Factory Hard Reset with non-rooted GNEX - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
When i get my new phones, i like to start off with a factory reset before setting it up. call me weird or what-ever but that is what i like to do.
I've tried searching, but i get factory reset instructions from a rooted phone.
is the factory reset the same as the NS?
I don't know if it is any different in ICS........
can some one give me a quick break down???
i know i know i know..... ***flame suite on****

settings > backup & reset > factory data reset

thanks for the reply!
what about factory reset from the boot screen?

You can hold down both the volume up and down keys and the power button to boot into the bootloader.
Cycle to recovery using the volume rocker and use the power button to select.
I believe you can then wipe data from recovery but I haven't tried it on the GN.
Maybe someone else can confirm.

That's a good one! I always wonder whether the members of HTC development team are aliens..
Second that! I never (not yet?) succeeded to make a hard reset. You guess that till now I haven't made a hard reset after flashing a ROM, just backup with Sprite. Conclude that it is not necessary.
HTH.
the answer is yes or no

Are you sure or just think so?
With the Kaiser you needed to do an extra hartreset after a flash, but with most other you don't need to do that.
Because flashing a ROM normally flashes everything (except for your internal storage) so no need to do an extra hard reset.
I don't know what's the case with the Diamond...
i just want to know do u need to flush after every upgrade or no
i just want to know do u need to flush after every upgrade or no????
Remember that after you flash a rom, system performs a SOFT Reset and NOT a Hard Reset. So always its better to do a hard reset after every flash, to fully clear the memory from those hidden or system files from the previous installation.

[Q] Can i do a factory reset with a dead screen?

My wifes wildfire s has a dead screen. its now out of warranty and it will be sold on ebay. Problem is i would like to factory reset it and dont know the key sequence for this particular phone. I have checked out other posts but there is no guarantee that they have the same sequence as the wildfire. I hope someone can help me with this.

Do you have ClockworkMod installed or is it the Default Recovery?
If its clockwork, then read on...
1. Power+Volume Down
2. Wait about a minute for HBOOT to do its thing.
3. Key DOWN. Press POWER
4. Wait a few secs
5. Volume Down x2 then POWER
6. Then Volume Down x7 then finally Power.
That is a factory Reset.

You can also perform a factory reset straight from hboot, just boot your phone to bootloader ( pull out battery, insert it back in, hold vol down and press power button ). Now when you are ( hopefully ) in bootloader, all you have to do is wait 30 sec ( it will check sdcard for possible files to flash ), and then press volume down 3 times, then just hit power button. It should reboot once to standard recovery ( to perform a wipe ) and once again to system, you should be able to hear startup sound if everything went OK.
Thanks, I gave it a go. No way to be sure really so I'll just cross my fingers!
