[Q] bluetooth audio quality bad - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Saw that phantomhacker was going to update his blazer rom to 2.3.6 in the near future. Will that fix the audio quality while playing music through Bluetooth? My evo audio quality using bluetooth was awful on my stock evo but when I switched to cyanogenmod 7.1 it was great. When I got the et4g it went back to crappy again. I think cyanogenmod uses 2.3.7 so thougt that might have something to do with it. Thanks

Really? Mine sounds incredible! I'm running Calkulins 1.5a using a jawbone headset. What exactly is it doing?

It just sounds very tinny. Especially cymbal splashes which is a lot. When I use the auxillary port it sounds great, but its just an extra wire in my car that I don't want. Like I said before I had the same problem with my evo so I think it has something to do with the older versions of gingerbread.

Quality improved for me.

Calkulins is 2.3.6 also. My interest is peaked. Crawrj I admire your work by the way, appreciate the input. Might just try calkulins rom until phantomhacker updates blazer from. It just runs so smooth for me.

No problem and thank you. I appreciate your support. I am not an audiophile but on eg30 my bluetooth headphones were not very loud and low quality. And like you said the hard wire was very loud and good. I used my bluetooth for the first time on ek02 last night on my roof while putting up christmas lights and was pleasantly surprised with the increase in volume and quality. But again I am not an audiophile so if you try it let me know what you think.

It has to do with the bitpool which controls the data bandwidth
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762526
Get a logcat when you connect with your device and look for the bitpool value, let us know.

Tried calkulins 2.3.6 and it was still awful. I'll post the logcat in a minute.

It does look like you are getting the higher bitrate in the second line(bitpool of 53) but the initial one was lower quality (32)
Any better luck?

Has anyone figured if either of those ROMs does in fact increase the Bitpool to the 53 setting?
Thanks!
Chad

I haven't had any Bluetooth problems on this phone. I have a Moto Finiti. My voice "answer or ignore" call works great as well as voice to text but my Bluetooth has "Motospeak" app on the Market that enhances functionality

It's not an issue with the BT not connecting, but rather the quality of the sound is the issue.

I'm having the same issue. The high frequencies sound terrible, even to the point of garbling. I've noticed it in my car (Kia Forte Koup SX) and with my LG Tone (HBS-700) headset.
When I was on pure unrooted stock, it didn't have this problem. It started after I flashed Calk's ROM? Anyone have suggestions?

I also have this same problem. Stock 2.2 and 2.3 I have no bluetooth problems but when rooted my recieving audio quality is bad. I have been told that the mic works fine and that I sound clear. I'm guessing something is getting compressed? I've also had a few roms on here, sfr 1.1 and 1.2, cm7, cleangb, miui with the same results. I use my phone all day every day and would love to be able to hear clearly. I have a plantronics voyager pro+ but I know that isn't a problem as it is very clear on a samsung captivate never rooted 2.2 froyo. I hate using anything stock but really want my bluetooth to sound better.

i'm in the same boat. running supernova ff18 v 1.2 rom. bluetooth stream is terrible on the phone, makes me want to go back to stock because i stream pandora to my car a couple of hours a day

I've been on Y for a few hours now, and GPS works fine for me. A few people have reported that GPS isn't working for them, but AOSP GPS always seems a bit flaky on some Evos. My own experience with it is that GPS works perfect though. Wireles Tether works fine on this ROM. I haven't been using the Wireless Tether app lately though, as the built in tethering feature works perfectly on 3g and 4g. find the native tethering under menu>settings>wireless & networks>tethering and portable hotspot. From there you can use wifi tether or USB tether, both work.
As far as known issues, I have 0 (so far, it's only been a few hours). The only bug that had been annoying was the phone going to the lock screen after hanging up a call, but that issue has been fixed in Y. Flash it and give it a shot.
Which would be the better deck rom to use? And what kernal? Im not sure how to do any of the gps fixes ive been hearing either, lol

I would use the latest build, which is 1.2y. Keep in mind that these are betas (although 99.9% stable and could be called stable, IMO) 1.2x and 1.2y both have the GPS fix incorporated into the build, so in theory GPS should work out of the box (it does for me). You *should'nt* need to do anything special to get GPS to work. As far as the kernel goes, every phone reacts a bit different with kernels, so it's kind of trial and error. I would suggest giving the CM kernel that comes with the ROM a try for a few days. It works extremely well on my phone. I also run Savaged Zen 2.2.1 CFS, and that performs well too. GodmodeV9 is a great 'no frills' kernel. It doesn't have sbc or havs, and is meant to be stable and have good performance, which it is and it does. Just give each kernel you try a few days to settle in before passing judgement on it. It takes a little bit of time to be able to tell how it's ultimately going to perform. Sometimes it makes a big difference by adjusting the governor settings too. Good luck
Hey keep this post in mind because ill come back here and post more questions... Thanks... Ive been flashing so many and im just tired. I know its basically a trial and error but that gets tiring. Thanks man...

