titanium backup files in an apk - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does anyone know how to convert the titanium backup files in an apk.
I have an calc widget that I want install on another phone but this phone cannot b rooted.
I dont want to root this persons phone

I guess I would just restore the app onto your phone and make a copy of the apk that way. Then transfer it to their phone and install it.

Without being rooted, I'm not sure.
Does adb or Droid explorer work on a non rooted phone? If so, extract the calculator app out of the TB Backup and push it with ADB or batch install it with Droid Explorer

I think the problem lies in the fact that when one makes a titanium backup, the apk extension changes and it can only be restored using TB.

@thesssfactor,
Is your phone rooted? If I were you I'd restore the backup onto your phone. Navigate with a file explorer to /data/app and find and copy the apk that you restored. Then just copy it over to the other phone, or send it in an email or something. That way its an actual apk that can be installed on the nonrooted phone.
Also, you'll have to allow that other phone to install non-market apps. That option is in setting (I think its under the development option)

Nah I've taken apks from titanium backups and given them to others or used them in apk manager and tweaked them and reinstalled them. It just saves them in a weird format but u can extract that using 7zip and get the apk

Thanks smurf, I didn't know that.
I do most everything directly from my phone these days. (I'm a phonely person (phone only))
Thanks for the info

He's right. If you unzip the .zip file with the apk extension, the apps are in there and can be extracted.

Nice, I am going to have to try this out.
The reason why I posted this because i want to put the calc widget on my tablet but I refuse to doing extra for my boss (like rooting his tablet).
The reason why I am putting the calc widget on it, is because I use it for payroll.
I'll do an guide later on how to extract it help out our fellow users.

What I want to do, is change the color of the inside of the boxes behind the numbers to red, and leave the rims around them black/gray.
Is there anyway to edit the apk to do this? If so, could anoyne guide me through it? I would love help, because I think that that would just put my setup towards perfect for me.
well, usually what I do in this situation is first copy the apk to a working directory. Then extract the apk in the working directory, and look in one of the drawable folders for the image. Edit the image to your liking. Then when you are done, replace the original image inside the untouched apk you kept in your working directory. You should then be able to either push that apk back onto the phone, install it, or package it in the rom and reflash.

Ya know, I've been looking for the Apk file in my phone, and I have no idea where it's at (using sdk tools to search through my phone), because I was thinking just with common sense, that what you said would be the way to go about it.
here's the dev. site:
http://www.davidgoemans.com/mainsite/node/13
It looks like there's no apk to dload to the computer first... is there anyway you can help me with where to look on my phone for the file?
It is probably in /system/framework
Either com.htc.resources.apk
or
framework-res.apk
Well, I went ahead and found it, but, now it's not letting me install the apk for some reason. It's saiying that it's replacing the old digiclock even though I removed that one.
Here's the apk file I created. All I did was rename it to a zip, replace the files, and rename it back to apk.
Can anyone help?
Ok, I got it. I ended up getting the apk manager 4.8 from here, and it took seconds to run through that.
Here's the updated clock.

Hey, thanks!

[Q] Is there a way to make a zip so you can install all of your apps at once??

I was wondering if I could move all of my apps into a zip folder and install them I have a feeling my have tried this in the past and it failed. Is this even possible? If so is there something special I have to do? I really hate having to manually install apps, through titanium backup when ever I wipe my phone.

Help me salvage my Android Data :(

Hi everyone,
I had great success with the Android on Wave. Thanks to All the Devs and ShadowAS1 for the tut!
But Today, while I was transferring some files to it my PC gave a BSOD.
Then I crossed my fingers and started Android, it started but then shutdown so I hook it up to Ubuntu and see to my horror, the 'data' folder was missing!
So I 'checked' with Gparted and thankfully I managed to recover all the folders from 'Lost+Found'
but I am a bit stuck on where to put all the .apks I have recovered
(they are the apps that I had installed),
but what folder do they go in?(app-private?? or apps?)
and what Shall I name them??
Also I found that "data/apps/" folder originally contained 7 apps like Titanium Backup and SGS Toolbox and .etc. but those apps are nowhere to be found in the L+F folder...??
So I will really appreciate if any of you can help me with renaming and replacement of these apps..(please refer to your data folder )
Here are the apps that I had installed...

