I like the clock app from my "old" SGS2.
It has alarm, world clock, stop watch and timer in one app.
Does anyone know if i have a chance to get it running on my Galaxy Nexus? Or does it require Touchwiz?
I tried copying ClockPackage.apk from an SGS2 ROM and an Galaxy Note ROM (because this one should be optimized for Galaxy Nexus resolution) to /system/app/ and match permissions. Also tried clearing cache and dalvik cache und remove the original DeskClockGoogle.apk.
Unfortunately Samsung Clock App does not appear in the app drawer.
I'm using Pauls deodexed Ir4 ROM.
Any ideas?

hopefully can see this apk soon...

Did you change permissions. That may work.

It probably requires custom Samsung framework, aka TouchWiz.

Yeah, maybe it requeires Touchwiz. But if this would be case shouldn't it at least appear in the app drawer?
Would be nice if a Dev could have a look at the apks and tell us if it really need Touchwiz or not.
Has anyone else tried to get it running?
Yes, I would love to see that clock too! It reminds me one I had on HTC phone (part of Sense).
Now I have to use separate stopwatch when boiling eggs which is not great.
It's amazing there is no all in one clock app in the Market yet, like the one we had on SGS2 phones.
i can already tell you it is indeed TouchWiz dependent.
and i agree, Google needs to do more work on their widgets, specifically the clock. there should be a copious amount of options imo, including digital, font/color changing, as well as a timer, stopwatch and world clock.
still lots of stuff they can add. they're getting there, just slowly
Very bad news, but thanks for clearing it up, mrvirginia.
If someone can modify it to work without TW or knows a similar app, please let me know.
Would like to see it too. Clean and simply GUI with all things necessary! Nearly
I love that clock, specially the smart alarm that gently wakes me up. I would like to have it working on CM9. I'm trying and if I get it I'll let u know. But if someone achieve this pls let us know!!
Google should even link the calendar and tasks in someway to the clock when setting alarms. But at least a smart alarm with nice sounds and widget with custom options at least to contrast background.
There is a new effort to port touchwiz to ICS. I am trying to determine how to get the clockpackage.apk to install on it. I am using a captivate rom with the port backed in.

Yeah, the clock on my SGS2 was just great. I've had to roll with multiple other apps just to take the place of that original clock
I also miss my day/night/weather Wind Mill live wallpaper.that was the best.

I'm suffering the same problem as well. I contacted the samsung apps, but no one replies.
that wallpaper is really amazing
help please
some dev can port it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
yes the ace users also want this live wallpaper .... so we r with u
+1. Me too !
I have an evo shift, and I loved this wallpaper as well when I had android 2.2. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to 2.3.3 it stopped working, same force close error. I read somewhere else that this is because the libraries that this wallpaper uses are incompatible with android 2.3.... Also, because I am not a developer and know nothing about programming these things, I have no idea what that means or how to fix it. I'm hoping that somebody can get this wallpaper working on 2.3 soon, because it is beautiful and I would love to be able to use it again.
Great substitute for Ovean Waves live wallpaper
Since I haven't been able to find a working version either, I came up with a substitute.
Install Touch Ripples from app market. Be sure to get the paid app so you can change the background picture.
Set ocean waves.jpg (attached) as background within the wallpaper app. Move the size sliders (at top) all the way to the right for the best picture.
You'll want to play with the settings to get the ripples just right. At least we can have a look-a-like until samsung updates the wallpaper app.
+1 for ocean waves
This is the best live wallpaper
It rocks very very nice wallpaper, thanks!

I miss those wallpapers too!
Ive loved the Samsung LWP since the original Galaxy S...essentially the issue with many of these ported Samsung LWP is that they do not work at all on 2.3 and will only work with 2.2. I have tried several ways to try to install them however as far as I know looking at other threads regarding to these LWP is that the Samsung LWP was relatively integrated into their framework, in part with TouchWiz, therefore cannot be ported easily. HTC Sense is also relatively the same with only one that I know of which works perfect with 2.3 but requires relative changes to the root of the phone (does not work on Samsung but worked on all other HTCs). All the others FC unfortunately.
Koi free live wallpaper is equally good and its free.
Nice water effect.

Hello Guys,
This can be worked in ODEXED build roms only. The name of Wallpaper is "Secretwallpaper1.apk" with a odex file(I have renamed to .txt, please rename to .odex extn). Find the attached file & push both files in /System/app with rights of -rw-r--r--. then reboot.
If anyone can Deodexed the apk then it will be wonderful.
Hope it will work.
So I downloaded this and I've never used Beautiful Widgets before, so this was my first. I found a very nice skin "Ice Cream Sandwich" by Tama-Chan.
I go to Settings as I'm not sure if you can change something, and when I go into General, it just Force Closes everytime. I un-installed and installed again and it's still FC'ing.
Also, is it possible to edit an existing skin? I just want to get rid of two black boxes surrounding the clock and the blue border, but I'm not sure you can. I have googled as much as I can and I can't find anything.
Any guidance would be very helpful, thanks in advance
What version you on for ICS and BW? BW had a update just a little bit ago and not sure if that fixed what you are having issues with or not as I already updated. I did install the skin you have and I was able to get to the settings no problem and no FC at all. I am running 41D for ICS.
Well it was pretty recent as I snapped it up during the 10p sale. I'm using the standard ICS no custom ROMS flashed or anything. Do you think I should uninstall and install again? Or does that mean I have to pay again? I'm such an Android noob lol...this is my first true Android phone

You don't have to pay again once you've purchased it!
The app however was updated either today or last night, so go to the market and update it! It fixed all of the crashing problems for me
Thanks a lot! The update fixed my problems

It is possible to modify the skins. Go to /sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets. The sub folders will be like: tskins (toggle skins), wskins (weather skins) etc. Those folders contain the image(s) for the skins

If I can reuse this thread. Does anyone know how to stop the temperature displaying in the notification area?
I already have the Accuweather app doing this (with a bigger better version)
I've turned off notifications in the widget but its still there?

