Yahyoh, you are THE man ;-)
Can confirm this little app works perfectly on Galnet Miui 2.11.26/Siyah 2.1. The quality of sound doesn't seem to be affected adversely either. I will test this further tomorrow when I'm out & about (around 4.5 hrs listening to music/use).
Thankyou for solving this really frustrating problem on the SGS2
Edit - Yahyoh, did you write the app/fix ? If you did, you need to put that sucker on the Market or at least give people the chance to donate to you man. I know I'd either buy a paid version or sling you a few bucks for this ;-) On the other hand, if it's not your work you probably want to reference/give credit to whomever wrote it. Just sayin.

Nice one mate. Been looking for something like this and even considering buying an ipod..The funny thing is really loud at low volume
this fix + Volume + = burst ur ears

Excuse the language, but holy ****! I've tried everything; all the EQ tweaks, Volume+, and everything in between. I had just accepted it as fact that the Galaxy S II would never be a loud device. I tried VolumeBoost for the GSII, but it distorted the sound horribly at even small increases. But this, just.. wow! The sound boost is amazing. I have to ask, where did you find this man? It's amazing. As alphaola said, I was actually considering buying an iPod just for a music device, but with this? No chance
Sorry for the over-excitement, but this is amazing.
CyanogenMod 7.1 Stable.

I wonder if there is gonna be a fix for Samsung roms.

Working perfectly on Turkbey ROM V29.2 thanks.

[APP] AudioBoost for SGS2...

Hi everyone!
Is someone of you coming from the SGS1?? Do you remember AudioBoost 2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758326)?
Some of you already asked me something about this...
Well, I got myself an SGS2 yesterday, because my phone-contract was off...so I playing with it a bit today and I got some news: AudioBoost is coming for the SGS2!!
Now it's in early-beta stage...but if there are volunteers to try it out before it's finished let me know! I need devices with different roms and especially a rooted stock-one if possible to test compatibility...then it will be ready!
I'm on Lite'ning ROM v6.1 XXKH3 myself, so that's not needed, thanks!
EDIT:
Confirmed WORKING on:
- Stock (rooted) samsung firmware
- Lite'ning ROM
- Criskelo ROM
- MIUI ROM
- Sensation ROM
- Cognition ROM
- Batista70 ROM
...I think it's enough to assume it will work on any custom rom/rooted firmware with gingerbread 2.3.x! The app is now on the market...
Hey,
I'm very interested in this, i'm running Cognition 1.5.1 based on KH3, but have backups of Stock Roms i can test it on too if thats of any interest...
Hope i can help,
Dickie
would love to help
i can give it a run Dlevrom version 1.1 deox.

By the way, I'm in for beta testing if you don't mind[/edit]
Me interested very much. Mostly use my sgs2 for music and vids.
Also using beats solo.

Hmm...let me lol a little about that!
Yes, I tried volume+ but I must say I didn't notice too much of a difference...
With AudioBoost SGS2 (now perfectly working on my phone) the bump is an astounding 19% and it's GLOBAL...what this means is it works on speaker, headphones, everything without the need for separate controls...
What is more interesting is, given the speed of our new baby (SGS2), there is NO lag at all (of course it still needs the refresh function....)
Anyway, to ALL of you who answered, please do so at my email address: [email protected] with the email subject "[AudioBoostSGS2] <your rom/firmware version>", that way it's much better...I'll also send pms to those of you who answered now...
Hi, I'm running Batista70 with firmware KH3, I really like to test it out your app because of the overall low audio output of this device.
Good work and good luck.
If this work's on bmarkoi's MIUI that would really help a lot of users.
Running leomar with ninpo.

Oh yes i remember ur audioboost for galaxy s1..it was great..nice to see you here mate!
Iam using CrisKelo's Rom ..Which is also KH3..with speedmod kernel!
Last news for the day (night): initial testing seems very good, so I released it for now...
It seems to be very loud indeed =D only problem are distortions at higher settings (at least with crappy headphones, I think it could greatly benefit from equalizing though)...

[PATCH] ICS Call echo FIX + [potential] car dock audio fix (Update II - 04/30/12)

FOR AT&T LEAK BASED ROMS ONLY. NOT FOR CM9 or gingerbread!!!
Hi all,
No more call echo
This fix uses the proper T989 audio parameters so noise suppression actually works like it should (car dock should work too in theory). On top of that is Samsung Diamond Voice Engine which really makes calls sound great.
It fixes the issue at the core, within the audio libraries. The audio paramaters and noise cancelling routines now work as they should.
UPDATED
I think I finally fixed this f$cking issue once and for all. For real this time. Try out the newest update I have attached to this post (Diamonds.zip)
This patch is a breed of libraries from the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Blaze. It took me a very long time to put it together. But with a lot of work and hex digging I found the perfect combination.
I don't even think T-Mobile's ROM is going to sound this good
You might still have to turn down your volume a notch if you have a troublesome case, but I am going to make a bold statement and say that this should fix the problem for a 90% portion of you
Also--by its nature--this newest patch should fix the car dock audio problems. I can't test it to confirm. Please let me know if it does.
Report back with results!
Devs you are free to use. Credit is all I ask I spent lots of time on this and not enough time working on a project due tomorrow >_<
To the kind folks that donated to me in the past few days. thank you and I will thank you personally and address my PMs too. Been on and off the grid because of finals.
Cheers
Yaldak

