i was wondering if it were possible to get the samsung stock keyboard ( like the SGS2) on my galaxy nexus? I find it weird that the samsung keyboard wasn't put there.

Hello everybody,
it would be awesome, if somebody create a Froyo ROM which based on the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 ROM with all nice Galaxy Apps.
.. nice samsung stock keyboard ...
.. nice memo app ...
.. nice touchwiz launcher ...
.. BETTER swype ...
.. etc. ...
I LOVE MY DESIRE and its better than the Galaxy (in my opinion), but i also like the Galaxy design!!
My skills in Unix (Linux) are not really good (but i'm software dev ) - thats the reason why i dont create the ROM.
Thanks for your help!

Samsung Swype is stock, it's the same version you get from their site.

It's not that simple. The apps are dependent on something in the galaxy framework. Some guys i the N1 forums have been attempting this but not got very far. They specifically have tried the memo app too
I have put together a rom with a LOOK of Galaxy but that's about it. It has touchwiz launcher etc. Yeah the Galaxy apps are missing but the Android Market has over 70,000 other apps for you to use! You can install Swype which afaik is the same as in the Galaxy.
Hi, the title says it all but I want to ask if its possible, is it?
I also want the google search widget!!!I tried the ics one and it works also but when we open it as a app it fcs
What about "custom ics search" Not as beautiful than the original ics one but much better than the original one for gingerbread.
Ok its Not a port but it does its work and maybe one can add transparency.

any hope for making real htc keyboard to work on our sgs3?
I think the HTC keyboard only works on Sense ROMs, but I could be wrong. I personally hate the Samsung keyboard burning using Smart Keyboard Pro with a Sense 4.0 them and it works brilliantly

Instead, you can try using swiftkey 3 beta. it has the functionality of htc keyboard and more. use the white theme to make it look identical.
Get it here : SWIFTKEY

No need for root. Not sure if any dev could port a sense rom to the S3. It's usually h/w dependent to be ported successfully to other htc models (let alone a different brand).
thanks
Can someone who has used a third party keyboard post back if it shows a enter button in gtalk app ?
Samsung keyboard only has a smiley button and its a bit of a stretch to reach the send button
Thanks
I just received my Jelly Bean update and I am thrilled. The phone is faster and much smoother, Love it. I also noticed the update came with Swype keyboard and the stock Samsung keyboard received a swype update as well.
I had previously downloaded the swype downloader app before I had received the update, did the Swype update come with the Jelly Bean update? I am not talking about the swype update that the Samsung keyboard had received but a seperate Swype Keyboard.
So I have two Swype keyboards, one that was updated from the Samsung keyboard and the seperate Swype keyboard. I'm confused just reading back to myself what I just wrote, I hope anyone who reads this can understand it.
Love that Jelly Bean with plenty of Butter.
Vinny
Yea, you get Swype with the ota jelly bean update

Thanks for the imfo. The stock Samsung keyboard also has swype built into it, never used it because I always used my paid Swiftkey keyboard. Thought I would do some experimenting and was amazed to find that the stock Samsung keyboard also had swype built into it. It works pretty good as well.
Thanks again,
Vinny

The Samsung keyboard has something similar to Swype functionality, but trust me, it's no Swype. Swype is just better since it's been out for like 4-5 years? More time to work out the kinks and have better interactions. Except it doesn't scan my contacts name as well as it use to... eh that's probably why it is beta.
Fix one thing break another.

Hey, I'm considering getting the Note II very soon, and even if this turns out to not be possible, I'll probably still pick it up as it's a great looking device. It's between this and the Nexus 4. This phone has the edge right now. But the reason I love the Nexus 4 so much, I had the Galaxy Nexus before I broke it, is the Stock Android experience, that pure, clean, feeling. Now I know that it would be possible to flash a stock 4.1/4.2 Jelly Bean ROM onto the Note II not a problem but then my worry is that the S-Pen features and the Split Screen Features and the other major Note II selling points like the Notepad and Sidebar feature would no longer be there which kind of just makes the phone a big Nexus, which I don't see the point of really. So, if someone could point me to a forum post that shows me how to do this, or tell me how if you know yourself you'll definitely have sold the phone to me for sure.
SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE II STOCK ANDROID JELLY BEAN (4.1/4.2) ROM WITH SOME TOUCHWIZ FEATURES (S-Pen, Split-Screen, Sidebar, etc)
***** EDIT *****I was thinking, couldn't I just use Nova Launcher or something similar to get the stock Android Jelly Bean FEEL and LOOK and still have all of the TouchWiz features that I don't want to lose? If anyone can confirm this, or suggest another Launcher, comment please I'm still willing to Root if it means I can do anything to get as close to stock Jelly Bean without losing those amazing Note II features.
There is a rom based on stock with all aosp apps for the S2, and there is MIUI based on stock for the Note 2 which includes all those features, so it is possible, but not available...
I'm also waiting for something like that.

Thanks, is it still worth the Root then? To run root-only-apps? Because it seems pointless putting a Stock 4.2 ROM on the Note II if it means losing all the cool things the Note II can do with all that screen! I'll keep my eye's open for a ROM like this then!

My advise is to keep the original version by Samsung charging on a launcher like nova (as you mentioned) or even the original launcher of 4.2 jb (it was exported from nexus 4..I tried it personally and it was fast like a rocket)..
In this way you have a super stable rom with the original pure Google launcher..
..waiting maybe for a custom with those features. I think in the meantime is the best solution
