Hey guys this is the modem.bin everyone's been waiting for in a CWM flashable zip.. Thanks to Przekret for the awesome leak!
** Check out the NEW ODIN One-Click package I made below **
Read First
Use this to go from EG31 to EG30 first THEN update to a newer modem like EK02.
If you are using Rogue Recovery 1.1.0 or 1.1.3 Outlaw, you must update to Rogue *Stock EK02* Kernel v1.1.1 before flashing this or it will hang
Looks like there is an issue with Rogue Recovery 1.1.0
For those of you on that version try updating your kernel\CWM first
1. Download here: Rogue *Stock EK02* Kernel v1.1.1
2. Flash kernel in CWM
3. Reboot back into recovery
4. Flash Modem zip
Click to collapse
It might take 1 to 2 minutes to finish flashing.. So be patient
If you are still having trouble, make sure that the downloaded zip file is not currupt. Verify the MD5 hash with a program like HashCalc (Windows), gHasher (Linux), MD5Checker (Android)
MD5:
Code:
92e96ec30237ace9bd9bcf778e19dfd0
If it doesn't match, re-download zip file, and try re-flashing through CWM.
*NEW* How To Flash in ODIN One-Click:
Download and Open EG30_MODEM_ODIN-OneClick.exe
Reboot into Download mode (Power + Vol Down) and Connect Phone to USB
Click Start once you have a COM port ready
Wait for about 1-2 minutes for it to complete.. Progress bar will be at 100% the whole time so don't get scared and be patient
You phone will reboot once it's finished

yeah, still not familiar with samsung devices but HTC devices would instabrick if you pulled battery during a modem flash. Because I was worried, I didn't want to boot into the OS before download mode so I pulled the battery.
I'm sure it would have been fine either way since there are people that have flashed roms to their phone section in odin

Briefing
So, I've realised that in every single Gingerbread ROM thread, the developers are writing that to install their ROM you must be on Ginger or you have to flash whole XXJVK ROM via ODIN (about 150MB to download), if you're using any kind of Froyo now. When I was doing new version of my DebusROM, I've invited simple method to install the needed bootloaders and kernel with CWM.
How it works?
Method is simple. You just need to flash a small 8MB file via ODIN. It will flash Primary Bootloader, Secondary Bootloader (needed for Gingerbread) and the kernel with CWM recovery. The next step is to flash the ROM you want. It is much faster and light weight method than flashing the WHOLE JVK Gingerbread. It was tested by me in a few circumstances and It works!
Download
There is one version available, which is the most stable and safe one.
Gingerbread Starter with SpeedMOD K13E [DOWNLOAD]
ODIN version 1.7 [DOWNLOAD]
INSTALLATIONFirst of all, I'm not responsible for any black scenarios. This thing flashes bootloader, if it fails it means you have trouble. But don't worry it shouldn't
1. Download the right version from section above
2. Reboot your phone into Download mode
3. Connect your phone to computer
4. Run ODIN
5. Select Gingerbread_Starter_KERNEL_ODIN.tar.md5 as a PDA file in ODIN
6. Check the "Phone Bootloader Update" checkbox
7. Click Start
8. Wait until phone reboots and make it reboot into Recovery
9. Flash your Gingerbread ROM
10. Simple, isn't it?
Below, this is how should look ODIN before flash

It should work with any custom rom, right?
So this is also answered my question so far about what the 'Update Phone Bootloader' tickbox use for...

You MUST check if Download Mode works or not, and if you can boot into recovery or not If Download mode works just flash bootloaders once again via ODIN, then flash ROM via Recovery. If recovery works, flash the ROM.

