I'm looking for toughest case for aria to be used by construction worker. (For my father)
I was hoping there is otterbox available for aria, but there wasn't one.
Has anyone seen full protection case similar to otterbox?
Only I cases I could find were silicon cases or hard plastic case. I do not think they will do very good on dusty construction site. Need something that will keep dust out of the phone.
The toughest case I've seen is one made of aluminum. But it's not "dust proof," unfortunately.
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=30981
Thanks for info.
But I don't think that will cut it. Good against drop, but looks like it will allow dust to enter between the phone and case and cause abrasion.
Dust is my biggest concern.
I figured it wouldn't work, since you mentioned dust. There's always things like this one...
http://www.strapya-world.com/products/45593.html
But they're not much for impact protection.
Good luck with your quest. I've gone on that same journey, and gave up.

I would recommend getting your father a rugged flip phone with case. There's no reason to have a "cool" touch-screen smartphone on construction sites. Phone calls only.
Just my 2 cents...
There's no way you're going to find one. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I to ventured down that road and couldn't find anything. I live a very active lifestyle and my glass has a crack in it right where the home button is. It still works, but it's ugly and ticks me off something fierce because it even happened with one of those snap on cases... it didn't protect it at all. despite it landing completely flat on the face of the case.
Your best bet is to get another phone with Otterbox support which is what I plan on doing soon. But otherwise you're out of luck. Sorry
Well, it's not a case for the Aria. But Samsung's releasing a RugbySmart phone that's water and dust proof.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/23/samsung-rugby-smart/
Just a thought, although it does require buying a new device.

As for this vs the Siedio case, I'm thinking this one is a bit thinner and would fit in my pocket easier.
wow like the bodyglove cover.whats the price? and can i buy one online?

It's 29.99 - and will be available at Sprint stores upon launch. You might be able to grab one now depending on how charismatic you are...
As for online, the online sprint store may be selling them - not sure, you'd have to check on the 4th.
Nice I like the look of that case and I just orderd the ghost armor case as you get the whole body armor for 14.99, the bodyglove might be better but I might use both, and then be covered for everything...
im usually not a fan of these type cases but i think ill grab it for the honeymoon period also
Will never get another body glove again. Their tabs break off all the time. Went through two of them in a month for my TP2.
damm i checked the sprint accessory online store and its not available yet i guess but ill b heading to the store to c if they got any before launch.so far got screen protector for the SUPERSONIC.
I've been searching online for the past couple of days for a case for my Evo. I really want this body glove case. I am going to stop by my Corporate Sprint Store tomorrow on my way to work to see if they have any and if they would let me buy one. I called them earlier last week about another matter and the store associate started talking about the Evo. When I told him I would have mine this past Friday he was shocked and wanted to see it. So maybe...and I mean maybe if I go up there show them my Evo and everything they may be nice and let me get one of the cases. Plus I have a Sprint Premier Account, so we'll see.

YES! I've had the exact same results with the Samsung moment case, the front panel is held on by 4 small plastic tabs.
These tabs easily break off just by taking the case on and off. I replaced my case twice after giving up completely and going naked. I'll never buy Body Glove again.
I would be very careful with the Body Glove or Seidio cases. I bought the Seidio Innocase II and put it on my iPhone 3GS on day one. When I got it ready for sale a few days ago, I removed the case to find some scratches on the chrome bezel. The felt on the rear protected the back just fine. If they lined the entire case with it, then it would be good. The bezel on the Evo appears to be shiny plastic, so I would expect it to scratch even easier than the metal iPhone bezel.
I've tried other cases...

I have tried other cases, they are of the cheaper rubber cases that have this interlocking mechanism on top and bottom that were okay, the fit wasn't good but the cases were good. The unfortunate thing is that comparing a TP2 case with the Evo case is apples and oranges.
That IS until I saw that the Evo case is also a 2-piece snap on. If there is no sliding keyboard why then is it a two piece snap on and not a once piece hard case? The tabs break, pure and simple. If the reset button is under the back cover, every time you take off the back bodyglove cover, you risk breaking the tabs holding the case in place.
When I say I have gone through two bodyglove cases, I wasn't kidding. The thing looks good, until the case parts start randomly popping off because the tabs have broken off. Not really a protector then, is it?

