Leaked SGS2 early ICS build! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Edit: DONT FLASH THIS LEAK!
Wasn't made for the epic touch and a few have tried to flash but now their computers fail to recognize the device and are unable to revert back. Just a warning.
Hey guys. Forgive me if this has already been posted but I didn't see it in a search. Looks like the leaked early build of ICS has been leaked now. They say SMS, calling, internet and more work. Hope this can help our developers out!

Nice!!!!! I can't wait!

I was just about to post this. Looks like Samsung ics dreams are crushed. I don't like touchwiz that much. I threw up when I saw this. Just corn flakes everywhere

I don't really like TouchWiz much either and the presenter on the phone didn't really show any interesting features.

Imagine touchwiz UI raped ics and won. This video made remember how ugly touchwiz is
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

I would not get too upset. The fact that an ICS base is out there even with TW on it means that it will be easier for the devs to create a version without it

Looks just like GB. Fail... I'll just wait for the build theyre working on here in forums.

I think there should be an insanity wolf meme in reference to this.

Actually we will be able to port this as it has all the drivers then remove TW. Use your brains lol this is GREAT!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

If someone flashes this on their E4GT let us know, it should work just fine as the international sdk ics port worked.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Omg the interface is soo ugly. What was Samsung thinking. Porting time. Lets go.!!.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

One of the main reasons of me wanting ICS is for that REGULAR ICS THEME AND DESIGN.
WHY WOULD I WANT TOUCHWIZ

I gotta get in. I know I'm not the norm but I kinda like TW. Ok now ya can start the fires. Let the flaming begin.LOL.

ICS 4.0 within Touchwiz
For the many who say they don't like 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich integrated with Touch Wiz on an Galaxy s 2 or other Galaxy s phones, you have to understand that it's a touchwiz phone which customers purchased stock.. therefor, why would samsung completely wipe touchwiz from the phone and only have stock android 4.0? what about the hundreds of thousands who probably like touchwiz and spent their good money just for that purpose? Just wipe it away from them without a choice? Come on, think people.
Now, if people want stock Ice Cream Sandwhich, clearly you'd purchase the galaxy Nexus on verizon or the international version or wait until a developer adjusts an ICS build which is mostly stock.
I mean, is the logic here incorrect?

Exactly touch wiz looks dumb retarded. Why would someone prefer that over the stock interface. And the pull down bar as well is completely ugly with ics. It reminds me too much of gingerbread and honestly I've had About too much ginger to digest smoothly ics just goes down so nice.

You say wait to buy or buy another phone. But you have to think of real life scenarios just like you mentioned in. Real life scenario not everyone have the bread to go waste like that just buying up phone after phone whenever they don't like something about it. Like really son if that was the case then who wouldn't have a galaxy nexus pre ordered off Verizon or something.

I like touchwiz on my Epic 4G Touch but I like the vanilla look of ICS better (getting the galaxy nexus tomorrow)
For the record, I like touchwiz more than any other UI, even Sense, and I've had the EVO 4G and the EVO 3D.

I have to agree. I am new to the E4GT but not to modding. I came from the USCC Mesmerize and it had CM7 and a pretty much fully functional ICS ROM. I was so used to AOSP that the thought of Touchwiz made me shiver. I do have to say that the Dev's for this phone have done some amazing things with Touchwiz though. Running Calkulins ROM and am truly amazed at how smooth it is. I would love to see an AOSP selection for this phone. If its anything like the Mesmerize then CM7 would be the logical choice to get working as it would provide the Dev's and solid MTD base to do ICS or CM9 off of. any way just my thoughts on the subject. I am very pleased with the Modding community for this phone. Looks like you all have some extremely talented Dev's. I look forward to what they release in the future.

I personay feel that Touchwiz is OK. I just prefer a more pure Google experience. Now Touchwiz on the Galaxy S was horrible but this new Touchwiz seems pretty decent. But I welcome the chance to get an AOSP ROM on this thing and see what its truely capable of.

If we get an ICS leak, then devs would probably be more willing to work on it from there. But Touchwiz ICS looks terrible. I'd make an AOSP theme for it if it looked like that upon release.

S-Voice APK leak?

Anybody know if there's a leak of the S-Voice app yet? Also any idea if when we do get it on our phones it will work?
I'm guessing it will only work with the newer twiz framework but could just be an app we could get.

This is my guess as well. The challanges would be:
Need ICS
Probably need TouchWiz framework (ICS version)
Very likely not enough RAM in Epic to run ICS + TW + voice app
CM9 dev's are working hard to free up 1-2mb RAM at a time, throwing TW on there would likely bring things to a standstill. I think we are reaching the limit of what our phone can handle with AOSP ICS/CM9.
Wouldn't we be able to just modify the S-Voice.apk to make it independent from the TW framework? Kinda like what Tortel did with the stock Sammy Task Manager/Calender/Calculator/etc.?

Says the guy with 3 thanks and 62 posts. I worked in a Sprint store as a technician; trust me I know what I'm talking about. Yes, you can circumvent the issues by doing what you said (flashing a Gingerbread kernel), but one misstep and you're screwed. Pretty good. I've owned a LOT of phones since the Evo 4G (which is still one of if not my favorite). The Epic Touch is a solid phone and will chew and spit out anything you throw at it (especially high-end games like GTA 3, Shadowgun, Riptide, etc). The camera is amazing too. You're gonna have a blast with this thing. I'm actually buying an international GS3 and heading to Straight Talk though, so I'm selling my Sprint GNexus soon.

Nothing; when Sprint runs out of supply of a phone, the system offers other phones that are usually of the same tier or better (iPhone is an exception, will never be offered or repaired by Sprint). Some reps will be nice and give you a list of choices, but most of the time they'll tell you what they've chosen for you. It's really up to the manager.

I really wish people would do more research before saying such things. Yes, there is a chance of a brick, but it has been figured out now and some safe ICS options have been developed. Check out the Development thread and look at agat63 and sfhub's offerings at the very least.

Agreed, if people read and follow the instructions, including familiarizing themself with the How not to brick your E4GT thread (link below), then bricking becomes a lesser threat.
