Is it me or what? I see everybody talking about Gingerbread roms, saying the're fast and smooth, etc. But after flashing like 15 different roms from different builds I always find they lag or leak too much RAM. I always go back to SRF 1.2. Can anyone give me details?

I'm running the mostly stock ROM and it's silky smooth for me. Outstanding battery life. unplugged for 12 hours and I've still got 70%
Couldn't be happier.

CM7 is my current daily driver, as long as you can live without being able to dial 911 and can live without 4g (both not really a concern for me)
My other choices that worked very well is ACS ICS 5.5, Marcusant Revival v1 and Urban Precision. All very snappy when combined with the latest Samurai Kernel.
Are you doing a full wipe before flashing? Also, rumor has it, wiping your SD card and reformatting it has been very helpful as well, although, I have yet to have the need to do that.
Don't know what you mean. I have never found evidence of any RAM leak. Check the task killer of Memory Booster Lite to see all the garbage using your memory. Add to that programs filling caches and not giving that back when closed and I always have 170MB free RAM. I have no lag on Legendary.

I've had pretty good luck with the SensiSimple
I'm using Advance Task Killer. I've read many times that it is no good for froyo and gingerbread but it has always made my phone faster.
At first I have like 135mb free approx. But after 1 hour of use it goes down to 95mb or less and never go back. And yes, I always wipe all data, cache and davlik cache 3 times before installing any ROM.

If you use the browser it caches all your pages and stores them in memory. I have found that an hour or so later it gives back some of that memory but not all of it. ATK is not made for GB. Get Memory Booster Lite and see where that 40MB is going. There are no "leaks" just poorly written apps.

I'll try that and report back. Thanks guys!!!

Well, I tried SleeperROM and Revival(for the 2nd time) and insted of ATK I used Memory Booster. I had a better experience than before but SRF1.2 smoothness and battery life is still better. What's the difference? Just CRT ON/OFF and overscroll? Thanks anyway guys!!!

Gingerbread incorporates video acceleration to utilize the hardware better for one thing.
I'm running Thunderhawk 3.2 with ShadowKernel and my phone is the best it has ever been. Battery life is 24h+ with 3h screen on time (stock battery), and is very responsive.
I am running Supercharger Update9 RC4 Super 768hp with the home locked in memory (no redraws), this is not great for multi-tasking, but it ensures that my phone will be as responsive as possible every time I pick it up.
I am also undervolting using Tegrak as my phone will undervolt far more using Tegrak compared to Voltage Control which results in better battery life.
When set up right GB can be far more responsive than Froyo could ever be, and that has a lot to do with the GPU acceleration some parts of the UI takes advantage of.

oops noob double post
I just posted the latest update to my rom.
Here's some battery stats I've achieved on it.
When in my pocket, my phone loses under 1% an an hour. It does phenomenally well when I'm using it heavily.
don't know if this is right thread to ask, but with some builds I have the option in the add email account, to select corporate email. Right know I'm on cm7 and have the option but thinking of going back to legendary. Wondering if there is a apk or some way of getting that as a add on, this is the only wat i have gotten my work email to work on my phone...thanks
The latest MTD MarcusantROM is my goto ROM now.

