Hi guys,
While posting a jpeg image to a forum (invision powerboard) the image attachment is usually attached and displayed as a jpeg in the post. This happens from any desktop web browser. Using my GN however, the jpeg attachment appears as an attached file link like this.
"Attached file (Number of downloads: 0)
jpeg1.jpg"
I did some experimenting and discovered that if I attach the jpeg using ASTRO as the browser to choose the jpeg on my phone, it attaches as per normal in the post. If I use the GN Gallery app to choose out the attachment jpeg it attaches as a file.
Why is this happening? It worked fine on android 2.3.3. It seems like the gallery is sending the file to the board as a "file" and not as a "jpeg file".
Any ideas?
[[[[Using ASTRO is fine, but you cannot browse thumbnails and need to know the name of the image you wish to post.]]]]
Edit: Scratch that last line on Astro. It shows thumbnails so is a perfect workaround until the Gallery App issue is fixed. I'm guessing its a gallery app issue as it worked fine in Android 2.3.3. and Astro works fine as an alternative.
Should I report that issue somewhere?

Is there anyway to open quickpic from within the camera? I use some version of barebonss rom and in this gallery Is not installed. I don't like that also. Is there anyway of making the quickpic to open from the camera application? O is there any better application? I mean any free one.

Barebones should already open QuickPic from camera. It didn't in some build, but it got fixed in the next version. If you don't want to upgrade, you can install BlurGalleryHack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13368495&postcount=598 You need to manually push it to /system/app and set permissions appropriately.
I used quickpic on barebones and the thumbnail displayed in the camera - the one from the latest picture, used to open quickpic just fine, but unfortunately the folder view and not the full picture view as I had hoped.
I am currently using barebones for CM7 and I still use quickpic and now in CM7 it works how it should.
Currently i am running CM9 final 8/10 and experiencing a problem deleting photos using the gallery app.
1. Set camera Storage: SD Card.
2. Take picture.
3. Open Gallery, delete picture taken in step 2.
4. Using Solid Explorer (or similar) navigate to /sdcard/DCIM/Camera-- picture taken in step 2 is still there.
In fact, after a reboot the picture will re-appear in Gallery. It seems that Gallery is deleting the photo from the media index, but not the actual photo on the SD Card.
Quick Google search brings up similar issues on other devices but no solution. Can someone confirm this issue, and maybe help resolve?

i am having some serious problems with the built in gallery app. i have few folders with over 300 pics in them. everything is nice and smooth until im trying to open some of the last pics in the folder. i tap on it...it opens all blurry, hangs for about 3-4 seconds then it's ok....if i swype to the next on same thing.....3-4 seconds on each pic. if i open pics from the begging of the folder or in folders with fewer pics they work perfectly fine. i have tried different sdhc cards, hard reset. the only way this works is with other gallyer app like gallery ics or any other gallery app or file manager that has built in viewer.
now....i dont know if its an issue with folders with alot of pics in it......or if its an issue with the built in gallery app not handeling some pics taken with other devices.
do u have this issue?
Could those pics be of a higher resolution than the rest? It takes awhile for the higher res pics to load.
When I take a picture in Android 7.0 using the stock camera app, it seem to create the jpg file in DCIM/Camera but it also creates an identically named folder, which is empty, in the same location.
For example, after taking a picture I will have:
/DCIM/Camera/IMG_20160829_182739.jpg
/DCIM/Camera/IMG_20160829_182739/
Does anyone know why or more importantly how to disable this?

After upgrade to the April 5 ,Android Q beta 2 update, the camera folder suddenly disappeared altogether from Google photos!!
The photos are still there on the device if I go to a file manager but are not appearing in Google photos, the whole camera folder (and all other on device photos) is gone.
I downloaded another gallery app to test and the on device photos appear in some and not in others, wherever they do appear the photo file size appears as 0 bytes in the gallery ,even though file manager shows they are 3-4 mb.
Anybody else who experienced this and any way to resolve this ?
Cheers
I just noticed the same bug. When I take a photo and click on the image, the camera app crashes and google photos does not recognize the new pictures. They are viewable in the file manager.
I cannot replicate this bug on my device.
I found the fix. You have to re-enable permissions to photos & videos for the camera apk and google photos apk. The update must have broken the permissions.
