I am new to this. I am a Bell customer in Ontario and I don't want to brick my Diamond and want to unlock it. I need to know if it's CDMA or GSM is that correct? Can anyone help?
I think the diamond by bell is cdma because It's the model with the round corners, and that's CDMA.
Bell is CDMA for sure.
Forgive a relative noob, but are Desire GSM and Desire CDMA ROMs different? I have an Incredible but am trying to index Desire ROMs for http://www.heylisten.org/ROMs/android and don't know whether to categorize them differently. The Inc, of course, along with almost everything else, has only one version, so there's no question there, but I'm stumped on the Desire. I don't want to confuse anyone, but I don't want to force users to reflash unnecessarily. Thanks in advance for answers!
CDMA and GSM are different types of mobile networks. Because of their different way of functioning, phones need have specific hardware and drivers to be able to use the network. That said, a CDMA phone will not function using a GSM network and vice-versa. Usually, networks are GSM (all over Europe, and I don't think there is any country in the world which has only CDMA networks). The only CDMA's I know of are USA's Sprint and Verizon, though I don't know much about Asia and Canada.
The ROM's are different when it comes to the radio, and a bad radio WILL brick the device, so you should definitelly state which one are for CDMA and which for GSM (there's a chatch here: since a lot of the Disire's are GSM, you could specify all ROM's are for GSM, unless stated they're for CDMA).
Hey all, purchased a sealed One V from a guy on a PC forum. He said it's CDMA.
Now I thought Virgin US was GSM, and Virgin EU was CDMA?
Is he probably right? If so, which would be better in the US?
I was thinking most of you on here have the GSM model ROMS, etc. So hopefully mine is still root-friendly..
Virgin USA is cdma. And as far as I know Europe doesn't have any cdma networks.
Sent from my GT-I8350 using Board Express
Gotcha! Thanks, I thought the same.
Appreciate it!

I am from India. I was using this mobile with Reliance CDMA. After the recent change in which Reliance has changed from CDMA to GSM, I am using the same slot for the GSM sim. The net work mode has automatically changed to Global mode.
Hope this info helps.
Hi guys, I want to buy HTC Desire 12+ phone from US Cellular company. As I know, US Cellular is CDMA company but I want to unlock it for GSM, so my question is - is HTC Desire U12+ CDMA compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket, Straight Talk etc?
Thanks
there is no Desire U12+, just Desire 12/12+, if you own one of these, then head over to their forum, you're wrong here
