Is it possible adb to control androids built in firewall on and data service end - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is it possible to use adb to control androids built in firewall on and data service end so that i can use vnc to remote access a PC that is using USB tethering as it's sole method of internet access?
Anyone know of an app that will let me do it?
She's on stock evo, but I can root if need be...
Hi, I have a female employee who because of budget is temporarily
using pdanet as her online internet method.
I normally trouble shoot by using vnc server on laptop and home pc
using realvnc on windows 7 and windows vista.
I can not access her laptop.
We are on sprint....
Thinking it might be a firewall issue, as she had installed it without
me (pdanet) I then setup up my windows vista home pro by:
1) Turning off laptop wireless card.
2) Connecting to internet and also starting smsagent on laptop
3) Verified internet access
4) Got ip address via ipchicken.com
5) Remoted into my office computer via laptop using pdanet using realvnc. Yes outgoing works which to me indicates that I am sending out on ports
6) copied ip address into my realvnc viewer and attempted to connect to laptop (as listed in step 2) yes I've done this before with other ip address and have completed 27 hops through 3 different continents and took back of the original computer, which gives you the infinity loop. So it’s not a realvnc issue.
7) Yes of course I rebooted and turned off firewall on laptop.....
8) To summarize I can initiate a realvnc session to a local time
warner and control that computer, I am however not able to initiate a
realvnc connection to a sprint session using outgoing time warner or
via pdanet to pdanet session using sprint...
8) Please READ ALOUD WHAT I HAVE DONE BEFORE YOU SEND A GENERIC EMAIL.
My question is does pdanet allow the routing of port numbers using
realvnc? Specifically port 5900 and 5800?
Is there a port that you would recommend for me to assign to have this work
I’m trying the java viewer but do not expect it to work either…
Answer so far from pdanet:
There is an automatic firewall on your phone and data service end. No incoming connections are allowed so no port forwarding support either.
My new question can I adb this portion and control it?

HTC P4351 and RDP

Hi All,
I hope I got this in the right place.
I just bought a new HTC P4351 with WM6(5.2.1622 build 18128.0.4.4) and installed Finster869 WM6_RDP. What I'm wanting to do is connect to my VPN SSL, which I can do fine, and use Remote Desktop to my PC at work to run apps I need to unlock accounts, reset passwords etc.
As I said connecting to my SSL seems to be fine but when I try to run Remote Desktop to connect to my PC I get the connecting... then Cannot Connect likely reasons. 1. Remote computer not setup. 2. Maximum number of connection. 3. Network error. Now I can use my home PC and it works fine. It acts as if my Mobile has the RDP ports blocked or something. Any ideas?
Sorry but I'm really new to the mobile setup. I'm not sure where to start to trouble shoot my issue.
Thanks
Try using VNC. it works wonderfully

Please help me setup Remote Desktop when using 3G network

Hi!
I was able to do Remote Desktop by connecting with my tilt 2 to my local Network so I used my Desktops address (192.168.1.4) as computer name and I was able to connect with the Tilt2.
Now, I am trying to figure out how to do the same but when I am not home thus connected to my network.
I tried using my REAL IP address but it was not able to connect to it.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate any my tilt 2 has a stock 6.5
Thanks
You'll need to set up port forwarding on your router. Looks like this site has a bunch of guides to do so. You need to set it up to forward port 3389 to your desktop address (looks like 192.168.1.4) and you should be good to go, no specific config necessary on your tp2.
Edit: As a side note for security's sake only allow non-administrator accounts to remotely connect and make sure you use strong passwords!
That worked out great...thanks mate!
Yeah thanks Toleraen! I was just now finally getting around to check out the remote desktop client on both my phones, and was looking for exactly that
Glad I could help
Pretty cool to do this indeed...any other software you consider better than this to remote in to my PC?

I hear VNC get recommended a lot, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet (I'll do that once I've tried remote desktop). I've attached the cab for it, but I can't find any threads on it's use, you'll have to dig that up yourself
I must have tried a million different settings over several hours and never was able to connect via 3G or even locally when hooked in through wifi. I used to be able to do this with my Treo 750 with little hassle. I have the port forwarding set up on my Linksys WCG200 router. I have even tried turning all firewalls and encryption off. No joy. Anyone else have a Windows XP setup with a Linksys router that has had success with a Tilt 2 stock ROM? Note: I do not have a static IP. Has anyone successfully done this with a dynamic IP?
I am doing it to Windows 7 with a dynamic IP...I just make sure I got the one for the day(week) before living home if I want to remote in from work.
I use Hamachi to create a VPN connection and then remote into my PC that way, leave hamachi running on my desktop and then just run the mobile version on my phone when I want to remote in, that way there are no open port security issues to worry about and the VPN IP address never changes.
Is it any slower or faster than Remote Desktop?