[Q] EX4 and Voodooo Sound?

Im wondering, coming from the OG Epic, if anything is in the works for a kernel with EX4 and Voodoo sound support? Would the ET4G benefit from these kernel mods?
Im pretty sure the phone is ext4 stock... And vodoo sound idk..
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
The E4GT is ext4 stock.
I'm sure Voodoo support would be a welcome addition, since the E4GT has the same Yamaha DAC as the SGSII.
Good to know they ditched RFS.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'll be looking into this for a future kernel release
No voodoo sound I emailed supercurio, he will not work on the sgs2 because it uses a different audio chip (yamaha). He believes its not worth working on.

Does anyone know a comparable app for improved sound quality/bass boost?

Whats the best ROM if I just want to use the Inc as a car MP3 player? (no radio)

So I have my old DInc laying around, and I think I'm going to use it just as an mp3 player in my car via aux, and I was wondering what ROM you would recommend for that purpose?
I haven't been in the DInc scene in a long time so I don't know where to start. Battery life would be priority but with no radio use and a car charger don't even know if thats an issue.
What do you think?

Really any rom will do, but senseless roms are probably going to give you the best battery life. Really you could take any rom and just start stripping it down, deleting everything it will let you without messing things up, leaving only the bare essentials.

Not sure, i think a few roms had it half way working, but still not the real deal.
Yea an aosp-based ROM would probably be best in terms of battery, but if you're in your car, you probably have easy access to a charger so I wouldn't worry about the ROM too much.
Just install any ROM and use this script to kill all of the battery-sucking radios.
isnt beats audio just an equalizer? your stereo should have one of those xD

Factory stereo. Doesn't have any fancy eq features, but does have aux-in
I know the Inc didn't have Beats but I thought I did read it was ported over to some devices. I can definitely hear a difference with it on and off using my rezound, like i said. Just wondering though. I'll load up CM9 I guess soon as my microSD gets here.
Thanks for the tips guys!

so I'd flash this over CM7? Is that right?
I'd say Anthem is your best bet because it has battery life mods that help people get 20-50 hours on a single charge

Cm9 and cm 10

Can someone tell me why this is or if any one is having this issue.
So on gb el29 or any of the tw like the new ics 27 release the youtube quality is great on hd. But when i use cm9 or 10 while connected to 4g the video quality isnt that great and 3g its terrible. Is this something in the builds or am i doing something wrong.

lots of reports of poor 4g speeds (1mbps down or worse) on both cm9 and cm10. Kernel issues likely to blame, solution is to wait until its fixed or go back to gb.
Not sure why you are having 3g issues, I have had youtube work fine, in regular and hq, on 3g and wifi, in both cm9 and cm10. What modem are you on?

Oh no the speeds are great on both gb and ics but the quality in comparison is totally different. Gb its very smooth and clear. On ics aokp or cm the video is distorted. But if i do the ics version of tw the video quality is the same on gb. So it looks like it only happens on aosp roms. Not sure why and i kinda want to know.
Im on the latest modem the fi27 el29 was my best one but ever since that fiber cut issue it hasnt been the same:banghead:

Audio problem on jelly beam ROM.

I'm using liquid smooth beta 2 aoap jelly bean 4.2.1 rom and the audio on the ROM has problems when I make a call its low even in speaker I can barely here. Can this be fixed?

Its a known issue with all cm10, aosp, and AOKP ROMs.
However Task650 4.2.1 is now working perfectly fine. Audio is back to normal like stock touchwiz.

There was a recent fix not too long ago, but LS hasn't updated since before it was merged. Its fine on Rootbox, Task's AOKP and official CM10.1 nightlies for what I've heard

Bluetooth is broken on current AOKP 4.2 roms. Task650 has a test build that may help but no guarantees (and no support is being offered since it's a test build