Anyone know what to do to change the carrier label? Make it custom? I know some roms have this feature!

AOKP has the feature. Under Settings, ROM Control, General UI. I'm sure there is an APK for doing it on rooted phones in the market.

If you have a rooted device an app called Root Tools works great. Under the option Goodie Add-Ons --> Pull down Editor you can change it to anything you'd like. It will require a quick reboot but that's it. This app also has other neat options also like quickly changing boot animations. Hopefully this helps. And by the way this works with any Rom as long as like I said before the device is rooted.
Reset to default
Does anyone knows how to reset the carrier label to the default one on AOKP? I changed it and i don't know how to go back.
Thank you.
In aokp settings it says you need to wipe data.
Hi all,
I just had two questions relating to the Galaxy Nexus which I bought a couple of days ago
1. When I receive a text or email, on my old Galaxys S2 it used to have a number next to the icon. For example if two people had text me, the number two would show up next to the text message icon informing me. This doesn't appear to be happening on my Galaxy Nexus. Is that normal?
2. One of my favourite widgets on the Galaxy S2 was the Mini Paper widget. I've got the .APK for it, but it doesn't seem to install on the Galaxy Nexus. Does anyone know how this widget can be installed?
Hope someone can help me out
1. That is part of touchwiz, the Samsung equivalent of Sense on HTC devices. The Galaxy Nexus is a pure Google experience device, but you can find widgets on the Android Market that will give you badges for SMS/Email.
2. That APK might need the touchwiz framework to work, no idea though.

Regarding the first question, I just wanted to make sure that this was universal to all Galaxy Nexus' and not just mine LOL. Strange how this feature doesn't exist though as I thought it was very useful on my S2.
Regarding the second question, if anyone does know how to get the Mini Paper widget working on the Nexus Galaxy, please let me know
Regarding the Mini Paper widget, have you tried ColorNotes from the market? Not EXACTLY the same but gets the job done

I've tried ColorNotes but didn't really like it to be honest mate. The S2's Mini Paper
I feel is the best quick note taking widget out there. Everytime I try installing it, the process just fails
Surely there must be a way to make it work? It's only a small widget LOL

So it's not possible at all then to get this widget ported over to the Nexus?
I heard somewhere that Touchwiz widgets require the Touchwiz framework.
*cough*
The same goes for Sense widgets, Blur widgets, and any other manufacturer-UI widgets.
My first smartphone was an HTC Inspire (aka Desire). It has this great home screen flip clock widget I really miss. I want to put it on my Galaxy Note 10.
I know I can get flip clocks from the Play Store, but they are not as pleasing to look at and I don't want it enough to risk dealing with ads and phonehomeware. The old HTC widget is from HTC and is part of the manufacturer's native system app (no ads, YAY). I extracted the apk ok, but I'm reluctant to install it in my new phone because I almost bricked my Galaxy Note 4 trying to install downloaded Google phone apk. It locked up the phone and I had to do a system reset. It took me two days to get it all working like I want. I don't want to go through that again.
I believe the HTC Android version is 2.3 or 3.3. Is there a way to verify that this widget apk will work on the Note 10 besides installing it? Thanks in advance for any help.
I can not really help you, but, be advised of this: some really old apps cause troubles, as they were coded in a different way, some elements needed for their correct functioning might not even be present now, some older apps dont even install, or run,
Some other do install, and run, but eventually start doing odd things or freezing the device, this I have experimented with several good apps I liked from gingerbread and ice cream, even kitkat, so, better look for newer alternatives, imho

I use the free version of this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ock&pcampaignid=APPU_1_zcc-X4KlMsP6sAWnvYTYBQ
Low power consumption, very custom configurable plus has quad touch switches that you can assign apps too.
Adjustable size, colors, fonts, transparency and more.
Runs well with no data usage (adware) after being configured. I'm running Pie.
You can't get the clock widget off the old Desire as it is part of the HTC Sense home screen. You can only find something similar on the app store...
Sorry...
However, I use Beautiful widgets (paid app) and you can get quite a few flip clocks that look and feel like the old HTC's...

My understanding is that the flip clock widget is part of the HTC Clock app. I extracted the apk for that. I've not yet transferred the apk to my Note 10. I'd like to know if there's some way other than just installing to verify that it will not damage my Note 10.
Thanks, I checked out Beautiful Widgets. Even the paid version has full internet access, bluetooth, and near field communications. Why a clock widget would need that is beyond me. I'm concerned about security and unnecessary internet access, which is one reason why I'd prefer the old HTC widget. It also has the most captivating rendering of a classic flip clock that I've seen.
If anyone has a spare and sacrificial phone they don't mind resetting to factory specs if necessary, I'm willing to share the apk I extracted if you want to see if it works.

Lol, wanted lab rats. If your OS load is over 6 months old a refresh isn't a bad idea especially if you had a lot apps you uninstalled.
Be ready to do a factory reset at any time even though it's rarely neeeded it can happen.
After being force to do 2 back to back on my Note it's getting to be 2nd nature. Best load ever now.
That said it probably won't crash the OS and the worst that will happen is you'll be forced to uninstall it.
That happen with one or two of my Kitkat era apks.
Sometimes they will run ok.
