(Q) Key Combo To Enter Recovery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone know if this phone has a key combo that will get you into recovery and or reboot your device? My sgs2 has this feature. All you have to do is hold all three buttons for a few seconds and it reboots, a couple seconds longer than that it reboots into recovery. I really hope that samsung implemented a similar feature because that came in handy

Vol up + vol down + power
it brings you to a bootloader. press vol down until you see Recovery and when it goes there hit Power.

This does not work if the device is really hung, e.g. if /init is bad. For that situation is there any alternative to pulling the battery? I'm hoping to preserve /proc/last_kmsg, which only a soft reset does.

Not that I'm aware of, the phone won't even respond to any commands through the prompt unless your in fastboot or android.

lmfao relax. Hold your volume button down, hold the end key down(the button you hang up the phone with) then push the power button.
When your phone boot you should see a gray screen that say serial, plug your device into the computer and serial should change into usb. Then run the rom and there u go

Doesn't that trigger Ramdump mode (well, I don't know what that means, actually)?
All the OP needs is to go to Bootloader Mode to flash a ROM via USB. Bootloader is easily accessed by: Turn off phone, then press/hold Volume Down + Power button.
thanks guys, ive been using android, and never a minmo device, thanks everyone!!

If you read the sticky posting on Task29, you would see it tells you that this is normal behavious for Task29, and it also tells you how to get out of it

Sortof. I just tried task29 for the first time a few days ago. I freaked out when I got in the same situation as him, but then read through the thread. There's the option of shutting the phone off, and pressing vol down + power key. I ended up doing vol down + power key + push reset with stylus at the startup screen. Simplest solution for me.
taking off the battery, istnt that simplest?
Amd here is the theme about this

In the very first posting of the Task29 thread, it says :
When phone boots to "Touch Pro 2" screen (or whatever your splash screen happens to be), I hold down the volume down button while hitting the reset button.

IMO, the smartest thing to do is when Task29 is near 100% (I think it pauses at around 96%), hold down the Volume Down button. That way, when the phone (tries to) reboots, it goes straight to Bootloader.
thanks all you have been more than helpful, ive been using this site for a while (for my android device) but just recently made an account. All of you keep on getting it done!!!
Moved as not ROM Development.

Hey, I have a Touch Pro2 and I tried the key combination above and it didn't work for me. I did get it to work however using the send key (green button) instead of the end key....
I.e, held volume down button, held send key and pressed power key once... ;-)
Phone MUST be off before doing the key combo...

[Q] Boot Menu buttons gone or boot menu skipped?

Hello folks,
I installed the following rom today. Knowing that its a developer rom I realy wanted to try it out. And its working like a charm, but...
now i got 1 problem.
I cant get into the boot menu anymore.
Normally I had to press (power + volume down) to get into the boot menu. Its not responding anymore when i press those buttons.
But the power button also reacts completely different now.
Before I had to press the power button shortly to start the operating system. Now i have to hold it for a little while (which is of course very good, prevents from accidentally starting your device when its for example in ur pocket).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040121&highlight=sense+3.0
Any ideas how i can still get into the boot menu?
I got s-off and hboot data++
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Try Backbutton and Power or pull the battery and test it again whit power + vol down.
Pulling the battery out seemed to do the trick. Any idea how come? Do i have to pull out the battery everytime i want to go in boot modus now (as some sort of protection) or was the system just stuck?
Anyway thanks a lot!
Edit: Yes it seems that i have to pull out the battery everytime now. But the operating system seems to be starting a looooot faster.
i have the same Problem whit my Device- If i make it S-off i come never in my Recovery- Only whit (Phone On) Powerbutton > Reboot > Recovery - or - Pull Battery
So you can't reach bootloader from phone off by using the volume down and power buttons pressed together and held for a few seconds - without pulling the battery first?
That's odd.
I think this standard entry to bootloader should remain the same regardless if any rom you flash, as flashing roms doesn't touch the bootloader at all.
Sounds like it might be fastboot doing this - Settings, Applications, Fastboot tickbox.
If checked, I see the same behavior as what you've described here.
If I take the tick out of the box, booting takes longer, but I can get into recovery/bootloader every time.

