I just got ADW launcher and I need a calendar widget to replace the stock one.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I'd like one similar to the stock month calendar widget. One that shows the whole month, some kind of bullet or marker on days that have an event, and some kind of text box showing the event for the day you touch.
Thanks.

I second that question/request. I wonder if theres a way to use the stock one with other launchers, it seems to be the only stock widget thats missing if i remember correctly.

Actually there's a couple more I need to find replacements for too.
The task manager widget that displays the number of active apps and takes you to the task manager if pressed.
And the double clock widget that will let you display two different clocks, with time zone and location of your choosing displayed.
Try jorte on the market? I love it!!

Thanks! I'm trying it out right now. There's still a few things from the stock one I miss though. It doesn't have a widget with a text box on the bottom that can show the whole event. Instead it shows small text in the day box that gets cut off, and you have to click on that day to see the whole event title. The tasks seem to be a little limited too. Like you can't add a location that you can navigate to later. I'm gonna keep playing with it though. Thanks.
i use the Go Launcher EX Calendar widget, it's simply the best available out there

yeah I saw Go launcher yesterday during my search and told myself I gotta try that one. Looks like a lot of good stuff on that one. I especially like that task manager widget that they have.
Thanks for the recommendation AllGamer! I'm using Go Launcher now and loving it.
lilant510, if you're still missing stuff from the stock, I suggest you try that one. Has everything I was missing from stock and more. Better than ADW IMO.
AllGamer,
Do you use the Go launcher toggle widget? Does it work ok for you?
When I press the GPS toggle, it goes to the GPS settings menu, instead of just automatically toggling it off/on.
The 4g toggle sometimes does and sometimes doesn't work also. Seems to depend on if the wifi is toggled on with it or not.
Wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.
i do not use the Go Toggle
because the ROM already has all the on/off switches i need build in

they also have a Transparent skin for the Go Calendar Widget, it makes it really elegant
I've used literally ever launcher available to date and imho Go launcher is the absolute best! And all the Widgets that come along with it put it over the top. There are so many skins fir the Widgets and I use the calander widget which is my favorite.

Anyone have any suggestions for replacement apps for Calendar that is grid like the HTC Sense one color scheme and all that is FREE >.< as well as an app that gives power control like widgets. I tried Widgetsoid but the data and GPS are buggy and don't work correctly with Virtuous Unity apparently. Any fixes or suggestions would be helpful.
I plan to use it with GO Launcher and Fancy Widgets.
And yes I have used the search button.
Switch Pro and Pure Grid Calendar. I don't think they are free, though. Why do they have to be free?

Take a look at colorize widgets. It gives you all the same widgets as lpp and do scrolling if your launcher supports it. If you are using go launcher ex take a look at their list of widget add ons. They're pretty powerful too.
As far as a power widget goes I use extended controls. I've been pretty happy with it. Easy to setup and works. Only problem is the gps button won't work if you add it. I think it's something something specific to the inc2. First time I've had trouble with it.
Yada yada tapped
I just found these widgets

I think Switch Pro is better than extended controls plus the GPS button works.
Anybody else GTasks widget not working? As in the widget turns white (aka blank) and doesn't repond to any touch or open until you go to the actual app and start that up. I just want to know what's going on as I like this app lol. I know some other people had this problem too, just trying to see what's going on here. Thank you!
I use the GTasks scrollable widget. Haven't had an issue yet. Which widget are you using? There are like 4-5 for GTasks.

Yes, that happens for me too when I change rotation. This is what I've done to overcome it.
I've been using the scrolling widget for several weeks. Turned white yesterday for the first time. I use GO Launcher, and use GO backup daily. I just hit restore and all is well.
Not sure what caused the white, I can go portrait to landscape and back either way and have no issues. Love the Gtasks widget, especially having your calendar agenda at the top of the "All" list.
I did google a little bit but most things are about calendar notifications, I'm lookin more for an actual calendar I can put in my notifications bar.
I just switched from iPhone so I'm actually lookin for something like this. modmyi.com/images/joshua/calendarfornc.jpg
I think you'd be better off finding a calendar widget to your liking. I'm not aware of any notification panels that have widgets embedded in them.

