Are you sure, you closed the backplate ?
Sometimes it just seems so, but often it's not closed till the end.
After that you still have to restart, the Play doesn't like it to hot swap sim cards

I don't know what to do. I checked the similar threads to see I already tried most of them (factory reset, clean, reflash etc). The phone is unlocked and rooted (RCMix3D). I don't think the phone's SIM card reader is the problem though because when I put the SIM card in, the phone immediately gets a message saying "Unable to read SIM Card" so the phone knows that there's something there. When I reset it though, I get the "No SIM card in phone" error. I also can't go to the Mobile Network settings because they're greyed out. Does anyone know what to do?
By the way, the problem just came up out of nowhere. Never dropped it or anything like that.
Tried a different sim?

Default Re: "No Sim Card in Phone" Error
SIM card might be loose, put a small piece of paper or something thicker to lodge the SIM card in. That`s still not right though, call HTC for a replacement.
My advice try this..
How old is your SIM?
apperently if it is pre-2009 it's not always compatible with new phones (I base this info on no scientific evidence whatsoever )
A friend of mine got his desire S and he experienced the same problem. The carrier's helpdesk sent him a new SIM and now he is all troublefree! Might give your carrier a ring, maybe they're aware of this problem
Hey guys,
So I just got a used Note 2. When I picked it up, it was working fine. We then reset it and I tried my sim card and the no sim warning came up. Tried the sellers sim and same thing. I bought it anyway thinking that I could fiddle around with it. I've seen some other threads about this problem and most people suggest flashing a full Rom in ODIN, but there weren't ever any follow up posts to confirm if it worked.
I've tried flashing the emergency restore firmwares, but I still have this problem. I don't think the SIM contacts are damaged since I can see them and they look fine. Is there anything else you can suggest for me to do? Or am I stuck with a really small tablet that has no phone purposes?
It has not been blocked? Or maybe it's network locked?

You can try Azira27's patch, it helped me when I had a similar problem. For me it was saying "not registered on the network" when making a call.

I checked the IMEI, doesn't seem to be blocked or blacklisted. And if it were locked, it would ask me to input an unlock code, right?

I get that same error when I try to check mobile network settings. I'll definitely take a look at this, hopefully it helps! Thanks for that, I would never have found it.
I don't know much about how the EFS partition works, but it seems to play a role in the radio performance. Does anyone think my EFS partition is borked? I did try the full emergency firmware restore though...
Nope, the Azira patch doesn't do anything and neither my Rogers or my girlfriends sim card work. I'm starting to think the sim tray may be damaged, although the contacts are straight and present.
Try with a new sim card, your one is maybe too old.
Regards
Sorry guys, it is the sim tray. Two of the pins are slightly bent and broke off when I tried to fix them. Looks like I'm ordering a new sim tray since the seller is refusing to reply to my messages that he sold me a damaged phone. Oh well, it seems easy enough to replace.
I have an unrooted, purely stock GT-N5100.
I haven't put in the microSIM in its slot ever. I use it in airplane mode , only with Wi-Fi. But I have a problem where sometimes, it randomly detects that I have put in a SIM card( and it leaves me no option but to restart it). Then sometimes after detecting that, it detects that I have removed the SIM card and I again need to restart it. This gets really annoying and this time, it oscillated between the two cases as can be seen in the video below.

Now I don't have a SIM in the microSIM size, so I am Unable to really check by putting in a SIM card, there is nothing in the SIM slot, I checked by opening the flap.
Should I rush to the Samsung Service center to get it fixed? Any other Suggestions to fix it?

It got fixed automatically for me. Try putting in a SIM though
Has anyone else encountered this? I have the UK version (it supports all att bands). It randomly stops detecting the sim card, and I have to eject it and reinsert it for it to detect it again.
sounds like an issue with the phone man... Mine has been flawless. if i were u i would return it... or at least try a new sim card.
I tried changing the APN settings to see if that makes a difference at all

I second this. Sometimes you just get a faulty device. Just exchange it for a new one.
have you checked the SIM card, make sure its clean? Seated correctly? You can clean the contacts carefully with alcohol wipes