Hmm, well thanks a lot guys, I've definitely changed my mind on this case. I'll probably go naked until Otterbox comes out with a case (in which case the honeymoon phase will be over, and I'll be more worried about long-term protection).

Give the Sprint Silicone Case a try. I got it and love it. It's nice and cheap especially with a 25% premier customer discount. It covers everything, slips on easy and comes off easy, good fit, and it actually makes the power button easier to hit and feel.
http://shop.sprint.com/NASApp/onlin...=Carry+&+Protect&selectedAccessoryID=CZH1980R
Its pretty nice. I have it and its decently built. Only structural issue I see is by the volume keys. But otherwise seems quite solid.
I like the look of the case, very cyber, but if it splits the longest way around the edge& is only held together with little tabs, I'd look elsewhere. On a one-piece phone with no moving parts there is no sense in it. I'm looking at the Seidio since it has the smallest seam, it goes around the middle, and is made to be held in holster. I don't like shoving phones in my pocket any way and especially not this giant thing. Second choice might be the Sprint one with multi colors or the silicone one.
I love my Evo body glove
I bought My body glove from the Dover, NH Sprint store from wireless link. The thing is amazing picked it up for $20 (special discount)
When I bought my evo, they had that body glove case at the store for $20. I got it, and I like it. It almost has an "iron man" type of look to it. The thing I liked about it was that it was thick enough to protect the camera, meaning when you laid it down, the camera didnt touch anything.
It is a pain in the butt to take off though. It has the back piece and then a really cheap-feeling front piece, and they clip together around the phone. Its hard to un-clip them at that point. I've already bent the hell out of the side of the front piece, but it still looks alright.
Regardless of that, I'd say its worth getting.
i have it like above mentioned feels cheap when taking on or off but when on its great protects camera lense i have no complaints so far i might be grabbing one of those 3500mah batteries so ill probably have to change sooner or later
Could someone give be a brief run down of the case types and attributes. Things like how thick they are, grip levels, impact protection, etc. I've seen tons of jell cases but not sure how jell compares to silicone or tpu and others.
ok theres Silicone cases which are really grippy often flimsy and fit phones kind of loose, they offer really good protection but get stuck in your pocket and attract a **** load of lint, and also because they dont fit tight they let a lot of lint and dirt in between the case and phone
theres hard plastic cases. they come with the grippy matte(rubbery) like material that a lot of like HTC phone use on their back covers, and they also come painted with all sorts of designs and in solid colors and also come in clear, and transparent colors(like smoke and all the colors of the rainbow), these protect your phone very well but the downfall is dirt and sharp edges.
most of these cases are a bit of a ***** to get on and off and most people leave them on for a long long time only to find out that dirt and lint got in between the case and phone and left horrible rub marks all over the phone, not to mention that while flexing and moving the case tends to scratch the contact points on the phone also.
then theres my favorite Gel/Jelly/Crystal/TPU all of which are the same they are a hard rubberish case that in most cases are easy to remove and put on and fit the phone like a glove (not leaving a lot of room for dust and dirt to get in) not meaning that dirt doesn't get in but its minimal when compared to the other two types of cases. they protect your phone just as well as any other case, have moderate grip (not too grippy like the Silicone and not too little grip like the hard cases) i compare the feel to kind of like the invisible shield "kind of grip" they come in solid colors and in clear tints
Ive bought all of these cases before on multiple phones (G1, Mytouch, Nexus, HD 2) and I have given all of these a chance and no matter how many times i buy a hard case or a silicone case i always end up with a Gel/TPU case, they fit great add the least amount of bulk out of the three and have saved all of my phones from concrete and tile drops multiple times (almost **** my pants when i did it with my Nexus and HD2 though )
with all these cases your going to have to remove the case every once in a while to get the dust out that gets in between the case and phone (unless you like scratches on your phone) thats the common downside to all of these cases but in return you have the security that you wont crack or damage your phone and it will last you
Great write up, thanks.
So is there little difference between the Gel/Jelly/Crystal/TPU? Reason I ask is that I have the t-mo jell case right now and find it makes the phone too big. I am willing to lose some protection to get something a little thinner and did not know if one of the other materials would be a better fit.
I actually found that the T-Mo case is one of the better ones out there. It it not your normal flimsy rubber gel like I had with my HD2, but fits very snuggly and actually adds a little bit of weight to the phone, which makes it feel a little more solid. (once again, coming from an HD2 that was metal).
There are a couple of other threads about the cases, but most of them say the T-mo case is one of the better ones right now. Because the phones are new, there is not too much in the way accessories at this time.

