Well,
i'm just posting this for my friend(abby_nitewolf) since she can't post it from her account because of some limitations of something. i dont know...
Continuum-Community,
I'm not sure if this was posted or if you already had this, but i made an odin file for our 2.2 Froyo update.
http://www.mediafire.com/?9nxa2ui9c327y7m
Yes it has been tested and i have flashed it on 4 Samsung-Continuum and it worked perfectly.
Any questions of concerns just post here or you can pm me.
Thank you Trailblazer and Imnuts for helping with this and thanks again Imnuts for giving us FROYO.
Notes:
People had been asking me questions about this file, like what is it? who are you? whats 7z? odin?
Well this is the reason for adding this extra section.
What's .7z? I thought it was suppose to be a .tar image.....?
Well young one, .7z its a 7zip extension that i used to compress the original file so it can be easily uploaded and downloaded. Just download 7zip and use it to extract the original file.
What's Odin?
Well, ok, not trying to be mean, but if you dont know how to use odin, then you really shouldnt be messing with this file, do some research and then come back to this thread, because you will be using Odin to flash this file onto your phone. Hint:Use the power of google!
Since i'm flashing this onto my phone do i put the file under PHONE?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It goes under PDA!!!
I'm confused, who uploaded this, torque240 or abby_nitewolf?
Hmm...does it really matter? well if its really bugging you then abby_nitewolf is the one who provided us with this odin image, and of course IMNUTS gave us the gift of 2.2 FROYO.
abby_nitewolf
Imnutes beat you to it lol

Thanks for linking this. It's nice to have the bone-stock Odin image for those who want to use it as a base for building their own rom.
Link has been updated so i wont get my dropbox privileges suspended again
Found out you have to reflash cwm recovery odin image again. no biggie just takes a minute. unless it really bugs you
Other than that its been working, now tested on 7 phones, no problems so far.
I would love your feedback on this please.
Thanks You

odin says what?
Do we have to flash the modem ( per imnuts's instructions ), or just this ODIN file?
Modem file is in this odin image. So yes just this

Thanks Abby.
Ok, so I just re- flash the cwm mod, then your file, then restart.
Do I need to do anything fdom within cwm? Should I do a wipe/factory restore after flashing the mod?
Thats what I did when I flashed imnuts' mod

1. Flash this odin image
2. reboot
3. turn off then reflash cwm
And after you reflash this odin image, when you reboot it actually formats everything, data. dbdata. cache...etc...
Sweet, I'll get this done this evening.
Dear Abby---
(sorry, I had to.. )
I flashed the rom, IT'S PERFECT.
Many thanks.
I had a bug with the other rom, every time I opened a website, the screen would blink off, and it was driving me bonkers.
This seems to have fixed it.
Everything is working great.
Again, thanks a bunch.
Is the included ROM rooted or deodexed?
Sent from my Continuum on stock Froyo 2.2.2.
all stock/rooted
And yes, its deodexed xP

I have been seeing that many people seem to prefer to flash their kernels using CWM instead of ODIN. I prefer using CWM over ODIN whenever possible so here is a solution for you.
This is just a simple .zip that you can use to flash your kernel via CWM.
Myself or the maker of the kernel you're choosing to flash are NOT responsible for anything that may happen to your phone a s a result of user error or anything else.
Instructions:
1) Extract the zImage from the ODIN tar (I use 7zip)
2) Download and open this .zip using 7zip
3) Simply drag and drop the zImage extracted from the .tar or in the root of this .zip.
4) Boot into CWM and flash.
5) Be sure to thank the person that created the kernel you are using.
Note: This will delete the cache so the first boot up will take a minute or so.
PLEASE make sure there isn't a reason the kernel creator wants the kernel flashed via ODIN before doing this. I don't know if there really is one but just in case.
Update: Zip updated per Calkulin's advice
Enjoy....
No offense but I believe people are interested in using zips without using a computer period.
I know I would. I have no problem using odin but would love to simply use recovery.

