Anyone that has root, have you checked to see if the bootloader is unlocked?
**WARNING, I HAVE NO CLUE IF TRYING TO INSTALL CWM WILL BRICK THE PHONE, THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED!**
If its anything like the Optimus 2x then you just install Clockwork Recovery and hold the power and volume down buttons from a cold boot until you are in recovery mode (can take up to 10 seconds). If you get into recovery then its unlocked. If CWM does not install correctly or the button combo on power up does not work then we will know its either locked or we will need a special version of CWM to flash ROMs on this phone.
Holding power and volume down during a cold boot without CWM wont do anything and is not indicative of a locked bootloader. Also, holding power, volume down, and home is the software reset mode not recovery.
Determining if the bootloader is unlocked is the first step to getting some Devs in to develop ROMs for the Nitro. I do not currently own this phone but am very interested in getting one when my upgrade option opens up on the 15th.
I'm rooted, how would I go about installing cwm. Do it from rom manager? Or is there another way to do it, I've rooted and flashes roms on many devices but never before without specific instructions.
Give me a heads up and I'll give it a try.
Thanks

I have always done it through the market via Rom Manager
I just tried using the one click method for the thrill 4g with no luck. I'll give rom manager a try and see what happens.
I'll report back with a fail or success.

Since there are no lg devices listed in rom manager I decided not to flash it.
Guess we will have to wait for a dev to come along or someone much smarter than myself.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
We will probably have to wait until a custom CWM is developed for the phone.
You guys are gonna have to wait.. and hope we've get the phone I'm sorry to ask but is it out for sale on att yet?

Lol! don't do a hit and run buddy. come on n spit it out, can we get an unlock bootloader or not? I suggest to u to advice LG to unlock the bootloader if they want people to switch over to their phones. Here is a little reminder, not a lot of Devs will support this phone, unless this phone is unlocked, which will allow more ROMs to be created for it, as well as modifications. I'm just on the fence rite now about switching to it or not, all depending on how sure i am about the Dev supports.

You want proof of this statement, just go to the Galaxy Nexus forums here at xda developers, and see the difference in the number of posts made daily. I understand that some of the activity is due to ICS, but this phone will have it soon enough.
Yeah, if I find out this phone has an unlocked bootloader pretty quick, I will make the jump to it and we can look for some quality devs on older devices and get a collection going to get them a Nitro. One or two quality devs can make a world of difference.
I agree with the above statement. Someone out there knows this answer.
Wait wait wait......so this phone has an unlocked bootloader or it needs to be unlocked? I think i missed something here where the answer might have been lol.
Yeah, hopefully so. If we can just get some devs to support this phone, I think it has a huge potential.
Another question, I'm not rly familiar with the following below
LG Nitro HD: Snapdragon APQ8060 (Single-channel 333 MHz ISM)
LG Thrill: TI OMAP4430 (Dual-channel LPDDR2)
Are these the Ram used on the phone? If so, why would phones still be using single channel ram these days? And how bout Tegra 2? Is it Dual channel or single Channel?

So, I was reading up a bit on the guide to porting Clockwork Recovery, and decided to build it yesterday. Everything was fairly easy to do, but I forget this is Motorola we're talking about, and realized the hard way that our phone has a locked bootloader and won't work with a custom recovery.
I saw there's a workaround used on the Droid X, Droid 2, and Defy that isn't really a true recovery, but close enough for our purposes. Unfortunately, I'm far from an actual dev, and there's no handy guide for me to follow to port something like that over to our device, so I thought I'd throw this post out there to see if anyone else was capable of it, or at least able to point me in the right direction.
For reference, here's the thread about the Defy recovery. I'll likely pull the sources down and muck about a bit with it, but if anyone has any tips on how to do this, or better yet wants to do it themselves, please do. If you don't have a flipside, I can gladly provide any info or files from the phone, and I've already had to restore from .sbf a handful of times so it's not like I'm afraid of testing it.

No unfortunately it doesn't. Screenshots i'm working on (it saves them all in PNG which the site won't recognize).
An overclock kernel is being worked on, the base of this is the standard kernel. We do have one working but it's not ready for release yet.