I just rooted my incredible and I'm using the kernel that came with it stock. I disabled perflock and I left the max speed to 998 and the min speed to 245.
When I'm not doing anything on my incredible, I see that the speed constantly changes from the max to the min. Not even one second passes before it just goes back and forth, back and forth. Is this normal?
Coming from the d1 where it would stay at the min when idle, I'm not sure if what's going on with my incredible is normal.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes that's normal. For better battery life, I'd try a kernel with smartass governor. It spends more time on the lower frequencies.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Switching to a different kernel will give you the ability to overlook//underfoot the system needed.. this in turn increases battery life.. kingklick, ziggy's, chad's kernel are all well known kernels.. you will want to play with different kernels.. not every kernel will be stable to overlook to certain speeds on certain Rom's.. switching kernels is almost as addictive as switching roms.. always nandroid before flashing anything..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Typos on my end.. underfoot = undervolt.. overlook = overlook.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Will those kernels work on my rooted stock incredible?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea! By stock i'm assuming all you did was root. I am currently running SkyRaider 3.5 Sense along with
"2.6.32.26-ubcredujuerbek-12082010 [email protected] #11"
I will edit with links to these two items.
SkyRaider 3.5 Sense - SkyRaider
Chad's Kernel - Incredikernel
My phone runs amazingly fast with sense but yet, even with heavy usage (Texting constantly, on the internet, gmail, even Fring) I can go an easy 24 hours on one charge. If my phone stays screen-off idle I could last at 95%-100% for several hours.
Yes, all I did was root.
Does the chad kernel provide wireless tether and will i still need to disable perflock in setcpu?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
the non stock kernels all disable perflock already, you do not need to do it..
flash the kernel via clockwork, and you are set.. jump into setcpu and adjust some settings and add profiles.. you'll be golden..

Not quite. I believe Lou's has some tweaks within perflock, so disabling it would lose those.
And most kernel devs, particularly Lou and the ones who use HAVS, advise against using SetCPU. I'd check with your chosen kernel thread for details.

Also, I wouldn't 'set on boot', at least till you find frequencies that your phone can handle safely. Otherwise, you'll get a 'crash' loop, where your phone starts up just fine, but once you go past the initial lockscreen it'll crash and reboot. Very annoying...

what rager said... ive put on kernels and ran em high only to get a "boot loop".. its tuff to get out of cause you need to get back into setcpu to scale back otherwise it keep on going.... i learned to put the setcpu app icon on my main screen so i can get there fast to scale back..

Ok so today I noticed I had my phone on but screen off for about 6 hours only dropped about 15 percent. But then I used my phone for about an hour surfing/texting/XDA and it dropped almost 20% in just an hour? Idk this could be normal just seems like a lot for just an hour. How much do you guys lose with an hour of the screen on?
Also I do have setcpu to the lowest setting when screen off, but even when its screens on its not overclocked and is set to conservative. And I'm running miui..
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would turn off set cpu and let it stablize and check.
Well of course you are going to use up more battery when you are actually using the phone than when it's just sitting idle.
Think of it this way..... if your car is just sitting and idling, it barely uses any gas. If you are driving, it uses more gas.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G with Tapatalk
What build of MIUI are you running? There is no reason why you should lose 15% in 6 hours if the phone is just idle. I'm on 1.1.28 with the prepackaged kernel, not using any screen off profiles with setCPU and mine loses 0-1% over the course of say 8 hours if the phone is not used.

It's worth a shot, just make sure to do a full wipe, run calk's format all script before flashing. I'm skipping 1.2.4, probably going to wait for a significant release before I update, 1.1.28 has been the best of all of them for me. And my theme manager works just fine with 1.1.28.

Here. It formats everything (boot, cache, data and system partitions), good to use before you flash a new ROM, gives you a nice clean install. Flash it from recovery and then flash your ROM right after.
Nvm....tired
i second that.... i lost 0 percent in a hour and a half and i sent like 10 texts.
you could also try (after using the formatALL.zip) calibrating the battery. I drain the battery all the way then I charge it all the way to 100% and then go to recovery and wipe battery stats and then I use the phone normally and drain it completely. I usually do that whenever I flash a new kernel. Right now I'm using one of the stable savaged-zen kernels and I average about 20-24 hours of use with moderate-heavy use.

Where are the results from the launcher test and which launcher won?
Zeam won, with LP and ADW a close second (all 3 very good on memory/cpu/battery life) circle launcher , GO launcher (memory hog when using widgets, not so bad when not using widgets) and L7 came in last... There is a new one, Wave launcher,Ill test that soon. These rusults were never published, this was to see what I wanted to put in the ROM I'm building; ADW won,but I'm running into trouble getting that to be stable when installed from the start on the ROM,so its LP for now...
I really like L7 also,it is to bad about the problems it currently has,but Ill revisit it in about a month,I paid for it.

