You should see that thread, they're explaining it very well.
I don't think you need to downgrade, just check that thread.
Please search and do your research before opening a new thread.

You can't have Sense with Gingerbread. Not out yet.
Hi All,
I have finally after a couple of years decided to move away from the Apple iPhone and buy an Android handset. As such I bought the Desire HD which I absolutely love however I wanted to debrand it using the latest software.
What I did was use the Goldcard technique to Downgrade my phone. I did this succesfully and debranded my phone, however what I realised was that I am now running a older (debranded) software.
Can anyone please assist me by providing with me some steps so that I can flash my phone again with the latest stock HTC Desire HD rom (debranded - is there a link?) or a very stable new ROM? I wouldnt mind version 2.3 if its available... I'm with Vodafone Australia and this is a Vodafone handset.
I have been told that the Goldcard method isn't the best way to do it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Please excuse my questions as I am very new and not very good with Linux. I am very technically minded so I can pick things up quickly but I need some guidance as I have no idea about half the stuff people talk about here....
If you want stock Desire HD rom, you can flash back the RUU (2.2 Froyo). If you like 2.3 Gingerbread, you can try Cyanogen Mod 7 custom rom.
But for the most stable & battery efficient , you can try android revolution hd rom, leedroid, core droid rom.
You can view the list of rom (and also step-by-step to flash it) at the development thread located here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I used this guide to downgrade my Desire HD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 - This debranded my phone which is what I wanted however I also realise it is not the latest build. Is this what you are you referring too when you say RUU 2.2 Froyo Rom?
If not, do you have a link to the one you are referring too?
That page you just linked to was for people who had the 1.72blahblah firmware, but wanted to downgrade to 1.32blahblah in order to root their phones.
The official firmware can be found on this page:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
...and the latest available firmware is this:
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe
thanks for that, now how do I flash this? I assume the same way I did it before?
With the stock RUU exes, you don't put them on your phone and flash via Clockwork (or whatever) like you do with custom ROMs. You run the exe from your PC with the phone connected via USB and HTC Sync.
There is a comprehensive guide somewhere on this site.

Have you even searched the forum in Desire HD development?
Try this, we inject clockwormod recovery without rooting first. Then you can use to install a new rom.

You have to downgrade first or use GingerBreak in order to root.
Basically, you can just follow this guide.

The title basically says it all.
I'm wondering if I can upgrade my HTC desire to gingerbread 2.3, but still be able to add custom ROMs and all the other freedom you get with a rooted phone.
Thanks
You can flash a gingerbread custom rom, yes. Just look in the desire development forum.
No, what I mean is the new HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade was released couple months ago.
I'm currently on Android 2.2 Froyo, but I'm wanting to update to gingerbread 2.3, but at the same time I want to be able to install custom ROMS.
Flashing an official release will unroot your phone and replace your recovery. There are many custom roms based on this release that if you flash will not unroot your phone or replace your recovery like the RUU said.
So like I said in my last post..
You can flash a gingerbread custom rom, yes. Just look in the desire development forum.
All this information is a basic requirement to being rooted. I am surprised you don't know this.
Ah, I see. Thank you
And yeah, I'm noob
Everyone is at some point

Hi,
I have HTC Desire HD mobile, with official HTC RUU ROM, I would like to root this device without losing this official release. Can anyone help Me in this?
As previous I installed other ROM, Revolution 7.1 , but My Camera Result was disturbed which I liked the most in DHD, so I revert it, and now I wanted root access in this Official Release,
as Ace kit is not working for this version, and force me to downgrade it first.
Advance thanks to you guys.
