i'm looking for a way to split the SMS alerts and Email alerts Tone OR even just turn off the Email alert tone but keep the SMS one.
Under settings in messaging app you can change the ringtone.
I believe you can do the same in the gmail app by going into the account settings.
I do not use the default exchange app anymore so I can't help you with that one

Can you have different sound notifications for sms and exchange emails? I know you can have different ones for gmail and specific contacts can have specific ring tones etc, but i can't seem to get a different tone for my sms messages to my work exchange emails Hopefully i'm just being blind and one of you clever lot will point me in the right direction!!
Cheers in advance!
You can download sms pop-up, a neat little app that adds to the notification capability of the stock sms app.

Create a folder on your sd card called notifications put what sounds you want on it then go into sound settings pick what sound you want as an email notification then go into the sms application where you will be able to set a different sound for your sms
Cheers fella's. The SMS pop-up has cured the issue
I've been trying to figure two things :
1) I take a 5MP pic with my Desire and want to mail it, is it at all possible to resize the picture i mail in attachment ?
2) i'd love to have a different notification sound for my incoming mail than for regular notifications, is it possible ? i can customize my incoming sms messages notification by using Handcent SMS.
thanks
Yves
Don't know about the first one.
But the email notifications can be set directly in the email application (Menu-Settings). The same goes for SMS.
It took me a while to figure out that I have to change the notifications in directly in the applications.

Thanks Ferus,
in the menu section you can say whether you want to be notified but you cannot change the sound of the notification. I wasn't clear on that in my previous mail. I'd like to change the sound just like you can in WM6. a different sound for different events

In the Settings of Google Mail application I have the option to be notified and also select the ringtone.

Yes you're right; however for the Exchange mail or any other POP account you cannot define it.
I gather there is no possibility to assign a specific notification sound for an incoming mail. Perhaps anyone has heard of an application who can do it ?
Anyone has an answer for me concerning the resizing of pictures when mailing them ?
I made couple of notifactions tones, and when i set one for text and email. If i set one for email and a text comes in, i get the same sound, or if i set it for text, i get the same sound on email... How can i set each one to its own?
Go into email app and pick the tone u want. Then go into text app and pick a tone

I don't think this is possible?
It is only if you use a 3rd party email / sms app.

Or a Sense 2+ ROM, I believe. I definitely have the option to have a different notification for my SMS than my E-mail. In fact, I have separate notifications for GMail, HTC E-mail, GTalk, & SMS.
go into the app and go to the settings for each app then choose notification settings. in the gmail app its in the account settings-then labels to notify.
I am using Synergery RLS1+god mode... I do go into the each app and change it but still same thing.
Is there a way to attach a ringtone to a specific gmail email addresses? I get about 100 emails a day. I need to attach a ringtone to the most important senders.

It's always kind of baffled me that the Gmail app doesn't provide a way to select the notification tone. I think the common work-around is to set your default notification tone to whatever you want Gmail's to be, then change your SMS tone within the Messaging app.

Huh? You can change each GMail label's ringtone independently in the settings. GMail > Settings > GMail Label you wish to change > Ringtone & Vibrate > Ringtone.
As to OP's question, I don't know how to get a contact-specific GMail notification.
To build off this set up a label on every incoming email from a specific email address from whoever.. Then set the ringtone for that label. Rinse and repeat.
*Might have to use a computer browser for more settings for label making.

Consider setting up / using priority inbox. It only notifies for priority emails. You just need to mark which ones are important or not.

How do you get notifications to only work for priority mail and not go off with each email that comes into your inbox? What settings will accomplish this? I have learned how to attach specific ringtones to labels, but not how to turn off the rest without turning off the ones that I want.
