been looking throught the various apks trying to find how to change the background of the dialer, i want to change it to a pure black blackground but cant for the life of me find where it is. Ive included a pic for referance and would appreciate any help thanks

Have you tried looking in the Contacts apk?

yeh that was the first place i tryed , i was able to locate the blue dithered background which runs across the other 2 sub menus on same page ie call history and contacts but not this patterned one.
Apart from me thinking it would look better pure black it would also help me with banding issues i got

Black Venum and Red Kobra are...
Gave it a look and loved your theme too. But I am not the biggest fan of red Haha. If only you had that theme in multiple colors! Thanks though!

sorry, but i dont know how to make it a zip. however, root explorer is just as good. i backed up the old sms, copied and replaced with the new, tried to install, but nothing. rebooted and the changes set

Sorry I found the answer, didn't know about changing the view in the app drawer to customizable grid. I pushed the mms.apk through root explorer, rebooted and it worked but it removed the messaging dock icon and I'm only left with 3 dock icons. Any idea how to get it back? TIA

set your app drawer back into customizable grid>hit menu again>edit>drag mms icon back onto the dock

Try GoSMS. You don't need to have Go Launcher installed to use it. It has lots of themes and customization options. Pick the list view not bubble view. There is also an ICS theme that may match perfectly

I'm using GO right now actually. I like it a lot, but unfortunately the ICS theme is all black and blue. I'm checking out the user themes, but I'm not too hopeful. Thanks though.

I have been searching this long time and as nobody seem interested, try to do it by myself, but my knowledge is very limited and hasn't been able to make transparent the scroolable background....
There is, anyway, a black version out here, so it shouldn't be that dificult to change it to transparent.
In case someone with a little experience want to try, I attach cwm zips for both versions regular (white) and inverted (black)

I have already read better instructions here at XDA and also follow it without problems, being able to make transparent top and bottom ofthe widget (9.png files), but I'm nearly new in Android and unable to find the way to make transparent the scrollable background (where the messages list reside) and also to change text of messages to white.
I suppose that colours for that are defined in xlm files and search for it inside the apk folders, but none of the changes I made works.
Maybe the fellow who make the inverted version could send some light for us...

So you already tried to change the xml strings but it still don't work? How about with the inverted one that you made? Was it working when you change the xml?

Sorry, but I haven't made the Inverted version. I get it in the Gmail 4.2 leak thread where it was posted:

Yea me too please! I would love to have a transparent Gmal app (or at least the widget)!
Currently using the 4.2 inverted version on my CM10 modded Marvelc.
on the g3 the categories are colored (text, email, settings ect) i was wondering if theres a way to change the colors.
any one know?

Color Changing
This does not change the ugly Yellow color on the top and bottom of the Stock messaging theme...Any way to do this. As when you open messaging and there is a list of people you have messaged and the top and bottom of screen is yellow. Cannot find how to change this in G3 TweaksBox.. Thanks for any help.

You would need to pull the stock messaging.APK to your pc via ADB and then modify the RES/XML values yourself, then repack as an APK....

Lol I was saying the same thing.. I like the stock messaging app, probably the first stock one I ever had but that yellow is so hideous

Im going to have a go at theming this apk... it is ugly as sin in yellow lol... i use hangouts anyway so it doesnt bother me, but ill give it a go and let you all know how i get on!
What color would you ideally prefer?
I heard if u root and get the g3 tweaksbox theres a a feature to change that

[EDIT] I don't prefer any colors, just NOT that ugly yellow....Will it change for QuickCircle when you theme the APK? Hm..

Awesome! Anything but that yellow.. It just doesn't go at all! Maybe like a holo blue or just black or grey

Well im sure there will be a freature in g3 tweaksbox once the devs figure it put and make it easy cus i too hate the yellow.. you would think lg would let us change it..

I am still trying.
I thought i had it down, but when i pushed the apk back to my phone as a system app, it just FCs.
Im still working on it and will create a thread when its done - hopefully i will get all LG apps with neutral Grey (hangouts color) opposed to puke yellow, etc.

did that, found nothing in the xml or smali files about colors, did find some .png that matched the yellow color, tried changing them, doesn't see to do anything though, still yellow.
happy to do the work just don't know where to look and find the app header color