I agree with Spycedtx. Use a widget instead. If you want to reach the calendar widget from any screen you could add it to a SwipePad panel that has a widget launcher. It works very well for me with a quick settings widget and a note widget.
Thanks guys
Cool the swipe pad will work and has more uses too. Maybe it's cause I was an iphone guy but I'm not a fan of widgets yet. Maybe in time

The I phone has you stuck in the past with old out dated features lol, your not used to making things easy and the way you want like an android.
I just don't like a lot of garbage on my home screen, looks too cluttered... but as I said maybe in time. Any how noob question, how do I mark my post solved?

I also like empty screens. But the bonus is you have several. My main has an analog clock just to look pretty. One page over I have a calendar widget. Quick swipe and back if I need to see it.

Using the app called Popup Widget, I'm able to quickly place any kinds of widget directly on the second screen, since we can easily move back and forth app shortcuts from the second screen and home screen, but that mainly applies to the stock launcher only, tried with Nova, but didn't work. Anyways, here's a video showing an example of creating widget and placing it into second screen and works fine.
https://youtu.be/mX-diQEANw8
The app is called Popup Widget, and can be found on the Play Store.
Credits @klark1kent for the idea of implementing custom widgets on the second screen using Zooper and Tasker apps. If you want, you can head over to his thread in the link below for an in-depth guide using Zooper Widgets
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/themes-apps/screen-custom-app-icons-widget-t3269726
Update: So, I've created a new video that actually allows you to add more icons/shortcuts to the second screen. So take a look over at the link below.
https://youtu.be/nuo0IAhwUR0
The app is called SiMi Folder Widget, and can be found on the Play Store.

Usually what I'd do since you can easily toggle between different launchers via settings, just switch to the stock launcher, place it in then change back.

The idea was actually from your thread, so got to thank you for that idea that you actually came up, and I was looking around for other alternatives instead of using Zooper and Tasker, and Popup Widget sort of solves the issue for me. And also having to place any kind of widgets on your second screen really helps in situations where you wouldn't want to get kicked out of other apps, let's say if you are messaging and you want to quickly see some new tweets to freshen up.

That's exactly what I said in thr original thread. I used popup widget also but hey I'm happy you liked the idea and clearly I didn't create a guide initially because I wanted to get it out to the community as soon as possible anyway I agree the options are endless... The only thing about just using popup which I alluded to in the other post is that it wasn't working with other launchers and zooper allows you to create your own widgets and add them to popup instead of relying on system default widgets. Let's keep the innovations coming though but yeah I was surprised you essentially jacked the idea with zero credit. Thanks for making it right

Oh damn, I guess I didn't read it clearly! Really sorry about that... I guess I did miss the part about Popup Widget and was sort of lost in the guide of yours so I was looking around for alternatives. My bad if I really missed out on my part but I hope you enjoyed the mini guide that I created, and shall give proper credits for you
Best app for v10 so far
Bumping for suggestions
Is Popup Widget the same as Popup Widget 2? Because I couldn't find any Popup Widget without a 2 next to it.

Is there a way to make popup widgets using the stock apps like favorite contacts and LG Health?
I haven't tried, but would think you could make a widget from Zooper, then use Popup widgets utilizing your custom zooper widget

As those are LG-based Widgets, which is lockdown only to stock launcher, Popup Widget can't recognize it as a proper widget, only universal ones work.
Hence sadly it's not possible to actually get those into the second screen.
It's kind of worthless since it will ONLY use the Google Calendar, and I use another app for calendar displays.
It takes up real estate.
But you can't turn it off? Is that really correct?
If you're using the stock launcher then no, not that I've found. You could always try using a different launcher, I'd recommend Nova.
Yeah, I was trying to give google's a fair chance, but getting irritated with the large gaps between icons as well. Thanks.
Nope, you can't turn it off or remove it but you can turn off the 2 functions is has - Calendar events and Traffic information. Just long press on it and a little pop-up comes up labeled Preferences. Tap that.
This should solve your issues. Install it on top of your stock Pixel Launcher. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-rootless-pixel-2-launcher-google-t3688393

It only shows them close to the event time. I'm not sure if it honors the notification period on the event (which I think is like 10 minutes?) or if it has a hard coded value, I just moved the appointment right up close, in a bit later it appeared. Completely anti-climatic, I much prefer seeing what's queued up, e.g. Smooth Calendar widget is one I've been using for ages, nothing special but at least it makes sense.
mine still doesn't show events happening in the next 2 min. I think I'm going back to nova launcher. btw I use Event Flow Widget. It's hands down my favorite and having that on my homescreen is the #1 reason I couldn't get an iphone. i have to have that widget on the homescreen.
