Where is the select all options?
Suppose that I want to delete all my contacts or all my emails in one shot. How can I do it?
I can't find the select all option. Where is it?

It often happen that I need to delete all emails and I don't have an option for select all or delete all.
I can't even purge the trash folder.
I quote sbaltipodi, I'm not yet an owner of a Galaxy Nexus, but my poor 5800 with Symbian S60v5 have the "select all" function.
I'm also sure that Honeycomb has it in Gmail, why remove an important option like that in a next version of a OS ? bah...

Well happens also to me. But it's not a so urgent need i can leave with that and for now i delete selecting them as soon as i recive.
If i've mass email (more than 10) i wait to connect to a pc and delete all from them but i can manage up to 10 finger tap on checkboxes .

Haven't found a way to remove frequently called or contacted from the phone or people app. Kinda sux seeing my ex's info right there every single time. Temps me to text or call. And yes drunk texts apply here so it'd b nice to be able to remove these on demand lol
Anyone know how?

Press the menu button and then clear call log.
Not the call log. The frequently contacted. Its the last column in each app, phone app and people app. designated with a star icon at the top of the people app

Oh sorry. I misunderstood you. You could try clearing data in the contacts app. Not contact storage.
I haven't tried it so I can't confirm. That's my only educated guess.

Hold down on contacted and then hit the 3 dot thing and tap remove from log. To remove favorites you gotta log in and click on contact and then find the find the setting to remove starred contacts but it didnt update on phone. I dont know how to proceed with that part.

Clearing data in contacts storage works on mine, and it must on yours as well.
Only thing I can think of if that doesn't work, is if you store your contacts on phone or sim. But can't understand why you would do that.

How can this data be cleared? I have been trying to find a way to clear the frequently called list for weeks since ICS came out!!
Anyone thought about checking in their Gmail account online to see if Google has said contact(s) flagged as frequently contacted?

Sadly that clears even the call log. I want to clear the frequently called list or some specific numbers from that list but maintain my history.
I don't mind the frequently called list to be hidden since I can manually clear the history. Frequently called list however does not allow deleting some numbers.

This really is annoying.
you could just install exdialer from the market. you can delete individually calls from call history (incoming/outgoing/missed). and you get T9 dialing with it as well as a bunch of other useful stuff missing from the stock dialer.
doesn't consume much resources, very fast, and you can have it look almost exactly like stock dialer with its ICS theme.
If you want to have the same stock dialer icon you can use desktop visualizer (free) and link it to the stock dialer icon.
All I want to do is be able to pick what Facebook contacts I want to sync to my phone. I tried using the app and sns neither one giving me the option to pick the contact I want to sync. All I get is a list that's greyed out but says select all but I can't select anything. Someone please help with this small issue

Unfortunately I don't believe there is anyway to pick and choose.
You can set it to sync with existing contacts but that's about it.
Part of why google was talking about dropping support

1st of all, I'm on the ACS ICS
After the last time I had an issue, and had to do a nandroid restore, I realized none of my contacts are being sent/stored with he cloud. I lost all contacts I had entered into my phone since the last backup. What am I missing here?

You have to choose store contacts on Google each time you add one not phone. When you choose phone and wipe it, you wipe you contacts. Choose export contacts to Google (your gmail) now to have them there next time.

If you have a valid gmail account and are logged in (can you dl from the Market?) When you save a contact it should ask save on phone or save on google.

Is there any chance that it once prompted you to choose Google or Phone, and you selected Phone AND checked 'default'??
I selected Google and checked 'default' and it no longer prompts me- it just saves to to Google without asking.

Until you figure out how to clear your defaults and how to export them to your gmail. Go into settings>applications>manage applications>all and see if contacts, logsprovider, phone or dialeractivitytab have the option at the bottom to clear defaults. If you have not set any it will be greyed out.

Stop shouting man. Well then do as I suggested and export contacts to the sd card before you flash a new ROM. I would Odin back to stock EC05, create a contact and see if it asks where you want to store it. If the Google option is there then root, flash your ROM and redownload your apps or restore apps with Titanium but do not restore any system data.

Sorry just don't understand what you mean.

Hey,
Yeah that works for me already. If I type "a" in the address field it shows me all the "a" contacts stored in my gmail account. It doesn't offer contacts that I have recently mailed they have to exist already in contacts which are linked to my gmail address.
Hope that works for you.

Log into your gmail on a desktop computer and look at your contacts list. There you can add, delete contacts you want. All the phone will do is pull down the contacts that are added to your gmail contacts. Does that help you?

I know this is a general question but it applies to any Android device but since im on a s4 ill ask here.
Since the new Gmail update with the new Colorful interface look, which I find useless.... is there a way to multi select all emails in the in box ,to delete instead of long pressing one by one?

Clicking on the colored letter / picture will select the email (as if it were a checkbox).
You can also disable the new look by unchecking 'Sender image' in settings.

:thumbup:Nice, that partly resolves the lengthy one by one delete process, but I sorta meant like a multi select/select all at once, then after just uncheck each one you want to keep.
But I guess only way is to check each email one by one .
Thanks though

Ah, yeah the app doesn't have a 'select all' feature. I suppose the app is designed to cater to users who keep more e-mail than delete.
You can long press on one email then select many.... It will highlight all and you can then delete several at a time.