Just an FYI and I know lots of popel love the t-mo case. Some pics to show how it increases the size of the phone. You can see a vibrant t-mo case, naked and G1.
i played with the one my tmo store had when i purchased my phone and it seems way more sturdy and better quality than most (I hated the one that came with my HD2 that ***** was flimsy as hell) my only gripe with that case is the fat lip around the edge of the screen, other than that i like it, but TPU cases IMO add the least amount of thickness heres some pics to clear up names between the different type of cases
Heres a Silicone (like the one at the T-Mo store) T-mo's is way better in quality though

I still have the ones that came on the phone... Still trying to determine what to buy... given myself till the end of the week to decide.
On my G1 I use bodyguardz. I really liked it but two years have passed so I wanted to see if there was anything else that people liked. I would be happy to get bodyguardz again.
Gel/jelly are the same as silicone cases (soft)- not the same as crystal/TPU cases (a bit harder).

just ordered my TPU case with 3 screen protectors (you know since i have 3 screens) and three wipe cloths (in case i forget my hanky?) as you can see in the description its a "Silicone" TPU case, it must be a hybrid case? lol j/k Ebay descriptions misinform everyone

when i "Google'd" Gel case and Jelly case and clicked on "images" a whole **** load of TPU cases came up BTW
^^^ that's what got me kind of confused cause eBayers can list their products as multiple materials and only when you get in and read the fine print does it clarify what it is exactly. I was about to buy the exact one you bought but the buy it now price jumped to $43 as I was going though the checkout process...
thanks for everyone's help with this. Last night I bought a cheapy (link) to hold me over till there are more options.
finally went to the t moble store and got their case. its the same as the one a few posts back that has pictures. I do like it, but wish it fit just a little more snug. im coming from a mytouch that had a snap on hard shell, so im used to them fitting tight. this will do for now. thanks for the info
now, guess ill order the clearfreaks screen protector from ebay... not thrilled, but dont see to many other "good" options at this point
is it true that the silicon type of cases doesnt allow the heat to dissipate and heats up the device ?
Anyone have a suggestion for what kind of case will give me the rubberized feel that the HTC phones have (their backplates). Or if you can't think of a specific case, what kind of material I should be looking into>
I don't want a gel case I think cause its too rubberish and stick and hard cases are just bad. What's a good mix in-between?
http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729133
Just look down before you start a new thread.
I did read all of that before posting. Unfortunately I am looking for a full-fledged case, not a skin or coat I put on the phone. I want something that will protect the phone from a full drop which is not a gel or hard case.
I have this one, it's a hardcase with rubber coating similar to G1, plus perforated holes for better grip. Best looking case in the market at the moment IMO.
"Mesh" case for i9000
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730699
vuvsion I have been following the forum very closely. I know of these cases and was considering getting one for the LONGEST time. They DO look great. But if you drop it, your phone is ****ed. It doesn't cover the edges. I don't really care its backplate (i can replace that easy enough). The sides though, are not replacable.
The mesh case covers the back but not the edges. It's pretty but not drop-proof. Do you know of anything LIKE it that covers more of the phone. Cause that would be perfect.
Perhaps one of the case-mate cases would have that same feeling, but since it's still in design stage, it'll take awhile for them to release anything.
Do you know if Case-Mate is even working on a model for the Vibrant/Galaxy S? I just looked at their site and they have VERY few cases for past Samsung phones.

