i had that same problem but solved it by uninstalling google maps then installing it from the market
I installed it without any problems. If you have issues installing the 4.4.0 update, first uninstall Google Maps and then install it from the Market application.

Installed just fine for me on my Desire using the update option from the market.

yeah same here no issues but in order for places to showup in programs u need to restart.
I noticed lattitude has also made an appearance on the menu too.
I think they need to update the Places app though. By clicking on "Gas Stations", i am given results for companies that sell bottled gas, not petrol or diesel. By clicking on ATMs, i am given a recovery company 20 miles from me, not cash machines.
I had no problems installing on Froyo/Sense MCR6.
Regards,
Dave
Why I don't see the Places app?
Where to get it?
I updated the Maps to 4. 4. 0...

Turn the phone off and on again then check the menu and "Places" will be listed in with the rest of your apps.

It's not a ROM issue, it's an app issue. Every major update FB does breaks all sorts of **** (so much for internal testing); I always read user comments first before updating their app and wait until they clear up the issues.

If you've got 1.5.2 backed up by Titanium Backup then go back to that and it works fine until Facebook fix it.

Having the same issues running CM 6.1. Every time I have updated, I always end up removing updates and going back to Version 1.4.1. It has been the least buggy version for me...
Lol, damn, i wish I would have read the reviews!
Exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks
Does facebook release a beta before sending out updates?

the Market actually has an option to remove the most recent update, so you can just run that

Can anyone please upload the 1.5.2 version? My TB already backed up the 1.5.3 and I only see "uninstall" on the market, no 'uninstall updates' option.
Swtiched to Seesmic
I also couldn't go back, and got tired (very quickly) so I am now trying Seesmic for facebook config only. It seems to work okay if you get tried of waiting.

Google "facebook 1.5.2 .apk" and find yourself a download link for the old version... Helped for me.

The latest update fixed the FC bugs.
Sent from a Western Union telegram.
I'm getting a "package file was not signed correctly" when I try to update to 1.5.4 from 1.5.2. Any ideas?
*edit* : fixed it, had to uninstall, reboot and reinstall. Weird.
update fixed the fc's for me, too.
Hello,
I have AdFree installed on my EVO 4G. When I run it get error message:
"Out of Date
This copy of AdFree is too old,
please update to a newer version."
I tried this:
1- wiped data with titanium, uninstalled, rebooted, installed from Market again, ... not working, same error
2- uninstalled, went recovery (ra 2.3), wiped cache & dalvik, installed from market, same error.
I found this issue in other forums but not for EVO 4G.
Update:
I sent an email to AdFree developers 5 min ago (06-27-11, 11:28am).
Update:
AddFree developers released an update solving problem today.
This is in the wrong section, but ad free still works for me.

This worked for me for right now. Install it from the market but don't open it. Go to your phone settings and set your date back one year to 2010. Go and open adfree and let it do its thing. After its done go back and set your current date and it will start blocking ads. Hit my thanks if this helps.

Yes, this worked to get latest host list, but if you open AdFree having date settings to automatic then you get the too old error, so it is something to fix by AdFree developers.
heare the same problem with this app.

It is obviously a problem with the app. I was just giving a temporary fix which was what I thought you wanted because you posted here. Maybe you should just contact the developer.

Just use this link below, even though its for the desire, it works great for our EVO's. I have always used these, just flash through your recovery.

Sigh. What I do is use titanium backup and uninstall "Market Updater". Done.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
or freeze the market updater with Titanium back up.
Hello Friends
I don't know if someone already posted this. But I did it myself so m posting here.
First of all to get back old market you need root access on your phone. After that an app that can control system apps like link2sd or SD maid etc. Using that app find an app named "market updater". Freeze that app. Then uninstall updates of Google Play Store (updates only). That's it , now start using old Google market
If you wants to get back to Google Play Store just unfreeze the market updater app n update the market.

I can tell you why I do it on my ROMs: speed!
The older Google Markets are objectively faster than the new. Time it and see for yourself.

Before rooting my wfs when ever I open the play store and look around for any app, for many of times it shows network error, I don't know why it was happening and it also take too much time to load an app info. I have read many times on xda that old market is working good then new one so that's why I did it