[Q] How to get out of stock Android system recovery (power button won't select)

Okay here's the run down. I'm on JB and rooted, and was about to apply the new FreeGee bootloader unlock, when I wanted, out of sheer curiosity, to check to see if I could get into the stock recovery by holding powering off and then holding Vol Down + Power. Ever since I rooted it didn't seem to work anymore, but I didn't have a need to boot into since manually applying the JB update.
Anyway, neither Vol Down+Power of Vol Up+Power worked, the phone just booted normally. So, I decided to use ADB to boot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery". It worked, and the stock recovery loaded up. I can scroll up and down using the volume keys, but for some reason cannot select any option by pressing the power button. If I hold the power button down, the phone will appear to restart, but it boots right back into the stock Android system recovery, where again, I cannot simply select any choice with the power button. ADB doesn't list the device since I'm in recovery, and I only have fastboot installed on my lapton running XP which isn't available at the moment (I'm on OSX 10.6).
I'm thinking pulling the battery may work, but I don't have my torx screw driver handy. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps where to get fastboot for OSX (it appears to still be missing from Android SDK). Thanks.
EDIT: SOLVED - Turns out in stock recovery, the soft menu button (the one on the bottom right) is used to make the selection, not the power button like in the custom recoveries. Still not sure why the Power+Vol. Down doesn't work to boot into the stock system recovery.
Use the menu button to select now.
what dm said. they wont be lit up but they still work
Yeah, I figured that out almost immediately after posting this (feel dumb now). Thanks though.
Any idea why the key combo Vol. Down + Power no longer works to boot into stock recovery? Seems odd that it worked before when manually updating to JB.
Hello. Can you tell me another solution. I have similar problem. Stuck in recovery mode with faulty power button, and can't get out of there. It's not working with menu button. Is there a way to do it with SD memory card? Thanks.

Not working power button and recovery with "no command." issue

Hi all, have two problems:
1) My power button stopped working long time ago. But it's some mysterious. It doesn't turn off or on screen and it doesn't accept options in bootloader. But it DOES reboot tablet if I hold power button.
I was trying to clean button with alcohol and make it work, but nothing helps. I think that button replacement won't help (I didn't try).
2) I wanted to install new ROM, but I can't. I stopped after flashing recovery, 'cause "No command."-screen appears, where I should use my NOT WORKING power button.
So my questions are:
1)any suggestions about the problem with power button? (Solution of this problem will solve second problem)
2) how to enter custom recovery without using power button if I had "No commans." stock recovery screen?
Thanks a lot!
Type "adb reboot recovery" from inside Android. Same for rebooting to fastboot or bootloader. It's easier, especially on the Pixel 2, than trying to get button presses correct.
If you can hold the button down and reboot it's apparently working physically.

Thanks for quick reply.
Yeah, I enter recovery by "adb reboot recovery", but I have then "No command." screen where I need my power button to skip this screen and enter TWRP.
I've not seen that screen with TWRP, only with the stock recovery.

Interesting. I opened my N7 to check the buttons connector's configuration. Please verify the following:
disconnect the battery and measure pin 1 and 8 with an ohmmeter while pressing the power button - I get <1oHm (short)
reconnect the battery and measure voltage on pin 1 - I get 4.0V
Well?

Note is stuck in a bootloop - and I can't seem to install recovery/not sure if it's corrupt

Hey all,
Hope you've been keeping safe and well.
So I was flashing the new PixelExperience ROM - and seems like I made an error somewhere along the way.
I'm looking to return to stock, and then give the process another shot - but at the moment my phone is stuck in a bootloop.
The bootloader is unlocked - and the boot goes through the following screens before rebooting:
1. Samsung Logo
2. "The phone's bootloader in unlocked....Press power key to continue"
3. Samsung Note 10+ Logo Screen.
I'm trying my best to try and boot into either download or recovery mode, but to no avail - it just restarts the bootloop on each combination I've tried.
Any solutions on how to get moving with this?
Thanks!

Timing will be the key. To help out, boot up as you have been, but as early into the boot cycle press and hold the Vol - and power button for up to 5 seconds (until phone manually shuts off) [it will actually reboot the phone])), then the instant it powers off and begins to power back on (try a few times to get used to the timing) press and hold the key combination for recovery or download mode. In my experience whatever combination you go with while booting, the power button only needs to be held for the first 5 seconds or so of the combo button press/hold.
The other button, Vol+ or Vol- should constantly be held until desired mode begins to load.

Thanks for your quick and detailed reply man, appreciate it.
Still trying, new cords, ports, the whole buffet. Will keep at it.
Major flag though - my PC doesn't recognise the phone anymore, checked the USB ports in Device Management and nothing comes up. I've tried different cords and ports to no avail.
I have a feeling that because the device doesn't think it's not plugged in - it doesn't boot into recovery.
Just another detail - the flash goes on just before the reboot. Does this signify anything?

I'm not familiar with any significance the flash may point to. You've probably already done this.....but be sure to reboot PC....
Have you tried booting to recovery yet?