By custom recovery, do you mean the one in the stickied post or CWM?
Biggest thing is the speed of the default device, I'll keep an eye here and get serious when the OC kernel is ready.... I think I'll need a pretty compelling argument to get him to root. Thank you for all your hard work in this area.

Just curious since I didn't see any screenshots (he hasn't given me the nod yet, either) What kind of overclocks have you gotten and how is your battery life?
EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw it on the blog (read past it at first). 850 MHz? That's almost a 50% OC! The battery life at that speed question still remains. Also, don't see the FAQ link, or is it not up yet? Thanks a bundle. I've gotten fairly proficient with things on my Inspire, but the Optimus looks to be a slightly different monster.

I'm kinda scared of jellyfish. How are you supposed to avoid them when you can't even see them??
What sort of ROM would people like to see for the A100?!? Any particular wishes?
Personally I'd like to see a ROM that gives you slightly better battery life and the ability to under and overclock. (Tegra2 is pretty good for overclocking, no?)
That way you could set it for 1200mhz or higher for when you really need some speed, and underclock it to 600 or 800 mhz for a nice long plane trip. You should still be able to watch a couple of movies, but you'll get two hours more batterylife or thereabouts.
What I'd REALLY REALLY like to see in a future ROM, is a port of either HTCs tablet ROM or the Touchwiz ROM from the Galaxy 10.1.
Nothing beats Samsungs Touchwiz for smoothness from what I've seen, and since they use the same Tegra SoC it shouldn't be too hard to port, eh?
The HTC ROM would be pretty cool to have as an option, especially if it would be able to use the HTC Watch app.
What do you guys hope for?
First A500 ROM (Taboonay, Villain...) should be port to A100 easily ! (I hope !)
Then I'm not waiting at all for touchwiz or sense ROM cause Honeycomb is already nice...

Porting CWM is not the problem. In fact, the A500 CWM may work, if you can get it booted. The problem is, when you flash the recovery partition with CWM, you can no longer boot into recovery due to a checksum mismatch that the bootloader performs. The bootloader is encrypted, so can't modify it.
<Sepculation>
I am wondering though.. I believe the A100 and A500 are very similary in hardware (except the screen size). I wonder if it's possible to flash the bootloader from A500 to the A100. Kind of like downgrading the A500 from the new 3.2 back to 3.01. hmm.... i may have to visit best buy.

You have a great point here. With ICS just around the corner for this device (January IIRC) any Devs would be probably rather wait to put their effort in once that arrives.
I think it will take many polite requests for someone (Developer) to grab hold of this one. Or one of them to buy one and want to hack the heck out if it for themselves as well as us. I'm an avid hacker/tester but not a developer sadly. I wish I had more time to learn code and to develop. However, 60 hours a week (6 days) of work with a wife and 3 kids limits my free considerably.
Devs will defenetly wait for the ics to be release
Until ICS arrives I am happy with being able to root the device without unlocking the boot loader. But having a custom recovery like CWM would be great, let's wait and see what the Devs do after ICS arrives.

The encrypted locked bootloader hinders devs from doing dev work on it. With amazing hardware, I'm hoping the devs will work this after Acer rolls out ICS next month, hopefully. I really like to have a custom recovery so I can at least do a nandroid backup in case I eff'd up even the stock ROM.

Hey are you talking about when you go to your phone app and call ##77647266488 and then enter the default code 000000.
Followed by selecting the option "field test menu" and then swiping 3 pages to the right and scrolling down untill you see the data service option which lists either Pre 707, Qualcomm, or IS 707. (Your device should already be set to IS 707. But you can change it to Qualcomm.
Hope this helps you
No I was talking about when it's plugged into your computer and it's recognized as a Qualcomm device instead of a kin. No one ever seemed to remember and I don't have a kin anymore all its no help now, but I'm thinking about picking one up to play with.... So well see.