Is anyone else having terrible battery life with ICS? I'm using Calkulin's ROM with FD26, and my phone is already at 50% after 5 hours of being on. No phone calls, screen was barely on, and no browsing. It would usually be at 85-90% on the UnNamed gingerbread ROM. The battery stats say android OS is using the majority of it, and it's making the phone hot as well. Anyone else have this issue? Is it time to go back to gingerbread?
I am havig the exact same issue, fast drain and Android OS being at the top of the list. I haven't got a reply as of yet in other posts so IDK....
If your phone is getting hot then there's probably an app eating up cpu cycles and keeping the phone from deep sleep.
Use an app like system panel to see what app is misbehaving.
Try a few things.. I fell aslee with..umm... A.very family friendly website on and it stayed on all night. I ended up gaining battery somehow... Not really gaining but it was around 45 when i slept. But my settings are so tweaked...

If you are using Calk's FD26, then it's trying to use 'conservative' cpu governor but it's not supported on Stock ICS. Backup his CPU tweak init.d script and try modified version in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625299
Hopefully, I expect coming FE07 has more CPU governors that will give us more power saving options.

I don't do anything special really. If you are starting from a stock ROM, delete Sprint bloat (I do keep Sprint TV and VVM) and delete Social Hub and the 4 apks tied to it. Replace those with inverted Facebook and Twitter if you use them. Actually use as many inverted apps as possible. Turn off auto brightness and control it by swiping across status bar. The more time on wifi the better obviously. Kobridge and I have discovered that leaving wifi on even when not connected actually helps. Ummm....not many widgets helps. I always have a minimal homescreen. Also dark wallpapers with only a little color is good too. Black ones are best. That's a good start. Let me think if I do anything else but for the most part that's all I do. Watch out for rogue apps running in the background. Oh yeah...delete Maps and only install when you need it. One app running in the background can ruin your whole setup. Monitor that with Better Battery Stats

I got my auto brightness/4g on most of the time and also is there anyway to get back the swype keyboard because the keyboard that comes with this ROM is crappy. I tried the swype beta and it doesn't seem to let me install. It says "problem parsing the package"

Plus the bloater doesn't seem to turn on for me .. It lists my T-Mobile SGS2 and everything .. but when i click on it.. nothing pops up and says XML ERROR or something.

I'm a pretty heavy user and get about 19 hours on a bad day until I hit 10% on good day it'll go 24 hours + Running beast mod 4.2 and set cpu under clocked 756 max 384 min governor on lagfree and using juice defender. Runs super smooth too.

Okay, so i just installed JUgg rom for the first time on my phone.. hoping that it will increase my battery life and everything. But it seems the same to me ..The battery is still dying quick as usual. I got my auto brightness/4g on most of the time and also is there anyway to get back the swype keyboard because the keyboard that comes with this ROM is crappy. I tried the swype beta and it doesn't seem to let me install. It says "problem parsing the package"
So like ... what can i do? I uninstalled all the progarms i don't need off Tita Backup.
Plus the bloater doesn't seem to turn on for me .. It lists my T-Mobile SGS2 and everything .. but when i click on it.. nothing pops up and says XML ERROR or something.

I was running jug with the synergy kernel and I was getting 16+ hours on a heavy use. That's why I stuck with it for about 4 months. But I couldn't help but flash aokp. I have 4 batteries so it doesn't matter to me anymore.

Synergy Kernel? How do you run jug with a kernel ? Instructions please
If I'm not mistaken, Juggs is more about power. I could get 15 hours+ out of it on a normal use day but if I played games quite a bit or stayed on wifi for long periods it would go under 10 hours on a full charge. I'd say, if it's battery you're looking for, Juggs isn't for you. It's a great ROM but again, it's more about making your phone powerful and less about conserving the batt.
Go to the android development section and look for a thread that says synergy kernel. You are going to download it and just how you installed jug through cwm you'll do the same with the kernel. Before hand wipe cache and dalvik cache which you find under advanced. Then flash the kernel. Then wipe both caches again and reboot.

No it doesn't. Let me know how the battery is. Clear ram every once in a while. Pm me if anything.
