This is a CWM flashable zip to remove Carrier IQ from deodexed EK02 ROMs. The framework and apps contained within the zip are completely unmodified aside from the removal of Carrier IQ. I did this for my own EK02 based ROM, which you can expect within the next few days, but thought I might as well post this mod for others to use since it concerns privacy and is so important.
Credit goes to k0nane for his work on the original noCIQ mod for the Epic 4G Touch. Without the ability to reference his previous work it would have taken me a week instead of a day. More information can be found in his original thread here.

Someone else will have to provide that I'm afraid. I don't and have never re-odexed any of my mods or ROMs. Just makes it more difficult for people to modify and theme in my opinion, which is the whole reason we're here . And if you think there's a noticeable difference in speed between odexed and deodexed, I think you're experiencing the placebo effect firsthand.
Seems as if only supercurio's app can identify if carrier IQ is inactive.

FYI, don't worry about what his app says. It's flagging a few log entries from the BootCompletedReceiver class only because it's in a folder known to contain Carrier IQ code, but it has been modified not to start anything relating to Carrier IQ. Not that there's anything left to start really.

Lol I understand the concept, I was actually implying his app was more advanced than others. The other apps just detect carrier IQ
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Hmm... it seems supercurio's app is also flagging the Sprint extension service as being Carrier IQ. This service seems to be somewhat tied to Carrier IQ, but as far as I know it's required for activation on the network and possibly some other network related functions. All of the "bad" parts of Carrier IQ should be removed and/or disabled though. Maybe konane will chime in on this soon. He's certainly done more research on Carrier IQ than I.

There was a request for theme templates for the ET4G, so i though i would upload mine that i use.
Q: What is a theme template?
A: This is the base for every themers build. This can be comnsidered the foundation in which you start. If you are new to this and have found Dreamsforgotten tutorial on theming, you will see that he refers to this for the starting point.
Q: How do i use this?
A: There are two ways to use this. You can use this to return your phone to a clean slate if you have flashed a theme , or you can use this to build you theme and flash it through CWM.
In building this i have found a couple of interesting facts.
1: if you flash this and get an ERROR STATUS 0 you need to toggel the asserts in recovery. Make sure they are enabled.
2: if you build you own updater-script and get a ERROR STATUS 6, you have a syntext error in your script
Use this one for EG30
Use this one for EG31 - there are minor diffrences between the two, pointed out by Calk, so i decided to make both. His Quote!!

Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It's made and ported by someone, lol I forgot who. Try asking that dev. I'm guessing it came from the original s2 which doesn't have 4g which explains why we also don't have it.
Edit: Wanam made the toggles port and I think sleshepic helped.

The 4g toggle was never implemented by Wanum in his original release and noone has been able to add it in since it has been ported over. I'm sure it doesn't help that we've lost a few of the best devs to other phones since then.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
yeah, what TD said. The 4g extended toggles we had on GB was actually a mod that added 4g to the standard set, and was not based on wanam's toggles from the international s2. The problem with that now is that the smali files we have to go off of don't exist anymore in ICS - totally different set of files altogether. And unfortunately I am not qualified to write in whole smali code at the moment

Multiview should arrive as an OTA as it did for Sprint. No models shipped with it (not sure about the international model).

There isn't a mod available yet for our phone that will enable the multiview feature...they might have it for other note 2"s but i don't know if it's safe to try on the at&t version
Well here's the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961314
And I checked the zip and its nothing to damage the phone as long as you have a backup. Its just an app and a framework jar. And it works for the sprint so could possibly work. I don't have mine yet so I can't flash the zip but I would try it. If you have a good backup you can flash it and see if it works!
Personally, I think I will wait until we get a good working ROM going. I was browsing the s3 forums and noticed they had a port from the note 2 with unlimited multiview built in so I'm sure some talented dev will get it going for us soon. I must admit, this feature was one I was really looking forward to and one of the main reasons for upgrading. Was kind of shocked and disappointed when I got home and saw my nice new present to myself but MISSING FEATURES! Lol

Can anyone provide a flashable zip? I know how to do it manual but I`d rather have a flashable zip It was once posted in a thread but I dont remember. for it to show 4G instead of H+ and LTE instead of 4G
I dont mean to be rude but, whats the point?
This is easy to do, but the only way I know how to do it requires the SystemUI.apk to be replaced. This would remove any themes you have applied to the status bar. Theoretically you can use any icon you want to, but Touchwiz only has a few icons included (so you can make your own or switch to generic Android icons). If you are okay with these things, I can make a flashable zip file for you.

I totally understand the point for the OP's request - personally, we recently got LTE in the area I live in - it was big deal to me - seeing the 4G LTE show up in the status bar was always very satisfying for me - I had waited so long to get it - the other symbols, while meaning the same thing - just don't have the same sort of "panache".... it may sound silly to you - but I get it. Unfortunately, I personally would not want to lose theming just to have the 4G lte show up the way the OP requested - better to have it baked into what ever theme you are using or if you know how, to manually do it -
I really just wanted to respond to the lack of tolerance I saw in response to the op request - each of us has a right to appreciate whatever special little tweak might be possible on our phones and it really should not be discouraged - it is what XDA is all about. Every theme or ap or rom is not for everyone - each chooses what is most important to them - so if you don't happen to agree with what one person likes - so what? you wouldn't have to flash it would you?
I'm running clean ROM att I don't care for atts 4g icon so I used the stock is rather still see what I got now than att but would be better if it said lte
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I understand wanting to see the LTE symbol. However, H+ is still technically 3G, so if you change that to 4G, you're just lying to yourself.

Rushing, I flashed the IQ removed version, and know I want the ripple effect one (wife's phone, so I don't want to reflash cause I already updated all apps etc. etc)
If I want to change it, should I download the ROM with the ripple effect, and make a flashable for only the framework-res.apk, or there is something else I should do.
If you have the flash.zip for that mod (that includes the tethering IQ and ripple)
Thanks!!!
BDW, the ROM is working great. I installed others first but those still need some time to iron the mods they are getting into it, so I would rather stay in the safe side for now, until the others ROMs mature a bit.
