[Q] Flashing AT&T Rom on a Rodgers version

Is this possible because I am looking to get it on newegg and the version is a rodgers version. If it is, please tell me how.

Well it is possible but if your on at&t you will have to unlock the phone to be able to use it on at&t

yes. At&t and rogers use all the same wireless frequencies (afaik) so as long as you unlock, you'll be good. I've had issues before though with GPS on phones from not my carrier. My old Milestone kept trying to reach telus servers for gps info. However, I was able to mitigate that by changing some files in the root folders. However I don't think that will be an issue with this phone - I'm currently using an at&t rom on my rogers phone and everything is super.

For me sometimes the onscreen keyboard doesn't show up when I need to type up something but it occurs to me when I slide open the actual physical keyboard and close it

I don't know if my method works all the time and if it's safe, but with GalaxSim Unlock, an app made for SG S3 (S3 has a very similar hardware it seems), my Note 2 N7100 is unlocked....
Maybe contact the author of the app on the market.

My carrier branded one was unlocked already. Worth a try.

Here is the thing.
I had N7105 unlocked by a box(no other unlock suchs has APK unlock was able due to a diferent knowe arquitecture, i have been told) (not even GalaxSym ..--emailed the programmer--..)
The problm is that 4G doesnt work in other operator than the one that came with the card (they both support 4G and are 4G sim card)
The phone came with TMN operator, i am OPTIMUS(aka orange) user....in TMN instantly 4G boots up...change to OPTIMUS sim...NOTHING...3G or 4G.....have to go to APN, choose one and activate manually(if i dont activate it wont work), then....set APN to standard setings(if not it wont work)......all those steps just to get the 3G working......reboot phone and all those steps all over again to get AGAIN 3G.....4G forget....
And the TMN APN is editable if i choose to....OPTIMUS no...greyish settings uneditable....
The phone is stock rom rooted.
Any help?

Tried using GalaxSim just recently myself. Says, "Unable to read NV data" and all of the details are undefined. Using an AT&T Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317).
I flashed the fully stock rooted ROM posted by MrRobinson (doesn't trip the flash counter or interfere with OTA, just adds root). Checked and confirmed I'm rooted (TI Backup and GalaxSim both report root). Also installed BusyBox from the market, just to see if somehow that wasn't quite right. Nothing seems to have helped.
Would love to use GalaxSim rather than one of the services like SIM-unlocker.net. Anybody have any ideas?

Unfortunately, it won't work with your model which has a Qualcomm chip for its radio part. I7100 is supported as its full exynos

Check n7105 development section.
It has instructions with a working free unlock

Ah bummer, thanks for the quick response though! Guess I'll have to buy a code through one of those sim-unlock.net type things.

Expertzero1 already took care of this. The method outlined the worked just fine for the AT&T model. There's still the problem of getting above Edge on T-Mobile, but that's another problem...

Network Unlock your ATT SGS3 for free (howto)

I just saw this on Reddit and tried it on my ATT SGS3. I used an old StarHub SIM I had laying around and it didn't ask for the unlock code, so I'm pretty sure it worked.
The instructions are for the GSM Note 2, but the author says it works for the GSM SGS3, too.

I think you have to be on a stock ROM to get it to work. I was running UCALH9, bone stock. Don't forget to thank the OP on the other thread!

I don't know. Since the SIM I had laying around was not a mini-SIM I had to chop it up, too. O_O
In theory you don't ever see the unlock prompt unless you insert a non-network SIM anyway, so I don't think there's any way to check without one.

Same here. I tried all the steps, but when I got to "now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ", I didn't have the "[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ" option, just the original 3 choices.

Ok so I didnt think this would work but it honestly did took two tries but I was able to insert a tmobile sim on a locked att phone without being prompt for the network unlock code and I did confrim I was able to make a call

Tried two different Bell phones.....same outcome.

If you are in the US with AT&T just call AT&T and tell them you are traveling abroad. You'll get the code right away. I chatted with support with a 2-week old SIII and got it right away.

The menu doesn't work on Rogers S3. oh well....

you might need to update your modem/baseband for this to work. i upgraded the modem and then these steps worked just fine. (from LG1 to LH9 on att)

This method for unlocking your phone works perfectly after Jelly Bean update on Rogers sgs3.

I was able to put a sim in from Bell and I was using that network perfectly. I tested making a call and sending a text message.

Works on Bell GS3 after 4.1.1 OTA
I also confirm this works after installing the Bell 4.1.1 OTA. This is likely due to the new modem version. Tested with a cut rogers sim.

Question. How do you know if your phone is unlocked? I tried this on Serenity 1.2 with LH9 modem installed and I was able to insert a SIM card that I used when I was overseas. Does that mean I'm unlocked?
Nvm, my international SIM picked up T-Mobile while roaming... even though I don't have roaming enabled ><

Tried this on my Rogers S3 and was able to verify it was unlocked with a Telus SIM.