The body gloves are quite nice
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I keep seeing posts around the forums saying that the TPU (is that even correct?) cases are by far the best, and also that Bodyglove in particular bites the big one. However, I bought a Bodyglove case with my phone at the Tmobile store (I didn't even know about the galaxy S until mine broke and I needed a new one) and it seems great to me
Albeit the Power button is a bit hard to get to at times, it seems very rugged and like it could really take a beating. I'm pretty rough on my mobile electronics, and used to go through a lot of phones (at one point 5 in 12 months), but have calmed down a bit over the years.
I just want to understand if I am missing out on something, and if so - what that something is worth to me.
Anybody want to bash Bodyglove and help a brotha out at the same time?
the tpu case is awesome, it is like a hard but still flexible plastic which keeps the phone from getting too bulky like the rubberish case you can buy at tmo store.
buttons are a bit funky you have to press harder, but what a good case.
Personally I'm not TPU fan... Though I've only seen some cheap chinese ones, so maybe that is the problem.
I will say, about the body glove... If it is anything like the G1 body glove from TMO it will fall apart. The soft outer material peels off from the hard shell really easily.
Sent from my mobile, blame Swype for any mistakes.
i have a three dollar cheap chinese diamond pattern TPU case and its ****in awesome.
I used to love body glove products. But the last few I've had have totally sucked. I never tried their vibrant model, but my last one for mytouch slide was a total waste of money, but the reason I will never give them another try is when I contacted their customer support they told me they have had no other complaints and that basically it was my fault. I know this is total BS bc look at the feed back on them. I use the TPU hybrid and love it.
The reason I like the TPU over hard plastic is several reasons. First, the TPU is hard enough with withstand a long fall, but the case flexs and gives preventing the shock from blowing a traditional hard case to pieces and transfering the shock to the device. Thirdly is pretty easy to put on and take off without wearing it out like alot of snap together models. And lastly, it was CHEAP.
I'm not terribly experienced in the matter, but I learned a lot watching the daydeal videos on youtube. They actually do a great job of going into the nitty gritty of why you'd choose TPU over aluminum, hard plastic, silicone, etc... but they give a balanced look to show pros and cons. They aren't afraid to bash their own products to some extent either when the design isn't what they'd reccomend.
That said, I think TPU is popular for a few reasons:
- Cheap
- Cheap doesn't necessarily mean inferior quality
- Relative to a rigid Material: doesn't crack or dent, less prone to minor scratches, can wrap around phone without a seam that could loosen over time
- Relative to a soft silicone: friction doesn't make pocket/purse storage a hassle, doesn't tear/rip, better impact protection if there's a drop, doesn't grab onto dust/lint
Hey guys, I'm looking for a nice case for my precious One X. The last phone I had lived out its days in a Casemate tough case. These really are amazing, but pricey. The case itself is a silicon inner case covered by a removable plastic shell. My phone took many drops with that case on and survived two years. The only damage done was a small crack in the outer plastic shell. Otherwise, no damage was sustained by the phone They are currently available for the HOX, but come to a rather pricey £30 after VAT and shipping. See here. It's obviously still a small price to pay considering the cost of the handset itself.
I was wondering if you guys knew of similar cases that are better value for money? My only complaint against the Casemate tough is that, despite its durability, it's rather ugly.
Would like to hear your thoughts!
Looks like a nice case.
As a sparky when I'm on building sites dust can be a problem, so I might consider stumping up for this one. Did you find it protected well against dust and debris with your previous phone?
Seems that there is a cheaper alternative by the same manufacturer on ebay without the two layer protection. Not sure how much difference that would make.
Oddly the cheaper case doesn't appear on Case-mate's own site, but it seems to be a genuine seller
Only thing that looks odd to me is the cut out around the speaker. That would seem to be a place that is guaranteed to allow dust in. I guess putting anything over it would affect the sound output, but I would have thought a grille machined into the case would have been a better option...
You have to wonder how much the wifi and cell radio signals suffer with 2 layers of protection
I'm waiting for the aegis from here http://www.tridentcase.com/ should be available in 2-3 weeks, works much the same way as the case mate one.
