Is the official release the same version of ek02 that was pulled from your phone or has it been updated?

No, it is the source code, not the compiled ROM. Can't pull the modem either, need to wait for the full Odin flashable tar, which we will get after the ota is released.

Glad it's being released. Saw it this morning, too. But, more than it being released, I'm excited about seeing that the XDA dev teams will now be working on it to upgrade their existing kernels and ROMS with the tweaks from EK02.

Why bother? why not just download any of the pre-rooted versions of this and save yourself the time.
Sad you just got your notice, others got it weeks ago.
You're probably going to root again anyway, so why not use the one click ff18 that's already rooted? also, you didn't have to wait for the ota, you could've had this weeks ago. The ota and ff18 leak have been verified to be exactly the same release

Yeah I didnt know that the leaked FF18 would end up being the official release.
Rooting was no big deal. I've already rooted, and replaced the kernel on the OTA update.
Anyone know of a good rom that has fixed all of the issues with the OEM ICS?

This is def not final. Still stuff wrong. Minor. Ota will probably be early October. We will probably see 5-6 more leaks before then.

I agrer. I still think its pretty likely we will see another official ics update first anyways. Then the eventual jb will patch that. Why else would there be ics leaks and latest jb leak was originally a patch to LI5?

I dont think there will be any more ics leaks. I think lh2 will be the final and jb ota will go over that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
That is highly possible. Could go either way at this point (imo). Just seemed they were testing patching to LI5 and I couldnt think of any other reason for that. I've been using my own version of LI5 as my daily (cept for jb leaks of course) and I've found it nearly flawless.
In the end it really doesnt matter though, as long as we get a good strong jb and they make the full fw available!

Signs pointing to yes. Also supposed to patch the Exynos exploit.
Now that I rendered it safe I'm compiling it. Anyone on ICS want to test if it goes through?
So from FL16 to 24 they went back to ICS? That seems odd. Any news on reason this isn't jb?

No one is going back.. Sprint/Sammy are working on ICA and JB together. FL24 is ICS and FL27 is JB. There are newer JB rdfs than FL27 too.

2 reasons: Faster to fix Exynos exploit and they needed a stepping stone apparently to get to JB properly.
Any takers on kernel tests? It's pure stock but should have Agat's recovery.
(You need to be on ICS to test this!)

As we all know, the MD4 source was released. Here we can talk about it. When did you receive the update? If you have it, how does it run? What do you think of it? Discuss below.
I know this is early, but people receive the updates quicker than others. Tell us when you got it!

I always force it by force stopping and clearing data of Google Services Framework non stop LOL. some times you get it first try sometimes you need to abuse it but eventually it will pick up the OTA. Trust me I've been doing it that way for a few years. (Note: It can mess up Google Service and cause misbehavior after updating you might need to remove and re add Google account to fix the play store issue. If that doesn't work you better perform a Factory Reset to fix misbehavior of google services.)

No. Source code is not the same as executable code. Do not try to flash the source to your phone.
Source code is used primarily to write custom kernels by developers.

Not if you're on MC3. If you're on MB1 you will get prompted but if you are rooted and made any system level changes the update will fail. What most people (on XDA) will need is the "no data wipe" Odin, or a CWM zip to update.
Generally speaking people using the official OTA updates are not XDA users. I would not expect any MC3 roms to ever offer the update which is fine because to get on MC3 you had to manually flash it so you already have the skills to manually flash MD4 when it drops.