I have figured out which one is which...just tell me what to name then and where do I put them,
also can I just copy back the missing apps like preinstalled sgstools and titanium backup, etc?
Apps I had installed
PSX4DROID, NES. EMU, POWERAMP MP3,MOBO PLAYER, load monitor, Dolphin HD, ANGRY BIRDS RIO, Google Earth, Moon Reader Pro,SNES9X EX, Picsel Smart Office, ES file Manager,Musical Pro w/t piano,ROOT explorer, Wifi Explorer pro,
my other folders that I renamed..
Well I'm not 100% sure but i thought it differs per app.
The best thing you could do is intall every app seperatedly via ADB (cause copying the files to their folders wont install the apps)
I think this might be a pretty good idea how to do this: http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/google-android/articles/37151.aspx
thanks for the reply ShadowAS1!
I managed to install a couple of apps successfully by copying their settings folder name from "data/data" folder and adding a '-1.apk' next to it. but the diamond key is not working and wifi is showing 'unable to scan'...I thin I will just try once by checking with gparted or otherwise reinstall..

Yep I deleted all the stuff in the partition and recopied the files. but now it gets stuck at first B&W boot screen! I know If I format the whole card and repartition it will work just fine. But do you know any other way? cause it a P-I-A to recopy all my files in FAT32 Partition. Is there any particular folder that needs to be deleted from FAT32 partition so I can just recopy the files on EXT3 part and have a new install while retaining my other files on fat32?

[Q] Titanium Backup removal

Hey I know this is probably a repeat thread but im having trouble finding an answer. This would help me tremendously.
I install a ROM, it already has TB installed. Its not Pro. I purchased pro and want to install.
When try to install I get an error saying signature already exists. I dont see a way to uninstall because it was
Built into the Rom. Please let me know how to remove. Also is the removable process the same on each android version (ics, jb etc.)
Thanks for your help!
Use a root explorer mount the system as write and delete the app. Look in /system/app/

I posted a titanium removal zip. I know there are quite a few of people who don't use it.
Plus I can't put pro version in a ROM, because you have to pay for it.

And for some reason it doesn't work but, it should.
use ES file explorer or root explorer (make sure system is read and write R/W)
go to system/app and delete com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup-1.apk
and reboot.

you have to reboot for the changes to take place. I had this same issue before, if you use titanium backup to freeze itself and destroy market link (destroy the market link first) then uninstall with root explorer you shouldn't have anymore issues. All you'll need to do is download from market after a reboot and it should recognize the pro key

[Q] Help freeing up Internal Storage (nandroid backups)

I'm currently low on space on my internal storage and I believe the problem is old nandroid backups from back when I used CWM. I now use TWRP and it doesn't see my old backups. Where can I find the backups so that I can delete them?
If all you wanna do is deal with the nandroid backups on your device, I use Nandroid Manager (from Google Play store, its free). It finds the paths where any and all backups on the device may be stored, and lists them for you. You can then go and delete them or browse them if you want...
I've tried that, but it only shows my most recent backup that was made with TWRP. It doesn't show any of my old backups that I made when I was still using CWM

Download Rom Manager in the play store from Clockworkmod and go to Manage and Restore Backups and then delete them.

Use a file browser and go to sdcard-clockworkmod and they should all be there. Cut and paste them to a computer if you need to save them. You can always use titanium back as well as app from above to extract anything you need.
Sorry for the late response, I've been busy with school and just got around to attempting to fix this issue to no avail. I tried reflashing CWM to see if it could see old recoveries but I couldn't see any. I'm beginning to think it's not actually old nandroid files, but something else taking up all the storage instead. I've used diskusage and root explorer to try and find something that was taking up lots of room, but nothing was taking up much space. I don't have many apps, and there's no way the rom should be taking up this much room. This thread over at androidcentral shows other people having the same problem. This is getting pretty bad as I can't update or install any apps.

After doing some digging around in diskusage I finally found the culprit. All of the old recoveries had been moved into /data/lost+found. Deleting the contents fixed all my problems! Hopefully this will help someone else out, it has been driving me crazy.
