Does anyone know of anything I could flash or. Possibly change in the build prop to improve the speaker quality. Basically just trying to make my notification and ringers sound better overall.

Umm no, the speaker itself is the limitation, not software. Put a 3-way speaker in there and it will sound better, but obviously you aren't going to find a three way speaker thats less than a centimeter big.
Using cdma workshop you can change the volume levels of the speakers. Just do a search for it. Also u need to be on a sense rom to use dialer codes.

Hello, does anyone know if there is a volume limitation (usually there is due to european legislation, don't know in the US).
If so is there a tweak to increase the volume (of the speaker mostly, and also earphones)?
I do not use it to play music out loud (i hate those doing it) but sometimes i miss some calls when in a noisy/crowded place, even with the vibrate and the "increase when in pocket" option. My remedy for now is to increase the gain of an audio mp3 with Audacity, and set it as a rigtone (i put it in /ringtones/ on the sdcard) it works but with a lot of distorsion...
PS: I'm on Virtuous 1.0.1
There are apps that can do this.. one is called dspmanager.apk and comes with cyanogenmod... but they all cause distorton..

Only distortion if you don't know what your doing..
Open Dspmanager than enable equalizer, increase each bitrate of the EQ slightly.
Put the signal strength to moderate than play a song with a lot of bass to test.
If its distorted, decrease the bit rate or turn signal strength to slightly.
I combine dspmanager with power-amp for some insane eq.
thanks i didn't know about this app, somehow it does on the phone what i was doing with Audacity.
My question still remains, is there any hint of some AVLS on the G2?
Well PowerAmp is a must for me when playin music thru my headphones. Like previous post says, DSP Manager is the fix. Just dont try and overdo the settings.
hi i have a htc g2 and the loud speaker on the back sucks has anyone found a way to make it louder or is there a beter speaker that i can get to make it louder i love this phone otherwise
thanks in advance from a newbe

will it make it louder than stock high setting?
Yes. Full eq for speaker, phone, and blutooth. You have to flash the zip which you can find in xboarders thread

To clarify, clamman asked if DSP manager can increase the volume of the speaker, not change the EQ. I am curious as well..

To clarify..the first word in my post is YES. To clarify an eq adjusts the volume...that's what eq's are for

I don't think you know exactly what an equalizer is or what it does. An equalizer adjusts the intensities of specific frequency bands independently. For example, it lets you increase the intensity of bass frequencies and lower the treble frequencies if you wish.

Equalizers are NOT volume knobs.

no one has any ideas to make it louder? i need help please lol
The speaker already gets fuzzy at max volume. It's pointless to try and use software to force it to get louder, it's not a high quality speaker.
I'd be more inclined to take it apart, and replace the speaker with a higher quality one, but that's only if you're really willing to put some effort into things.

where can i get a louder and better speaker that will fit?
I have no idea how loud you want your G2 speakers especially when the speakers are not the best ever. However I believe if you are running a sense rom and you flash the Unity Kernel (In my signature) it supports a 20% audio boost you may try that. They are also currently looking for another way to boost audio so maybe in awhile the audio boost will be greater.

So.. increase the volume of all frequencies and then you increased the overall volume?

It depends on whether the said equalizer (such as DSP) is actually boosting the frequencies above their "normal" levels, or just allows you to "cut" the various frequencies below their present level.
For anyone on Gingerbread, the app Volume+ allows you to boost actual volume, in addition to an equalizer, and with different profiles for headset, speaker and Bluetooth. The volume increase is not huge, but its definitely helpful. Its a paid app on the Market, but free on the dev's website:

got app installed but makes it quiter not louder anyone know why?
does anyone know of any mod or hack that i can flash that would make the ringtones and notifications louder? i know switching between some ROMS that some are louder then the others, im guessing the developers bake them in, but is there something that i can flash that would do the same thing?
I'm sure there is a way, but just be aware you are risking blowing your speaker. I can't count the number of "blown speaker" threads on here lately.
You can use something like DSPManager to increase the sound overall. There are other "Equalizer" apps in the Market as well. While they're mainly made for music, all sounds are effected. Just mess around with the settings until you get the sound the way you want it.
As mentioned earlier, be careful. You could blow a speaker. Music can also be distorted if you aren't careful with what settings you use.

Pretty much your only option. Also, the bass is the most likely culprit for a blown speaker. lol
Anybody know of an app or a mod that can significantly turn down mic sensitivity while shooting video. That way when your at a concert the sound doesn't come through all muffled and distorted?
Bump

I wish someone would or could fix this, its been asked before I'm just not sure its possible or not. I assume the mic gain just needs to be lowered...but who knows. Should be possible in kernel code unless its hidden.
Spoilt by the Voodoo Sound settings on my Galaxy S.. i'd really like to have the ability to do this on the Nexus to record on concerts..

DSP manager. Open it open speaker then open the equalizer and put all the bars to the top and make sure you enable the equalizer

Nothing new sound firmware cant fix
Anyone else get a weird whine off of the headphone jack stock?

Not me. I've used a variety of ear phones too
Does this have the possibility of blowing the speakers out over time? On my previous phone, I'm pretty sure maxing out those values borked my headphones.
I seem to have no effect on line out improvement with any of the dsp managers.
Not sure why. Flashing through recovery properly and all...

Make sure your settings look this. If you flashed other stuff it might conflict with the app
Edit: its very hit and miss with the headset volume. Speaker works great though

Go to your settings/sound/Music effects and select dsp manager or whatever else you are using instead of the default MusicFX.
I've found these settings to give some deep and clean bass, similar to Voodoo Sound.
Exactly what my ears like hearing.