Kin phone flashing
Sounds like a good idea except maybe for a couple things. The tutorial talks about how you need to have access to the parition, but we haven't been able to get anywhere near the system data really.I think the paritions are still locked and need the SBK to have access to whatevers on there.(Nvflash)Not to put your idea down or anything, but thats just how far we got.
http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-in...th-interop-unlock-on-nokia-lumia-800-and-710/
If we could have access to the partitions we could do a full rom dump.We need to figure out the secure boot key somehow for when we use nvflash.I can see what you were saying about trying to get into the qualcomm mode though. If we can do that, then there is a chance this would work.I had another idea too,but not sure if it would work.
I think it was qualcomm mode set through the secret menu and i had it connected through bitpim and it came up as a serial connection in linux. My thought was that maybe if we made this cable we could have access to the efs.Not really sure though cause i remember someone talking about e-fuses on here when trying to access it through bitpim. Here is the guide though of what i wanted to try:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Android-G1-Serial-Cable/
Besides that i know they have movinand chip reader/writers but they are crazy expensive! Also i read somewhere it might be possible to hook the chip to the guts of a sd card and read it like that.I posted a topic on the general forum in hopes this project would get more attention.I would really hope one day to have android on this phone or apps/games at the least.

Hello everyone. This is Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro.
As you all know, it's 2nd-init recovery. That means if your phone bricks, only lgnpst will revive your phone.
First its how-to is same as the first one with small letters on it
1. Install application that I uploaded
2. Open it and Click 2nd-init recovery
3. Click Reboot recovery to see it worked.
As you know, we cannot change boot image. That will brick your phone.
And if you want to reboot recovery by pressing button, reboot it and you will see button flickering. Than you have to click any button. Fast.
That's all. And of course, you have to have your device rooted.
Thanks to: 985hPaKicK(WHO MADE THIS RECOVERY) and wkpark(who found out the way to increase font size, see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30818456&postcount=8)

Yes, you can
Are we supposed to get a couple fc once we press reboot recovery? Seems to work great otherwise. I just wanted to make a quick backup before I start removing bloat.

I'd not remove the bloat if I were you. If your phone boot loops, there is no way into recovery. I'd just freeze the apps using titanium or something instead.
To answer your question, I get the force closes as well.

I didn't fully remove anything. I just renamed most of the at&t apps to .bak using root explorer. Now I have working WiFi tether and I'm all set!

I dont remove either. just freeze or disable.
I dunno who created this recovery but until we get a unlocked bootloader theres no way to use this if your softbrick or bootloop. The dev should look into implementing a timeout feature when you reboot your device. The moto phones have this kind of recovery with bootstrap and safestrap. We could use it until we crack this thing.

The problem is for some reason LG devices get no love from DEV's. Unless its a NEXUS. Its bull crap the S4 and HTC devices get cracks and roms.

Yeah ive noticed that. Im debating exchanging mine for a s4. Not sure yet. I have to have at least some kind of aosp or custom rom - kernel.
I'm going to remain patient, but for sure if I don't see any kernels fixing the phone's ability to render live wallpaper without lag I'll be sselling mine and buying the s4 developer edition. That is, as long as it still supports the remote control feature.

Why not just get a regualr s4? Once the bootloader is unlocked you will have aosp. Thats what ill do if i exchange. To be honest ive gone through the lg forums and aside from the nexus 4 these phones dont get much if any love. Shame as this phone is great and has great potiential. Shame i only have a week and 1/2 left to exchange if i have to. I dont see the bootloader being cracked by then.

I have an LG Nitro and there have been quite a few roms (most importantly official CM support) on our forums. I even installed the ubuntu test thingy on mine. But I'll have to admit I do get jealous of some of the other phones who don't just get occasion roms but regular releases of most of them.
welcome to the lg team guy....lolllll when i bought mine last week, one of my motivation was the fact that i"m not such a "flasholic"...so since for now we can root this thing and flash rom (stock rom) with cwm...a debloated rom will follow for sure, i"m positive!!! but dam, compair to sammy on DEV side...its like running in ferrari and fall in "mini" lollll
lg just entering in the "top" device with the g pro...even if the note 2 is 6 month old...its the first phone that i saw lg putting specification beyond sammy in phablet side.....:good:

As good of a phone as it is im not super confident we will get much development. Im going to exchange for a s4 tomorrow. The development coming to that device is unreal. They arent even unlocked yet either but its coming shortly lol.

I would stick with this but to each their own. This is a far superior phone to the S4. Funny is that I'm a flash-o-holic but I love this phone way too much.
