Maybe a dumb question, but I can't seem to find a way to get an address bar with a bookmark shortcut/button to stick at the top of the browser window. It's kind of annoying to have to go through that side shortcut thing to find the.bookmarks. I have toggled the full screen on and off a bunch of times but nothing changes.
Any ideas ?
Long press the back button
Hope this helps

Not sure if anyone is aware of this. If they are let me know and I'll delete the thread. Found something hide today, if you hold down the back key when in the browser it brings up your bookmarks and history. A little quicker than pressing the icon at the top, and then again. Sorry if everyone already knows.

Nice find! The top button was a bit hard to reach. Now a long hold and sideways swipe brings up the bookmarks tab
Nice tip man.
Not an ICS feature, but yeah a good tip to remember.
Been searching around, but couldn't find anything directly on this issue--
Is there any way to decrease the time that you need to hold the Home button to get the multitasking menu to pop up? As a side note, I've already disabled animations in the Developer Options, which helps to cut the time that it takes for the multitasking menu to become usable.
Thanks in advance.

well idk if this will be useful, but just use a gesture on a launcher to open up the multitasking menu. I didn't like how long the delay was either so now all I have to do is pinch n zoom with apex launcher and it opens it up.

Disable S-Voice if you're not using it , it adds about half a seconds to long press waiting for double click action.
Its under S-Voice settings menu , and or just freeze the whole application.

I've been considering that, but I generally don't like mucking with launchers. We'll see, though--thanks for the suggestion.

Do you mean disabling the double-tap to launch or the entire application? The former doesn't seem to impact the multitasking menu launch delay, and I'd rather not go with the second option.

no problem I hope you find a solution!
Anyone have additional ideas on this? Thanks!
I read that Wanam was working on a "no home button lag", coming son I guess.Keep an eye on the dev forum during the week to see if it pops up. I know it will sooner or later.
The JB roms we have have virtually no delay for the recent app window.
'Button Savior', I liked it so much I ended up getting the paid version. There is a free version to try. This allows me so much control without having to beat up my hardware buttons. Even the volume. Use it with a different launcher or not. It works either way.

I think that was applicable only to short-pressing the menu button (disabling double-tap to launch Siri gets rid of this delay anyways), and not the long-press Recent Apps menu, unfortunately.
Hey all,
I disabled the lockscreen on my arc because I found that with my case I don't have any issues with pocket dials and etc.
However now to turn on my screen I prefer to press the home button (rather then the unlock button on top). But whenever I press this button I find 9 times out of 10 the screen turns on, has lag for 1-5 seconds, then the recent apps drawer opens up. It does this even if I just tap the home button when its off. It seems when the phone is sleeping it thinks my quick press of the home button is a long press (causing the drawer to open up)
Is there any way to disable the recent apps from popping up? Or possible change the button that opens it? I am using Apex launcher and I don't see this as an option in there, I would like to stick with the same launcher if I can avoid changing.
Thanks everyone.
Edit: Sorry mods, meant to post this in Q & A
Anyone have any ideas? I am not finding much by searching.

im not sure try to look at /SYSTEM/USR/KEYLAYOUT/pm8058-keypad.kl (dont know if the name is that also for u) but this will change all option for a specif key. look other file around there in tht folder. i never did im sorry
There is also the Generic.kl file with all buttons and their function, the 102 is the home if im not wrong and the 139 the menu. Try to look if u find something like a line where it say that the 102 open the recent app and give it to someone. i dont have idea if this work xD

Hey there, sorry it took me a bit to get back to you.
So I went and tried this to no avail. Searched almost every file/folder (keyword search) for home, hold, and recent. It came up with nothing that looked any different then the other stuff. I am sort of thinking I am out of luck here.
Unless there is a way to edit my CPU settings to make it boot faster from sleep (thus preventing it from lagging/thinking I am holding the button?)
Just got the SGIII and my GNex is now my 16 month old daughters learning device. We installed a whole bunch of baby stuff but the problem is she keeps hitting the home button and exiting the app.
The phone is rooted and I am running the Nova launcher so I could remove all the navbar buttons... But then I won't be able to exit some apps if there isn't a built in exit option...
My idea was to add a HOME button to the power button menu. That way I would have a way to exit but my daughter shouldn't be able to figure it out so easily. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I'm running Codename Android ROM but I'd change if there was one that would work better.
Also, does anyone know how to disable the google search option when you drag your finger up from the bottom... I can't stand it, I always seem to do it by mistake myself.
Thanks,
Jim
i dont think this is possible..
Ok I figured as much. Any other ideas how I could hide home button but still have access to it via some other means?

This sounds exactly what you're after. It lets you remove/restore the navbar from the power menu, preventing unwanted exits.
Hi Experts,
First of all Marry Christmas to all of you
I have a question.... Is there a faster way or option to close all the windows after browsing the websites and go back to the default homepage or home screen ???
After done with browsing the internet. I pressed that little double square icon key next to the address bar and close all the windows one by one. Then I got a blank page (about:blank) instead of my default homepage (www.google.com).
When i press the 'Back key' it keep going back to all the websites that i browsed previously. I have to press the 'Back key' many times until i got the default homepage or home screen.
Any advice would be appreciated
Sorry for my poor english.
So are you seeking an answer as to how to make www.google.com your default web page?

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply. Really appreciated it.
Nope, i am seeking for an answer as how to close all the windows at once and get back to the home screen.
I have tried press the home key button and it does get back the home screen. But when i pressed the internet icon on the home screen, i got a blank page instead of my default homepage (google.com)
And when i pressed the back key, it goes back to the previously visited websites.....
I don't have this problem with the Galaxy S3.

Just pinch in the browser and close the Tabs.
If you're rooted, check out the CSC features thread over in the original Android development section, I remember seeing one for adding a quit/exit feature to the stock web browser.