I know people keep saying he fixed it, but if he did. I would expect he would have released it. Unless he is doing the community a disservice and trying to squander the fix for him self only for glory or what ever other reasoning.
Also to the OP. What do the display firmware in /etc have to do with the audio echo? and i understand you're trying to fix the compass so is that why the sensors lib is in there?
Based on his new ROM being a beta I think TDJ is testing a fix same as Yaldak.
Hopefully they both work.

The approach used in the Darkside ROM is different. I did a library comparison to verify it.
While the approach should work because it appears to reverse the noise redcution switch (hence why the TDJ says to keep it on), this approach fixes the problem at its core--audio library side. Noise reduction will work exactly as it did in Gingerbread. Some people in that thread are still reporting the call echo issue because the audio paramters are off in all of the Skyrocket-based roms.
A LOT of work and experimenting was done to narrow it down to this one stupid file.

There is no display firmware. That's sensor firmware. This is preliminary work toward fixing the compass, as such it is a work in progress. It's not a beautified patch just yet

I had echo before and using NexusMod.
Made calls to a POTS, VOIP, and another cell phone.
These people had complained about the echo before and report these calls sounded fine.
Thanks and great work.
Hey Yaldak,
I'll test this out on RomChicago tonight, which is based on your base.
As far as the compass goes, I didn't even realize there was an issue with it until now. I'll check the parts bin to see what works.
This is why I use your bases, because you da man.

Darkside's ROM has another approach to this issue....so that is probably why.
It is also likely that--since you had the issue with gingerbread--your phone might be defective. My GB audio was crystal clear.
I'm up to 8 phone calls (2 incoming 6 out) in which the recipients reported no issue.
Is it difficult to apply this? Just asking cuz I never applied a patch. Switching roms, navigating thru root explorer, etc no problem.. but I don't want anyone wasting time explaining it if its something you believe is too complicated to do so. I'd just love to have call echo fixed so people stop telling me about something I already know. Never had call echo on GB. (I have tried the search but with how many posts there are with 'how to' and 'patch' in them its quite difficult and easier to ask)

Thanks for the tip but I would like to stick to the stock ROM, I'm WAY too lazy these days to play the ROM update game - that's why I bought a Nexus... so I'd have pure Google without having to mess with ROMs.
I will have a look at the mods/etc though, cheers.
I should point out that Volume+ apparently works for most things, but not notifications/phone rings which is mainly what I used it for.
It's almost the same with previous ICS, that's my opinion. Not sure about other though.

[App][Alpha][10/01] Flip For Speaker/Silence Call (Inpsired by Sense)

Released to market!
Remember all those nifty little tricks in Sense which you sometimes miss on cm7 and cm9? I thought about getting those features into an app which can be used with all ROMS. The main one I'm thinking of is the flip for speaker but there are also other ones like the loud ring in pocket and so on. It was really something that I wanted in an app. The closest one I found was Sanity which switched on the speaker as soon as the user takes the phone off his ear, which can lead to troubles such as in a classroom/meeting.
So far, I have a working version of the Flip For Speaker with an option to disable it of course. I'll will try to port the other features. I would like to get your opinion of small features that improve the usability like this one and I can try including them as well. They can be from other ROMS of other phones like say something from TouchWiz or MotoBlur. Post them here and I'll see what I can do.
Meanwhile, here is an alpha version of the app if you would like to test it out. If you run into errors, let me know. Try getting a logcat if you can. I'm open to suggestions.
Current Features:
Flip to Silence
Flip for Speaker
Pick up to answer (Meaning hold it up to your ear)
Changelog:
Version 1.0
Initial market release!
Get it from: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ajaykumar.sense
Version 0.6
Fixed the mute bug on pick up to answer
Version 0.5.1
Holo theme for ICS onwards
Version 0.5
Options for speaker volume and headset volume
Version 0.4
Pick up to answer
Version 0.3
+Should support other devices (Earlier had some issues with the sensor readings)
^Improved the usage of proximity sensor
Version 0.2
+Added option for flip to silence call
Version 0.1.1a
^Fixed bugs
Version 0.1a
+Flip to silence call
^Improved flip mechanism by including pitch and roll.
Version 0
+Flip for speaker
I would also like a nice name for the app so suggestions are welcome!(Don't want to use the word sense in case of any copyright issues later on when hopefully, I can release the app into the Market).
If anyone is willing to test on other devices, please let me know.
Source code: https://github.com/ajaykumarkannan/Sense-and-Sanity
You can report issues and see the existing issues here: https://github.com/ajaykumarkannan/Sense-and-Sanity/issues?state=open
You can also make feature requests there.
Heres a good app to control flip to speaker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matthew.rice
Only thing is, its a paid app, but works very well for me.
Nice find!
I think I'll continue developing this app so that it can suit my purposes better and it's fun developing
I'm also thinking of adding flip to silence feature. Anything else you would like to see, let me know.