1. Touch of ICS theme by Tiffany84
2. Added AOSP gallery for nice widget
3. Changed settings background to GNex scaled grey (thanks Ben's for help and research)
4. Changed touch sound to GNex sound (thanks Ben's for help and research)
5. Removed boot sound
5. Silenced Camera.apk as much as I could. It does make sound only when getting focus. No shutter sound, no recording sound on video.
6. Removed stock boot animation
7. Added International SGS II Boot animation.
8. Added app to switch between MTP and USB storage.
9. Removed bloatware.
Added tweaks:
1. Added VM managment.
2. Internet speed
3. Battery tweaks in buid.prop and in init.d
4. Kernel tweaks in init.d (hope it works as planned).
5. Low memory management.
6. Tweak to help phone to go to deep sleep when idle.
If you need tether you should fall back to wifi tether for root users for now.
Installation instructions:
1. Download rom zip file.
2. Download modem zip file (optional)
3. Copy files to root of your sd card
4. Boot into recovery.
5. Do a NAND back up (optional but strongly recomended).
6. If you still running any GB build flash/apply Calkulin's format all zip. This step can be skipped if you running ICS builds. I have tried flashing this rom over FD10 ICS rom and had no problems. Also I have flashed rom after using Calk's format all script. No problems either.
7. Apply rom zip in recovery.
8. Apply modem zip in recovery.
9. Boot to system.
tFD24_v0.1.0
1. http://d-h.st/Y0k Odexed Rom.
2. http://d-h.st/TMG Deodexed Rom
Rom comes with Team Rogue FD02 repacked kernel with CWM recovery and init.d support.
If you want to run completely stock themed rom here is zip file to flash stock
FD24 kernel:
http://d-h.st/zv1 Stock FD24 kernel (no CWM recovery)
Please note that if you flash this kernel init.d scripts will not run and you will not have some of the tweaks.
I made a flashable zip for modem for those of you who want to flash it in recovery.
You can download modem here:
http://d-h.st/Gch
Here are links to removed app zip files:
1. http://d-h.st/sow Removed Odexed Apps.
2. http://d-h.st/KDQ Removed DeOdexed Apps.
If you want any of removed apps back download the zip file. Delete any app you don't want from /system/app folder using 7z and flash rest of it in recovery.
Please note if you are on odexed rom with any app you delete you should delete the .odex file as well.

First off, a huge thanks to sextape for this latest Boost FG20 leak!
Thanks also goes to sfhub (for teaching me how to create Odin One-Click.exe files and creating the original thread I'm using as a template for this one), Agat63 (for helping me get the hang of what sfhub started teaching me), chris41g (for hosting all my work here and with the Modem and Kernel Repositories), Febby (for posting instructions on how to Root the ROM and fix the MMS).
This Odin One-Click.exe contains the Stock Boost FG20 Kernel, Modem and ROM for the Samsung Epic 4G Touch. They have all been reported as working on the Sprint version with minimal issues.
There has been no change to the ROM from the initial leak. This ROM is not rooted. For instructions on how to easily root it please see this thread.
This will NOT trigger the Yellow Triangle NOR will it increment the ODIN flash count.
This does NOT have the issue with the USB jig being disabled.
I have provided two versions, one that resets your whole phone to the stock Boost FG20 experience, similar to a factory restore. The other is a No Data version, which is also the stock Boost FG20 but doesn't overwrite your User Data.
Instructions - Thanks to sfhub!
1) Backup anything important and Disable any PINs.
During this process your phone's software will be returned to the Stock Boost setup. All system data will be lost.
To be safe, it is best to archive your backup off your phone, ie on your PC or dropbox.
1) Install Samsung USB/Android drivers (if necessary). [USB/Android]
2) Download the FG20 Stock ROM.
Boost_FG20_Unrooted_Stock_Rom.exe (Reset user data)
Boost_FG20_Unrooted_Stock_Rom_NoData.exe (Preserve User Data - do NOT use if downgrading versions)
3) Unzip ROM using 7zip.
4) Start ODIN One-Click.
Navigate to the location where the Boost_FG20_Unrooted_Stock_Rom.exe was saved.
Double click on Boost_FG20_Unrooted_Stock_Rom.exe. *On Vista or newer, you may need to right-click on the file and Run as Administrator.
5) Place phone in Download Mode.
Power down phone.
Wait for capacitative button lights to turn off.
Simultaneously Press and Hold [Power]+[Volume Down] until confirmation screen appears.
Press [Volume Up] to enter Download mode.
6) Connect USB cable to PC and phone.
Odin should show a yellow COM port in the second column. If you do not see a yellow COM port, you may need to run the ODIN One-Click as Administrator and/or unplug/plugin the USB cable after starting ODIN One-Click.
7) Start ODIN flash process.
Press [Start].
8) Complete - PASS!
Status should change to green PASS! At this point your phone should automatically reboot.
Android Instructions
Use Mobile ODIN to Open File the Boost_FG20_Unrooted_Stock_Rom.exe. FYI - Modem might not flash consistently with Mobile Odin
The boot process will take slightly longer than usual during which time you'll see the 4G logo screen.
For NoData install:
- If you are getting random force closes, wipe cache/dalvik-cache
- If you have troubles with Android Market, clear data from menu->applications->all->market->clear data
- If you have troubles booting into Android, perform factory reset in ICS using the ODIN OneClick Factory Reset tool. Do NOT perform factory resets using stock recovery or privacy->reset, at least until you read about the EMMC superbrick/lockup bug and understand what the trigger points are and what you are exposing yourself to.

