Does anyone else has this problem?
My GN won't play lock/unlock screen sound even "Screen Lock Sound" is checked.
My GN won't play Keypress sound even "Sound On Keypress" is checked.
Anyone has any idea what would be the cause..?
I have looked in /system/media/ui and all the sound files are there. It just won't activate the sound. Is there any step I have to do first to make it play sound?
bump bump bump
Have you turned down the system settings sounds? They can be turned down individually from the global ringer sounds I believe.

I dont understand what you mean by that? I check volume option in settings and all 3 of them are at MAX
I just received my GN yesterday and I have the exact same problem...
Plus, I don't have any system volume in the sound settings...
Only:
-Music, vids etc...
-Ringtones & notifications
-Alarm...
Does anyone has the same issue?
Sorry for my english though.

Nope you're not.
Use an app to access it, e.g. audioguru (free).

WOW.. that is just wow. Install Audioguru and BAM! My system volume is 1 >.> now change to max and I have all those sounds WOOOOT!!1!!!111!!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
BTW, If I never use Audioguru before so that means I wont be able to access to system volume then how on earth system volume is set down to "1" in the first place? Or "1" is default volume?
WTF!!! Really. So that is a known bug?

No idea. I can't remember ever having direct system volume access in any of my previous 4 Android phones. It's more a minor inconvenience rather than a bug IMHO.
I noticed this issue last week, no one seemed to care: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371922
same issue:
all the sound went ok until i installed chainfire3d driver yesterday. I then loss both my lock/unlock sound and touch sound.
i am happy to find a solution this thread.
thanks guys.

Audible touch tones just stopped working.
This morning when i used dial pad i've noticed that there is only vibrating without any sound...
I checked in sound settings and there is everything as it should be.
Is there any known solution for this, except master reset...
Thanks...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Ok, so i've managed to solve this...
this has happened when i pulled out my battery without turning off the phone 1st.
So i tried everything what came to my mind, like changing sound levels etc. manually.
Then another thing came across my mind..
pressed and hold power button, turned the phone to silent, then did this same and turned the silent mode off, and it worked...
Just to mention I've never before put phone to silent, and while audible touch tones weren't working, when i press some number in my dial pad, i could hear "something" on speakerphone, something like that action was made but melody was missing.
I was trying to find solution at google but without success, but i saw that there is a lot of people having the same issue, so i recommend to try this, what i've did...
cheers...
it not working for me, but i found solution,
download "audio manager" from market, you can see that, system volume is set to min/off
i set system volume to max and uninstall app, after phone restart tones still all right!

Thanks man, this had me worried thought my phone was stuffed but you were right the system noises were set to Zero. Thanks a bundle
So just 20 minutes ago my phone was working fine, and now I'm getting no haptic feedback nor does my phone vibrate for notifications or calls...
I tried rebooting the phone with no luck.
I disabled and then re enabled the haptic feedback.
Has this happened to anyone? Do you know of a fix?
Mine was doing the same thing. Only thing I could think of was a factory reset which did the job.... sorta. Calls vibrate now but notifications don't.

Hmm, not sure then. I'm still trying to figure out my lack of notification vibration so if I come across anything I'll let you know.

Mine does the same thing now: vibrates on calls & haptic feedback works, but not notifications when its on vibrate silent mode
Has anyone found a fix?
EDIT: found a fix
Download an app called Sound Manager from the market or any other app that lets you change all the sound settings.
Once in the app, hit menu and then vibrate settings. Change the notification from Don't Vibrate to something else. Wola!
I don't know why the messaging app lies and tells you that it changed the settings when it doesn't...

I had a similar problem, let me ask you this: Does the phone play any sounds on notifications when it's not vibrating?

I switched to ICS today and my messaging app stopped vibrating...I turned on all the vibrations in the sound menu in settings but nothing happened. Then I went to the messaging app's setting in messaging --> (menu) --> settings and scroll down to "vibrate" and choose "also vibrate when notified".
This will fix it

I'm not sure when it stopped but I don't have a lock sound. All other sounds are working, like the unlock sound.
My GSM GNex is on 4.0.3 and AOKP b27. I have Screen lock sounds checked in Settings > Sound
How can I fix this?

So your unlock sound is or isn't working?
Do you have a file named lock.ogg and unlock.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui?

Maybe try pulling the lock.ogg file from another ROM, replace it in that folder, and see if that works...?

I tried replacing it using root explorer but it said I can't because it's read only. I don't have access to the files when I use my Mac, I can only see what's on the internal sd card.

i don't know why google doesn't have system volume under sound settings
anyways OP download an app
search audio manager on the market (google play now)
hide it pro will come up, its actually an app that hides pics n stuff but also manages sound
once you download it open it
you will see system volume, you have to turn this one up for the lock sounds
also if your phone is on vibrate / silent, lock sound will not work (which makes sense cuz you don't want any sound out of it)
also make sure your lock screen sound is on in settings - sound
and there you have it
you can hear it lock and unlock

I'll try that out thanks
i think i figured it out
i was having the same problem you were having and found your post. you are no longer getting the "locking" sound when you hit the "power" button on your phone, but all other sounds are working, right? i think i figured out the solution/issue. let me know if this works for you:
it is because you have a "lock delay" on your phone via the settings/ROM control, and as such, the phone is not locking when the screen shuts off. hence, no lock sound when you hit the power, but everything else is working.
make the following changes and let me know if it fixes your problem. . . it fixed it for me at least:
1) go to "lock screen options" in the ROM control settings menu and uncheck "wait to lock screen."
and/or
2) go to "security" under the regular settings and "automatically lock" to immediate.
now when you lock your phone it will make the lock sound. if you are testing it by serially locking your phone, make sure you drag the circle over to unlock it before locking it. if you wake the screen and then press the power button it won't make the sound since i guess google is being very technical regarding what exactly qualifies for a lock.
this is my first post - not sure if i broke any rules, but i hope this helps you and anybody else with a galaxy nexus who became convinced that were was an AOKP software bug, but in actuality, it is normal function of the phone.
maguro (usa version) - aokp milestone 5.
Thank you avinashl :good:
I'm looking to do something very simple - just set the phone to silent without having to login past security? In my previous android phones, I can just press the volume down arrow until it's silent, even when I'm on the lockscreen. But this doesn't seem possible w/ the G4. volume up/down doesn't do anything on the lockscreen....
Anyone have any idea?
Have you considered using NFC tags to change the volume/mode?

I'd love to be able to do this as well. It's the one thing I envy of the iPhone, that simple little hardware switch for silent.

It's not really and Android vs iPhone thing btw. The Oneplus X has a hardware button, and also my other android phones typically let me use the volume button to silence my phone even in the lockscreen...

Actually before reading this, I decided to try it out. I have it set so that when I shake the phone, it turns to silent and gives vibration feedback. Works well, even when I'm on the lockscreen.
Thanks.
Hello i'm new to this forum and new to Samsung, so this is a question that i have that i have to ask because i can't seem to find a solution. I don't know if its a bug or not.
So when i bought the phone i set it up to fit me with various settings and changes, however one setting that can't be changed (or it changes itself back to default) is the notification settings for a specific app.
I use telegram and i get a notification from time to time. So i decided to mute the sound and to turn off the vibration from the notifications menu in the phone for that specific app. But the problem is that the settings stays like this for only 20 minutes and then it resets itself to default i tried to change it again and again and it keeps resting. I tried it changing it even in the app itself, but again i keep getting a sound and vibration notification.
What i'm doing wrong? Am i doing anything wrong at all? Or is it that the phone is buggy?
Try modifying "Sound and Notifications" inside Telegram instead of phone notification settings
