I have an issue with my phone showing me all GMAIL contacts, as we know gmail seems to add every single email you have sent emails to on your contact list, so I see all of these.
I want to see my gmail contacts, but really only phone numbers. Can I do this in the messages app?
The display option in the contacts app doesn't affect the messages app.
Is there any way to change this behavior?

Hi,
I have a little annoying problem with my contacts. SMS from Google Calendar and from my mobile provider show up as if they where sent from a Facebook account. The facebook contact has bogus phone numbers ("ob" for landline, "07 no idea" for mobile). Both the messages from Google and my mobile provider don't have real sender numbers ("Google" and "Orange CH", respectively), so I guess the contact app thinks that "ob" is close enough to "Google" and "Orange CH".
I feel kind of stupid to go ask my facebook contact to remove his bogus phone numbers simply because my phone has a bug. Are there any other options? I haven't linked that facebook contact to any other contact, I wouldn't bother if that single contact wouldn't get synced to my phone, but I haven't found such a setting.
Same problem here. That particular contact exist only as FB contact.I would like to remove all FB contacts from my phone which is not linked with phone/Google contacts, but if I remove FB sync, all other contacts lose their pic from FB.
Hope HTC or Google will found a solution soon.

I have this too. And messages from voicemail all come from a friend called Abi!
What i mainly want is the facebook pic to show up for certain contacts in my phone. When i sync facebook, it starts syncing all contacts from facebook into my phone and putting them into my phonebook which i don't want.
Is there a way to just choose specific contacts in my phone and sync only those to facebook rather than FB syncing every single contact?
I haven't seen anything that will let you select a group of contacts to sync, but there is an option in the app "Sync with existing contacts: Sync data only about friends already in Contacts."
Hope that helps.
On the Epic's Messaging app, I noticed if I type on the "To:" field none of my facebook contacts show up at all. But then i go to the actual Contacts app and click on their contact and it has the message option. If I click it, It'll send the message and everything but instead of showing their name in the thread it just shows the phone number.
The only fix I've had so far is re add the number and link it to their facebook. But It would take too long to do that for all contacts.
Any way of fixing this?
I wonder why there is no GMail Notification on the Productivity Lockscreen? Why is there only a notification for the plain Mail Client, but not for GMail?
Am I just blind and can't find the option to activate it, or is it faulty, that means you other guys have GMail notification?
I appreciate any feedback
Probably deliberately missing as HTC use their own Email client
Blame Google, not HTC. Its been ages now but Google changed the Gmail app to improve security and one of the changes is that other apps are no longer able to query to the number of messages unread in Gmail.

I thought that was fixed as of Gmail 2.3.6, I believe.
Others apps are able to use that call function (SMS Unread, MissedIt!, etc)
Has anyone had any luck with this? I would love to have my Gtalk and Gmail notifications on the lock screen when I have new messages...

Only workaround I can think of, off the top of my head would be to install a Lockscreen replacement (WidgetLocker for example) and use an app such as SMS Unread Count OR Missed It! to get those quick counts in there.
I don't know of any app that can give you a quick preview of your unread emails (subject, etc) that's not to say that it doesn't exist; I'm just not aware of one.
can't you just add google mail as one of the accounts within the native app? open the native app and go to menu/new account. you can choose a mail provider, including gmail. don't know if it will run two accounts at once. haven't tried it, and am not using gmail as my main account. so take what i suggest with a grain of salt. good luck.
I have a google apps email id from work. When i configure this id using the Corporate account (Exchange) option in accounts and sync (not as the GMail option), all messages and contacts get synced properly. But when i open any email i just get to see the sender the address list and the email subject. The actual email text in the mail does not get displayed.
Anyone faced this issue and got a way around it. I know i can configure the GMail app for this mail id, but wanted to make sure the native email app works since i have a couple of gmail ids already configured in the GMail app and do not want to mix this with other id's and miss my work mails.
no one with a reply ??