Had a bug in the earlier version I posted. I thought that only pitch would be enough so the speaker kept turning on at incorrect moments. I've fixed that I'll post an update tonight.
As for the sense clock, sorry. I'm not that good at theming nor do I have enough patience for something like that! Henry would be a better person to ask. You can also check out UCCW clock widget which has sense clock like themes.
For internet passthrough, you can checkout this thing called "Reverse Tethering". I haven't used it personally but it should work.
Fixed the issue with the roll and also added flip for silence working. Updated apk in the OP. I've tested it very briefly cause I'm about to head off to sleep. Let me know if you find some issues.
Updated with a few bug fixes and hopefully should now support other devices because I've changed the API now. Check the changelog.
Added Pick up to Answer. Updated OP.
'senseable speaker control'
or
'non-sense speaker control'
Just a couple of things that popped in my head

Hey AceRoom, great work on the sense app hey. Features I know I definitely miss on CM7 and CM9 roms are the jus the three you mentioned earlier on - quiet ring on pickup - flip for speaker and pocket mode. The rest are not so important but if you could get those working on any cm7 or CM9 rom - that would totally rock!
Looking forward to more of your work

Actually, no. It picks up fine but the caller can't hear me. So I've just turned it off till you you fix it.
For some reason, it mutes the phone when it does that. So I tried explicity unmuting the phone and it still doesn't work. You can unmute it manually but it kind of defeats the purpose anyhow!
It's actually a hack I found somewhere since Android stopped supporting the call answer API after 2.3 (But had it in 2.2 and earlier).
The next thing I'm planning on adding is a speaker volume and normal volume (Because I find that I have to increase the volume when I flip for speaker usually).
I've tested it on the WFS only on CM9. What ROMs are the rest of you guys using?

Well i guess its working. 106 downloads and not one ty clicked or one response yes its working. Pretty sad. I knew there was alot of selfish people on the web but this is pathetic. One hudred and six downloads. No respect, no appreciation. .im fighting myself really hard not ro remove the links. Really hard. Change my mind people please.
So sorry for not getting back. I used all day today and it was awesome. I made calls on speaker and watched YouTube and everything was perfect. Really great mod and I will apologize for all the edge users. Can't believe no one said thank you. Pretty sad actually

My remark wasn't targeted towards you stu your a great person. It was for the other 105 people who are using this, who wouldn't even have it if it wasn't for you requesting it and supplying the stock files so i could mod them. Selfishness is part of human nature, but the level of it in this thread is enough to feed all of population in NY. I'll stop my whining now, you get the point. .lol ?
This mod had nothing to with me and everything to do with you. Your skills are crazy and you are the man for coming up with it... THANK YOU!

Right but i would not have done it if it wasn't for you. I dont have this device, therefore can't test the mod, or do i need to have it. I dont like putting things out there that i have not tested. I do this for my own devices and share it, then if anyone requests it i do it for them also. Everyone in between is just lucky. I could have easily pmed it to you and called it a day. So yea it has a lot to do with you and they should click the ty button in every one of your posts just as much as mine buddy?..Have a great week stu...

I just downloaded for my TMob S6 Edge model and about to give this a whirl. I'm a strong Viper advocate and wasn't sure if your mod will happily coexist. Will Nandroid first then get back. Much appreciate your contribution.
EDIT: Killer sound MOD. Works fine with Viper. My thanks again.....
I use it with viper also and it works great but i use the medium sound or even the stock sound if yiu use viper. The loud is a bit too much and it may cut out for some...glad u like it
Well I tried flashing in twrp, no go, the phone reboots into twrp before it flashes anything. Suggestions?
Thank you. This works great!

Not sure what that is. Its working for others so cant be the zip. Try downloading the zip again and make sure you have the newest twrp..
Well i tried it again, could it be because I'm not on a stock rom?

What values were changed in the mixer_paths.xml compared to stock? And what base is the file sourced from? Latest DOI1?

Turns out I'm an idiot. Was a bit loaded on vicodin yesterday and failed to realize that this is the S6 Edge forum, not the S6 Edge+ forum.
Well, it works in that it enables the handset speaker, but in doing so it seems to disable the main (bottom) speaker. So I only have sound coming from the handset speaker. Unfortunately, reverting to stock doesn't seem to have fixed the main speaker problem...so no I have no sound lol. I'll see if I can pull the xml file out of another ROM or something.
Seems like a bad ass idea though.
Edit: Actually, this only seems to be the case with the youtube app. Everything else is working fine as far as I can tell. I'll mess with the app and see if I can figure anything out.
Edit 2: It's not the youtube app, I think maybe it's a certain protocol or something. System sounds and recorded video works fine, for example, but anything I've played from youtube only comes out of the earpiece. On Facebook, some videos play sound through both speakers, some only from the earpiece.
