[Q] Desire complete freeze in HBoot - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
i got a HTC Desire from my Brothers Friend. So he said he was normally using his device and suddenly it reboots into HBoot.
So i got it and it's really only booting into HBoot. Hardware Keys Vol up and down and even the power button are after boot not reacting, only solution to turn off is to pull out battery.
I tried connceting to pc and and flash standart HTC ROM but also no chance that the device could be detectet..BUT on display there is a message when i connect usb.
Without the Vol Buttons it's quite difficult. So i told him to send the device to HTC, but it hasn't warranty anymore and before he pays much money i'm asking here. Maybe there is a solution.
Best regards
romskii

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

boot into fastboot (Hold BACK & POWER), then run the RUU. Sounds like water damage to me.

There is only this screen.. Can't press any key. Water? Ah thats interesting, Bit he said he was normaly using the Device and then this, maybe a little lier :-D

Well since you can't get into fastboot and HW keys don't work there's nothing you can do but get it repaired by HTC, sorry dude.

Okay that what i was thinking about. I just wanted xda advice, big thanks

[Q] How can I check if my WF S i S-OFF/ON?

Hi Guys,
how can I check if my HTC Wildfire S (2.3.3) is S-OFF/ON? I have tried method like that: press volume down button + power button and it doesn't works. When I release buttons phone boots normally to Android, not the recovery menu.. So, how can I get info if my WF S is S-OFF/ON?
Have you tried looking through the other threads in this section?
No you haven't, I know because I have answered this question in at least 2 other threads.
Go to settings, power, deselect fast boot, then you power down.
Then hold vol down and power at the same time, you will now get the boot screen.
Sorry for being annoyed, but it's annoying reading the same questions in different threads purely because people cannot be bothered to search and read threads/posts first.
Google is great for finding answers

Yeah, you're overthinking this one a bit. Just write a formal letter, letter explaining your a piece of *** and that you rooted your phone when you were a kid bc you didn't know any better but your daddy whooped your ass and taught you a lesson and you solemnly swear to never do it again. Just kidding. Write a letter explaining your phone was stolen and when you finally got it back you had found the phone was infected or something so they wont suspect you did anything and you'll be good to go.
My Z was rooted when I sent it back to repair the powerbutton. I got it back for free with the stock-ROM on it. I heard nothing about root and I did not have to pay a penny.
but htc has released the boot loader unlocking tool (root?) so doesn't that mean its okey for htc that we have custom roms running on these.

Yes and no. The thing is, with the unlock bootloader thing they made it so that if you get it they keep track of who you are (in order to properly void your warranty) so if you rooted in a different way to them it's just as "bad"

Have you rooted?

General question really - have you rooted your device?
Not rooted yet waiting for s-off first and more roms to drop my nexus and gs2 are rooted so its a no brainer this will get the magic done

sorry very new here and want to know how do we wait for the s-off? is that something similar to like cf-root kernels that root the samsung phones...sorry i am trying to get as much info as i can before i do anything, which by the looks of it will not be for a very long time yet

We need to wait for a tool to allow us to S-OFF, so we can reverse it if going back to stock. Then it's similar to galaxy we can flash via CWM.

It could take a while to get s-off. Someone needs to find their way through the new security protecting the radio to change the flag. It is possible, it's just a question of time. I also am waiting for s-off. Not rooted yet.

Yeps rooted ..
if i dont root my phone i cant do anything
As other poster says it just allows us to go back stock for warranty etc and it makes the process safer as such. Then its exactly like galaxy cwm and roms
ahh cool thanks guys...to be honest so far phone is running smooth and already disabled most of the crap from the phone anyway...although i must admit i am already missing my TB and other rooted apps. oh well this is like a whole new adventure.
Better wait and be safe than do something stupid..What about the htcdev.com is no one thinking about doing it that method?
Forget that method as there are certain warranty issues arising if you use the tool, read the thread in development with user comments which go into detail. Wait for revolutionary

The power button rattles if you shake the phone. Anything else, return it

Still no root for me... and personally I don't see any issue to unlock my device with HTCDev's online tool.
HTC can anyway recognize if an eventual problem is an hardware fault or something caused by custom software ran on the device.
I can't hear anything rattling on my One X.

Send it back, rattling is never a good sign.
I wouldn't unlock/root my phone with the HTCDev, they can use that against you if you ever encounter issues. Even when the rooting isn't the cause of the problem, if they say it is: are you going to start a lawsuit because of it ? No. So you are practically defenseless.

It isn't strange, even when a 100 pound device is rattling I would return it. Rattling isn't something you expect with smartphones.

can't get into bootloader or download mode
I'm afraid that is a hard brick due to partition error such as hboot & recovery and only HTC can repair it.
See what I googled here
Also see this, it is complicated to do it on our own.
I feel bad for you bro.
my one v is still under warranty
so i bring it to the Service Center
the next day i called
my phone is fixed
and i got new Battery
new Mainboard
new Main FPC ASSY wo MicroP Regional ID *i dont know what this means
and that's all for free
this is the invoice
--------------------------------------------
Item Description
1. Battery Li Polymer 1500mAh
2. FRU Mainboard HTC One V
3. Adhesive - Double Tape Main FPC-SD SIM - Conductive
4. FPC ASSY Main FPC Wo MicroP Regional_ID_Low Pro#

I got this problem, too. when I tried to get into fastboot mode (by pressing vol down and power button) when I released it I've got blank screen and when I connect it to my pc I got QHSUSB_DLOAD... I didn't change anything, just trying to get into bootloader

So if you try to access the bootloader, you will probably end up bricking your phone? That's interesting. Is this One V T320e?

HTC One X, dead and APX mode

Hi all friends,
Today my htc onex goes black screen. It never go into hboot menu neither getting power on. When I connect it to PC , It shows "APX"
with yellow question mark.
Its new problem to me and never happened .
I am worry and nothing know what to do.?
I hope one of you will help and guide me to overcome this problem.
Thanks and regards,
Check if fast boot and adb works. Also have a look at the S-OFF thread in HTC One X general forum. Click there is someone else that got into apx mode. My guess is that you have some defective hardware.
