Hi
CoPilot Live Premium just updated to version 9.1.0.203.
This update includes a battery save option and updated maps
Only problem is ... how do I update maps?
No updated maps from map manager inside Copilot (wonder if its even possible to update from inside app)!
No updated maps from Copilot Central (even Copilot Central say new update dec 14-2011)!
No link or useful explanation on ALK homepage or blogs!
Anybody figured out when, where and how to update maps

Problem solved
Hi
Reason for my problems was:
If you disable "Show welcome screen" i Copilot Live Premiere you will never get a notification for updated maps!
Map server wasn't updated, so when I tried to delete maps and download again ... I just got the old maps!

Well this morning, Google released the new version of Google Maps for Winodws Mobile which now allows Street View. Version 2.3.
Something interesting, when I used the older version of Google Maps (Version 2.2) and hit my location it would say "Your handset is not compatible with My location (beta)"
But now when I use the new version (Version 2.3) and hit my location it now says "Your location is temporarily unavailable"
Progress????
Anyone get my location working on this new version of google maps on their Cavalier?
Oh and yeah... Street View works :-D
Hi Folks,
Have seen reviews recommending updating asap to 4.1 but how do you do it? i cant find Google maps in the market place..
Is there an option in the pre installed app to look for updates? Checked version info and it says 4.0
Cheers,
Mick
go to market, then downloads and see what updates are available
i'm on 4.1.1 (#4156) gmm-android-htc
its not in my downloaded list though as it was on the phone when i got it..
It was at the top of the popular free apps for me saying update available, along with the facebook app.
Easiest way is to search Google Inc on the market the inc makes all the diff, picking out googles specific applications first before broadening the terms.
Cheers,

You in Ireland or the UK?
I am in Ireland and I see no update to Maps available. And a search for google inc just show sup sky map. no maps. I think the Irish market app is different. (crap)
If you're in Ireland why don't you install the BRUT version? Gives you the same features and also Nav!

Will this work on the Desire? Also, as I understand the reason we don't have navigation in the UK version is because of some copyright/legal issues - If we install this will the Navigation actually work?
Thanks.

You have to install something else as well, but the speech doesn't work as yet on it. Didn't for me anyhow.
Make sure you have 2.1 Android otherwise Maps 4.1 won't work anyhow.
Doesn't matter now as it's out officially in version 4.1.1.
Ok so I got my phone for a few weeks now and I really enjoy it but I found something a little weird.
First thing I noticed is that i had Maps v4.0.0 installed and I thought all Desire's come with the latest 4.1.1.
I said no problem, I'll just go to the market and get it from there, but I realized that searching for Google Maps didn't find it, I found Sky Map, Map Editor and other stuff from Google and other but no Maps, nowhere.
Why is that? Is the android market localized by where you are? And if so, isn't Maps supposed to be available everywhere?
Because of the older version I don't even have the Maps Live Wallpaper that I saw in so many reviews.
Then I went online and download it manually and installed it (and I even got the Live Wallpaper), but because of this it doesn't show in my "Downloads" tab in Market and there's no way for it to notify me if there is an update.
Even on Goole Maps for mobile homepage it says "Tap Maps on the home screen. Search for "Google Maps" in Android Market to update."
1. Why don't I have it in Market?
2. How can I get it to notify for an update?
Looks like a localisation issue, when I updated Google maps I just did it from the downloads tab in Market.
If it is a localization issue, is there a way to change it?
I made a search but couldn't find a similar topic on xda or Google. I started using latitude today via Google maps but noticed that I don't a widget called "Latitude" on my desire.
Any idea why this is the case ? It should present, right ?
I don't know if there is a specific latitude widget (I haven't found one), but if you go into (google) maps and press the menu button, you get an option for latitude.....
Hope this helps

Yes I am using that, but there is also latitude widget. I found out that the widget comes with the new google maps (v 4.1), however in my country the application is not present in market section due to the licencing ang legal stuff (according to an announcement by google). Which is very odd because I am using google maps w/o problem, workes flawlessy. why can't I update it, beats me ?
I need to find free app maps 4.1 and install it. Hopefully thw widget will come.