Sweet! I had no idea hamachi had a mobile client now!!
I'm trying it out as soon as I get home today!
I use "Remote Touch Server" to remotely access my computer. The main reason i use it is because it keeps your computer on while you are accessing it. I use it for a handheld monitor for powerpoint presentations. That way I can see what the computer is doing, and tap the screen to advance to the next slide

[Q] Vnc Server USB or WiFi

Hello,
i need to control all part of my desire when i'm at pc and is borig to take always the phone for reply to sms for example.
So i need to control it with my pc. I have installed Droid VNC but it's doesen't work.
I have rooted my phone of course and i have tried to connect with vnc viewer and with Firefox but i have always timeout connection problem.
So my question is how can i connect and control my desire in vnc mode??
Thanks!
Are you using your own WiFi access point or are you at a cafe or at the work place? Can you ping your phone from your computer?
If no: fix your WiFi setup or try via USB (see http://opensourceexcedio.wordpress.com/2010/10/28/droid-vnc-server/). If you are not at your own WiFi access point, the network might be setup in a way that the computers/phones on the network cannot talk to each other, but only to the Internet ("client separation").
If yes: did you try with some other servers like Webkey or Remote Web Desktop?
I have tried with adb port forwarding without success.
I have a wifi switch connected to hub. My isp limit me to three devices connected at same times so I have bought a wifi switch to avoid this limitation.
I can connect to administrator page of switch trough wifi devices but vnc doesen't work at all.
How can I do?

App for VNC server for CDMA Galaxy Nexus?

Does anyone know of a VNC app that - or any kind of "control my android phone from my PC" that:
1. is NOT Android Screencast
2. WORKS on the CDMA Galaxy Nexus
All the apps I've tried on the market thus far (e.g. droid vnc server) don't work - I think Verizon does something to prevent the IP address from being available to the app, so it reports the IP v6 MAC address and I can't connect to the phone.
Any solution (wired or wireless) would be fine, just one that works well (and is preferably free).
Hey, I'm in the same boat as you, i want to VNC onto my phone from my work PC as it makes my office life so much easier (did this on my iPhone for a couple of years)
I've managed to connect to my Galaxy Nexus GSM via LAN IP fine (IPV6 shows but used IPV4 IP instead from wireless settings) evem though i connected, the screen is blank and i can click but not type so looks like it needs some TLC on the developing side before it'll work :-(
Now for a remote IP you could try whatismyip.com or some simular site but i'm pretty sure most phon operators keep you on an internal network and route you out to the internegt, therefore meaning that you dont have any ports coming into your phone from the internet and therefore can't run any internet services, it has to be connection from your phone to a server not from PC/server on internet to your phone on internet.
I know however that back about 8 years ago i did get a windows mobile http server working, but think it's all changed since then..
Only exception to this would be if your phone was on wifi as you could setup a port forward from the router.
Maybe if TeamViewer made a version which allowed control of the phone, then you'd be able to do what you need.
Regards
Liam
Our VNC Server, VMLite VNC Server, works just find on Galaxy Nexus.
You can use USB connection, or reverse connection to connect if your phone's ip is blocked. i.e., you run tight vnc viwer in listening mode, you run the vnc server on the phone in reverse mode, so the vnc server will connect to the viewer.
Our app actually works w/o rooting.

The new teamviewer client will be your answer... just wait till its ported correctly to your rom
Are you sure? I thought team viewer is to view PC from android phones, instead of viewing phones from PC, i.e., different direction.

Pocket Cloud and Ubuntu

Has anyone got Pocket Cloud successfully connecting to an Ubuntu client? I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 with krfb installed, set up to allow uninvited connections, with a password set up. I've told my router to pass inbound connections on port 5900 to my PC (192.168.2.2). I set up Pocket Cloud to connect to my router's external IP on port 5900. Since Pocket Cloud seems to only allow me to choose to connect to a Windows or Mac client, I chose Mac and it wouldn't work so I chose Windows and that wouldn't work either.
It seems that I've set things up correctly but when I try to connect I get a pop-up notification in Kubuntu saying 'Refused uninvited connection attempt from xx.xx.xx.xx'. I assumed I'd set krfb up correctly but apparently not. Where am I going wrong?
