and use PIN security on my lock screen, no widgets. I have the Quick Launch disabled. Normally, there would be nothing showing in the soft buttons row. Just recently, the dotted circle of the Quick Launch showed back up. I mostly mention this because it seems something is messing with my Soft Buttons,
UPDATE 2:
I found a way to reproduce: I use Battery Monitor Widget Pro (excellent app, btw). I have recordings every 1 min, history file size 4MB. When I look at the History as a list, and swipe down through the long columns of numbers, often the Back Button fails to work. That's a pretty uncommon way to Reproduce the problem, but something I noticed.
I have also had the Back Button stop while just browsing through my files using Root Explorer.
I had this problem today and found a cure.....it works for me anyway...do not allow Google Keyboard to update to version 2.0.19133.927933a.
Version 2.0.19003.937116a works fine.
I purchased my Nexus 7 today and it booted with 4.3....had it rooted before I allowed the 4.4.2 system update to apply.
I always turn off automatic app updates when I get a new device....this helped me find the problem.
I then applied the system update and it was still working well. Had to re-root, of course.
I had made TWRP backups before and after the system update, so I was in good shape.
Next I started removing apps I did not want, then went on to update apps I was keeping.
Next thing you know...the back button stops working for most operations.
After it aggravated me enough, I restored the post-4.4.2 update backup and the back button worked fine.
I started working my way back to my goal-config and it kept working until my last step......updating the keyboard. Then it failed.
I removed the update and after a reboot the back button works fine. Did this twice to verify the fix.
Hope it helps others!

I have the same issue after unlocked my N7 and did some customizations, would you please upload the working version of Google Keyboard so I could give it a try?
Thanks!
I don't currently have any online account to upload it to. If there is one here at XDA I am not aware of it.
If you PM me an email address I can certainly send the APK for the working version.

[Q] Lux problem

Since i had Lux installed on my G2 and found it to work very well ,i thought i would load it onto my Gpad.Shortly after i found that when doing any kind of typing the keyboard would keep giving me the wrong letter ,ie if i pressed A i would get something random like a J,then if i pressed to delete that letter the screen would get a blue line all around it and become unresponsive.
I did a reset and loaded my apps one at a time, and found that if Lux was enabled the keyboard would play up and lag ,disabling it made everything fine,i have now uninstalled and everything is normal.
Anyone else experience anything like this ?.I have emailed the writer of the app ,don't know if i will get a reply.
Thats odd, i dont have that issue. Running Lux Lite
using swiftkey though
No problems here running full version of Lux and SwiftKey..

I am using the full version and the stock keyboard, but it also happens with Swype, tried again today ,same problem,no problems on my phone though (G2).