Speak for yourself and not others. Also, a little research and effort on your part would show you that you should be able to accomplish the same thing on your phone to get the zImage into the zip for flashing in CWM.
Thanks Rob.

On that note some of us like to experiment with different kernels on the go so having a library of .zip kernels saved to my sd card is brutally useful instead of having to wait to get home to switch the kernels

Guys,
I'm not sure if I really understood it... I found a boot.img from a rom that is not from the rom I'm currently using...
Just double checking, to flash it, all I have to do is put the "boot.img" file inside the "Generic Kernel ZIP for CWM.zip" and flash it through CWM?
Is this only for Epic 4G or it will work on SGW as well?
I'm sorry if this is something obvious, it's just that it sounded too simple, easy and good to be true...

Every kernel ive seen has a .zip and a .tar.. but i guess if you want to do it this way its fine lol.. if on ics its more steps and youd still need to odin to el26 cwm to be safe anyways.

I don't get it... if you are going through the trouble of pulling zImages why wouldn't you just Mobile Odin or HC-kTool it?
Just sayin.. live and let, I suppose.
And if I'm not mistaking, boot.img is for AOSP kernels and zImage is for stock-based. Correct if necessary.
Okay so I Am trying to teach myself how to do some of this stuff. I really like to play with computers and I have always been really good with them but I have always been self-taught. Anyway I am trying to pull the stock recovery image for the 2.3.6 update we got. So what I did was I went to the thread where it was posted here and took the file (SGH-T989_TMB_1_T989UVKL1_CL799405_REV00) and unzipped it in WinRAR then I extracted a file called recovery.img
So is that it? Is that how to get the stock recovery? If I flash that through Odin then CWM will be gone? If I wanted to make it flashable through CWM can it be done and how would I do that? If that is not the right way to do it then what is the proper way?
I appreciate any help anyone can give me it is not a big deal but I just want to learn how to do things for myself so I don’t have to rely on others. So if anyone wants to share and teach I would really appreciate it.

Not sure you can flash a recovery.img via CWM, MAYBE, but I am going to go out on a limb and say, not, because if you are in CWM, the recovery partition is mounted and in use, so it will not let you overwrite it ....
yeah I kinda was thinking that too but I wasnt sure thanks for the info
For starting out you can look for a rom kitchen (forgot name sorry) update your phine to latest ota then do a nandroid backup from cwm and then load those files to kitchen and create it like that.
hit the THANKS for me.

Well I never came across one, but I'll unzip the tar file and see what I can do. But. Flashing anything that doesn't have root cooked in will unroot you.

I've never seen one, but doesn't mean it can't be done. Normally of one wants to flash back to stock it's cause something went wonky or they want to start over, so i don't think it's come up. But obtaining root again is cake, so maybe just do the Odin procedure and move forward due to the time needed to make a disable zip for stock...just my thoughts

Oh and OP listen to the great words of a wise man odin is not scary JUST DONT FLASH A PIT FILE ..please i beg you
Hi guys, I need help with my bricked AT&T Note 2. I am asking this questions after I searched whatever I could.
I messed up and formatted internal and external storage and I am left with nothing on my Note 2. So, I thought I'd flash the stock ROM via ODIN and tried to create a .tar file out of a zip. I used 7Zip and created a .tar file. But, I couldn't flash this .tar file through ODIN. The ODIN force closes everytime I hit 'Start'. I suspect that it's due to the incorrect .tar file. Am I following the right procedure to create the .tar file? If not, can you please help me figure out how to create .tar file.
Should I be flashing the PIT file too?
Any help is very appreciated. Thank you!
Search for "I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT.zip" I don't think I can post a url. It's under a search on google. Also.Sammobile has it. Inside that file is a stock tar file. I used it to go back to stock and from there moved on to CleanRom.
there are also links to stock firmware files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987541, in the first post, Section 5.
Thanks a lot guys for your response! I was able to flash through ODIN and get my note 2 to work again. Again, thank you both a lot for the response!
