AOSP or close to stock Gingerbread? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't like any of the roms I see and want to completely customize my own rom. Is there an up to date AOSP build for EI22 or an ext4 rom with no themes at all? And minimal tweaks? Some of the themes on these roms don't look very good. I'd also like a working version of allshare for Gingerbread. Thanks in advance.

Nope. You can grab the stock release mostly untouched that Noobnl packaged and work your own mods in and remove the bloat.

Does it work on ext4? And will flashing a kernel break things?

EXT4 is kernel dependent. No but the kernels here have a lot of mods in them.

The mods are fine, they'll actually save time in most cases, thanks.

[REQ][Theme] simply asop

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in extracting The Dub's Simply ASOP theme from his rom and make it available to the public.
FYI! He said in his thread he doesn't know how to make themes.

Porting roms to newer modems?

Is there a way to port let's say an ei22 rom to el30 or fc09? Would it have to be like strting all over and a lot of work or could it be as simple as porting a theme but with the xml files and other stuff??

Modem is independent of the ROM...

How about "Porting roms to newer builds"
And your answer would be no, rom developers spend a lot of time and effort working their tweaks and mods around samsungs latest attempts at fixing stuff.

Font or be fonted

So I'm running the peoples rom on my new epic (and it's amazing) but I was wanting to install a font from rom toolbox and was wondering if that would hurt anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Doesn't work on cm9 but any other rom will work just fine. You could just use font installer .

Modem (baseband) seems to be personal choice these days. As a habit I always go with the latest official but it is what works best for you.

Oh that makes sense so which one would be recommended for the peoples rom?

I always use the latest official so am currently on FC09 but have seen no change from when I was on the EL30. Either one can be odin'd in or put in through a series of flashables.
Ahhh ok sweet thanks man I appreciate your time very much

would you mind linking me to the shadow kernel? I can't find it in the dev section

If you are talking about the Stock FC09 deodexed ROM, it already has shadowkernel....I used that to root it.

AOSP JB KB on TW JB, not working???

So I was able to use the AOSP JB keyboard on an ICS TW based rom, but not the new JB TW based rom, any ideas without trying to go the logcat route?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Try downloading ICS keyboard from Play Store.
I want the app built in, not an app built to be like AOSP, thanks though.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Going to have to wait for a Dev to work it in to the ROM of your preference then unless you can add it yourself.
Wouldn't be hard.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
You try on Odexed or Deodexed?
Sent from my O=O
Try pulling the keyboard from freezas JB build . ( there were so many abbreviations in the title I think my brain literally farted a little )

I can add it, I always add things to a rom, then flash, I do this for several reasons. But I dont know if I could mod the apk to get it working. I just cant undersrand why a cm10 jb kb works on ICS Twiz, but not JB Twiz???