FAQ's
WARNING:
FLASHING MC2 RECOVERY WILL REQUIRE YOU TO ODIN A NEW RECOVERY
Q: TWRP/CWM is giving error XYZ?
A: Update to latest recovery, redownload file & check MD5, reinstall.
Q: Why doesn't this include modem XYZ?
A: Because I felt like it.
Q: Will this work on...
A: Stop. No, just the L900, & I've only tested on Twhiz. I havent tested on CM but I'm sure it's fine. CM folks please test & report.
Q: I read an error in Aroma saying modem not installed, what do I do?
A: Try again, if issue presists use a diffrent modem until you can get the one you want working. Also look here.
As long as the MD5 checks out it's probably a borked script. A damn comma I bet!
Q: My question isn't in the FAQ or thread?
A: Cry about it. :silly:
MOD Q: Why did you post this here? PREPARE TO BE MOVED!
A: Hold on fair and accurate Moderator, in the rules I felt it was conveying apks and themes, & this is firmware.

Great idea but damn pain to try and download. Got to jump through to many hoops. Got tired of trying to find the actual download and gave up. FYI you might want to find a better host before mods close this down.

If you remember the internet BEFORE high speed dsl and ATT, it used MODEMS. The modem in your phone does the same functions... So this will UPDATE you to the latest and newest modem for your phone... May I suggest SEARCH... although I dummed it down for you google search or xda search would have told you this...
thanks op.... worked like a champ!!

Awesome! (SlimKat4.4 also) I'm about to do the same.
Yes it worked. From SlimKat 4.4
1. Copied Zip into external SD Card.
2. Held power menu and chose boot to Recovery. (ClockWork Recovery)
(In CWM)
3. Cleared Cache.
4. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Install Zip
6. Agreed to Walter White's terms.
7. Install finishes before seeing 100%, restarted at 90% for me.
8. Baseband shows MK4
Thanks

He's Jean-Luc Heisenberg. But I call him sir... lol
** Stock sprint .tar NJ2, UNROOTED, untouched, from SamMobile**
** Keeping this as simple as it can be **
x Unzip the files to the Odin folder ( comes with 2 files, the tar, and the ss_dl.dll, Extension should be .tar.md5 @ 1,531,471 kb. )
x Set device into download mode ( Vol Down + Home + Power, press Vol Up on dialog to continue )
x Open Odin ( I recommend v3.09 ), load .tar file into "PDA" or "AP" slot. ( Depending on which Odin you prefer to use. )
x Plug in the device. ( Optimal using rear USB Ports @ 2.0 and the original device cable it came with. )
x Take a look and make sure there's a box reading COM:## in Odin at the top ( Doesn't matter about the ## as long as it reads COM: ), and wait for drivers to successfully finish installing if it hasn't done so already.
x Select Start, and wait for it to finish.
xx It'll be ~15 minutes tops, So do whatev's you do in that moment of time.
Keynote: When I restored using the tar myself, it did not remove data, so wipe beforehand as a necessary precaution.
Download file ---> HERE <---
Please leave a message if the .tar or mirror link is busted, i'll gladly upload again.
Devs can use as a base if needed. no need for thanks no need for credits, as long as
we're pushing things out for the community and make em all happy
-- Creddies ( I always want to give where it's given! )
SamMobile, for all of Samsung needs and firmware news, Tar found on there.
XDA Forum Community, for what they do around here day in, day out.
Samsung, for the device.
Spark91, Mirror Link.
If I missed anyone, please leave me a message as I will add effective immediately. Or be shot down by Dev's so they can remove this post
effective immediately.
I might Need This
Doing a quick download on my end because my upload speed was wonky. If anyone else would like to try odin stock unrooted as well.
Yep, link is good, download is good, .tar odin flash is good.
root method working using Odin flash twrp 2.8.4.0 d2spr, flashing supersu v2.40!~ ( Initial start up, if removing knox the first time doesn't work, reboot device and go into supersu again to disable knox on stock odex in supersu app. If that method doesn't work, download rootchecker app verify su, and it should work that time )
Screenies.

Just go to sammobile.com and get the NJ3 tar if that's what you're looking for, but yes you can flash this over.

You can use ND8 ROMs, but since MK3 you can't downgrade your firmware, it's not going to change.

I didnt see the NJ3 tar on Sam Mobile :<
Grrr! Built 3 versions of the new ROM and only 1 booted. But it required the meta-inf from ND8 to boot and the about device info all said ND8. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Debloater?
@bilgerryan Would your debloater (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742937) work on this? Or is that ND8/MK3 only?

Try changing the install to system/bin and wait for the Smart Installer to finish loading.