I did it and I rebooted and got an Android is upgrading message during boot. Now have to find someone with a Tmobile sim to use

If your carrier is AT&T, i'd have to say that just going onto their web chat and asking the rep that you talk to if you could get the unlock code for your phone is probably the easier method. I did that about a month after i got my phone, on contract, telling them that i'd like to have my phone unlocked should something happen where i need to use the phone on another carrier. Didn't work with the first person i talked to, but the second person got me my unlock code.

basically anyone but Sprint and Verizon.

plus it nicely hikes up the resale value should you throw it on eBay for some reason or another....

So tried this with my i747M and got the "connection problem or invalid MMI code" error. Phone is stock 4.1.1 on Rogers.
Edit: Figured out my issue, wasn't entering the * before the #197328640# code.
Looked like it worked fine for me, but don't have a sim card to test it with right now.

Seemed to work
The instructions completed without issue on Rogers galaxy s3 i747m 4.1.1 jellybean. I do not have a sim card to test the unlock with however, but lte and all other systems seem to be working.

has anyone tried this the other way around? I just followed the steps on my tmobile s3 but I can't verify since I don't have an att sim.

worked perfectly for me on bell , and I tested a telus sim and it worked perfectly!

Confirming that it works. Also, it's not that difficult. I did it in about 5 minutes.

Hello everybody, I am currently planning on coming to Tmobile from Att and I have a unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3 from ATT. I know it will work in terms of service, but my question is when I come to flash roms, would I flash them from the Tmobile section of XDA? Or the ATT section of XDA?
The phone originally being ATT with Tmobile Sim card was really throwing me off and I didn't want to do any thing stupid.

After inserting a Tmobile sim card into your UNLOCKED phone you will be able to flash
any of the roms here in the Tmobile thread as well as in the AT&T thread.
If you flash a AT&T rom the only thing you need to do to make it work properly is to
change the APN (Access Point settings) in the phone to be "T-Mobile US".
The phone can do that automatically by going into:
Settings>more settings>mobile networks>Network operators>Select automatically and select "select automatically"
and it will find that you have a Tmobile sim and it will change the apn to reflect that.
The phone will work just fine either way, however there is one main difference between
the roms found in the AT&T thread and this Tmobile thread.
The difference is when using Tmobile roms which are not ported from other carriers you
will have built-in wifi calling as an option when using the Tmobile roms.
Other than that you will not notice much of any difference at all.

I bought a new SS S3 and ordered it for Tmobil network, but instead recieved a ATT phone...

Everything works fine, and its not unlocked that I know of, but the whole reason I bought the phone was to use the wifi calling option of T-mobil, this att phone doesnt have that option.
Am I screwed? Should I send it back for a t-mobil phone or is there a simple way to update this phone to T-mobil and get the option of wifi calling from T-mobil.?

When you are flashing any custom roms after you get your Tmobile sim chip you should flash the
Tmobile Touchwiz Jellybean 4.1.2 custom roms for the very best results.
If you do flash an AT&T cwm/twrp flashable custom rom you will find that even though the phone will
work fine you will loose the free Wifi calling feature in the phone if it's not flashed with a tmobile rom.
Flashing the official Odin flash Tmobile firmware on an AT&T phone even if it's unlocked and rooted will
cause the phone not to be able to make or receive any phone calls.
The reason for this is that all the official Tmobile Samsung Odin flash firmware contain a modem/radio image which
is not compatible with an AT&T phone even if it's unlocked and rooted but none of the Tmobile or AT&T CWM/TWRP
flashable stock or custom roms contain the modem/radio image file which means you can flash them without any issues.

As far as just joining to trade phones, I am genuine. I read the forums regularly and finally joined. This forum helped me to unlock my T-Mobile galaxy s3. However, using the tmobile phone, I can't run the update, as the unlock does not hold after and my AT&T sim no longer works.
That's my reasoning for wanting to trade for an AT&T galaxy s3.

Just curious, what do you mean the unlock doesn't hold? Once unlocked it should remain so whether you flash a rom, firmware, mod, etc.

Well I had to flash back to stock rom to unlock the phone. I have avoided running the network update, guess was afraid that it wouldn't work. I really didn't want to have to flash it again and have to unlock it and be back where I started. So it should be fine to update, should cause no issues amd run fine with AT&T sim still?

Alright. I will go ahead and run the network update then. The notification doesn't go away. It is annoying!
Haha. I'll post back. I'd rather not have to trade if it works fine. Other than the annoying notification, the phone operates wonderfully.

If i flash the tmobile s3 rom on my att s3 will i get the 1700mhz band? I thought an att s3 on tmobile will only get 2g/edge service. Please let me know if someone knows.
